Thank You FDA for Yet ANOTHER Deadly Diet Drug!!!!!!

WELLBUTRIN

CONTRAVE (WELLBUTRIN) FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

As if the ravages of the serotonergic diet drugs Phen Fen and Redux in the mid 90’s did not generate enough pain and suffering, the FDA next approved a drug almost identical to Redux that had just been pulled from the market for the heart damage, but more for the brain damage it caused. The new drug Merida was finally pulled from the market in 2010 I believe. And since then the FDA has “blessed” us with three new diet drugs since 2012. Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) and Belviq (lorcaserin) were both approved that year and both of them are serotonergic drugs with similar side effect profile of the SSRI antidepressants including Serotonin Syndrome and suicide. Then the latest weight loss drug was approved on September 10, 2014.

The brand name of the new drug is Contrave. But it is not actually a new drug, as most are not any more, but it is a combination of two presently approved drugs, the antidepressant Wellbutrin and Naltrexone, an anti-addiction drug.

With this drug those in the clinical trials lost an amazing 2% – 4% more than those on placebo! Over a six month period they lost 25 pounds.

Wow! Now doesn’t that sound effective?! Sure makes me want to try it! How about you? Funny that going to a raw Vegan diet and being out on a farm this summer I lost 15 pounds in four months this summer. No wonder we find the following statement in the following article about the new “diet drug”….

A most classic statement: “Is the new drug meant to be used in combination with diet and exercise? …. Absolutely, doctors agree. “If you try to use it in isolation, that patient is not going to have success,” says Bipan Chand, MD.”

So there is no cutting corners with the drug, you cannot just take the drug and lose weight. You have to do diet and exercise with it for it to work. So … what really produces the weight loss? Obviously it is the diet and exercise!

Somehow I have trouble believing there is much of anything this drug does to help. Certainly seems that it would not be worth taking the chance with Wellbutrin as part of the combination that makes up this drug. Wellbutrin is the antidepressant that Donna Fairchild, the City Counselwoman who was running for Mayor in Mesquite, NV, took a couple of years ago as a stop smoking aid. Then in abrupt withdrawal from the drug she shot her husband and herself. Donna and her husband were both retired Denver police officers.

For many other similar examples of what can happen on Wellbutrin I would suggest you go to our database of cases at www.ssristories.net and click on the option of which drug the person was on and read all of the Wellbutrin cases there. That will give you some idea of whether you think a 2% to 4% weight loss is worth taking such a chance. Since I got straight A’s in math, you will certainly not see me standing in line for a prescription for this drug! (Or any other, for that matter with all I know now about Pharma and their practices!)

And just for fun I suggest you go to http://www.belviq.com/ and read the Important Safety Information on Belviq. I assure you it will surprise you what all you are going to find there. Clearly none of these drugs can be taken safely with an antidepressant which causes the weight gain for which you might consider a weight loss medication!

Sept. 11, 2014 — The FDA’s approval on Wednesday of a new prescription weight-loss pill offers yet another option for the more than one-third of American adults who are obese. Called Contrave, the new drug is the third prescription weight-loss drug to be approved by the FDA since 2012. It’s also approved for those not obese but overweight with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.

Contrave joins Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate) and Belviq (lorcaserin). Both were approved in 2012.

Contrave combines two drugs already on the market: bupropion (Wellbutrin), an antidepressant, and naltrexone, an anti-addiction drug. Because it contains bupropion, the new drug will have a boxed warning to alert doctors and patients to the increased risk of suicidal thoughts that are linked with antidepressants.

Weight loss experts say all three drugs work in similar ways, but they welcome Contrave as yet another option, especially since not all weight loss drugs work the same for everyone.

The FDA approval came after the agency looked at new information it requested from the drug’s maker in 2011 to be sure the drug was safe for the heart. Even so, the approval came with a requirement to do another study about the drug’s effect on the heart.

Here’s what else to know about the new drug.

How does Contrave work?

”It takes away hunger and the cravings for food,” says John Foreyt, PhD, professor of medicine and director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He was a researcher on a clinical trial studying Contrave. He does not have financial ties to Orexigen, the drug’s maker, or to Takeda Pharmaceuticals, which plans to market the new drug.

How the combination works for weight loss is not entirely understood, even by experts. The bupropion helps lessen appetite, says William Troy Donahoo, MD, an endocrinologist and weight loss specialist at Kaiser Permanente, Denver. The naltrexone, he says, probably works by blocking certain receptors in the brain and curbing cravings.

Who is eligible to take it?

The drug, a daily pill, is approved for use in adults with a body mass index or BMI of 30 (obese), or a BMI of 27 (overweight) with conditions that raise heart and stroke risks, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes.

A 5-foot-9-inch person who weighs 183 pounds has a BMI of 27. At 203 pounds, his or her BMI is 30.

The drug should not be given to anyone with a seizure disorder, pregnant women or those trying to get pregnant, or anyone with an eating disorder, among others, according to the FDA.

Is the new drug meant to be used in combination with diet and exercise?

Absolutely, doctors agree. “If you try to use it in isolation, that patient is not going to have success,” says Bipan Chand, MD. He’s the director of the Loyola University Medical Center’s Center for Metabolic Surgery and Bariatric Care.

The ideal patient, Chand says, is one who will look at their diet, make healthier choices, and get regular exercise, along with taking the medicine.

The drug will help with controlling how much someone eats, Foreyt agrees, ”but we still have to watch what we eat and exercise regularly.”

In clinical trials that included obese and overweight men and women, everyone received instructions on eating a reduced-calorie diet and getting regular exercise.

How much weight do people on this drug lose?

The amount varies, but on average, people lose 5% to 10% of their starting weight, according to clinical trials and experts.

In one 56-week study looking at Contrave combined with health habit changes, those on the drug lost more than 9% of their starting weight, while those on placebo lost just 5%.

So a 200-pound person losing 10% would end up at 180 pounds, perhaps moving from the obese to the overweight range, or the overweight to the healthy weight range.

In clinical trials that studied more than 4,500 people, the drug helped people keep off weight for up to a year, the length of the studies, according to Orexigen. On average, those who took Contrave for 6 months and combined it with a weight-management program lost 25 pounds, the company says in a statement. Those who were on placebo and the weight-management program averaged a 17-pound loss.

According to the FDA, people without diabetes who were in one of the clinical trials and took Contrave had an average weight loss, at the 1-year mark, of 4.1% over those who took the placebo pill.

In another study of those with type 2 diabetes, those on the drug lost 2% more than those on placebo.

In approving Contrave, the FDA says that those using it at the maintenance dose ”should be evaluated after 12 weeks to determine if the treatment is working.” If the weight loss at that point is not at least 5% of starting weight, the drug should be stopped, according to the FDA, as it is not likely to work adequately and long-term for the patient.

If the drug is working, the label has limit on how long it can be taken.

The results seen in studies of the drug aren’t always the same once the drug is on the market, Donahoo says. Once on the market, he says, the medicine may give better results than in clinical trials.

Part of the reason, he says, may be that doctors familiar with their patients can pick the weight loss drug they think may be most likely to work for a specific patient.

What are the side effects of the new drug?

In the clinical trials of Contrave, nausea was most common, reported by 34% of people, Foreyt says. Other complaints were headache, constipation, dizziness, vomiting, insomnia, dry mouth, and diarrhea, the FDA says.

The FDA rejected the request for approval of Contrave in 2011, requesting more information about the safety of the drug for the heart. In response, Orexigen launched the Contrave Light Study, including nearly 9,000 patients, to rule out excess heart and stroke risks in those taking the drug.

The interim results of the study, announced in late 2013, met the FDA goals, according to the company.

The FDA approval includes requirements for post-marketing research, including a heart outcomes trial to look at any heart and stroke risks. The company must also look at the potential for interactions between Contrave and other drugs, evaluate the best dose for patients with liver or kidney problems, look at the safety of the drug in children, and do other research.

How does Contrave compare to the other two recently approved weight-loss drugs?

No head-to-head comparison has been made of all three drugs — Contrave, Belviq and Qsymia — but experts can talk in general about how the drugs are alike and different.

“All affect one’s desire to eat,” Chand says of the three. In contrast, other weight loss drugs, such as orlistat (Alli, Xenical) work by reducing the digestion and absorption of fat in food.

“There is no way to predict who will respond and will not” to the various drugs, Chand says. “It is trial and error.”

What will Contrave cost?

Company spokespeople declined to estimate. But other experts expect it to be priced competitively with the other two prescription weight-loss drugs.

Both cost about $6 or $7 a day, or about $180 to $210 a month.

Insurance coverage for Qsymia and Belviq varies by plan.

Takeda, which will distribute Contrave, expects the drug to be available in the fall, says Denise Powell, a spokeswoman for Orexigen.

ANTIDEPRESSANTS??? Pasadena School Shooting Plot Foiled

Pasadena High School Shooting

Pasadena Police Chief Art Miller

Thank to Brent Ledger for bringing us this case out of South Pasadena, California. Two teens had a plot for a mass shooting at South Pasadena High School and they were willing to die in the shooting. Neither boy had a criminal record or previous issues involving the police.

But according to Police Chief Art Miller at a news conference the two boys, ages 16 and 17, had researched weaponry, explosives and methods for disarming people. “As they were planning it … they had a very specific plan on how they were going to carry out their sick mission,”

The teens, who have not been identified, “very cold-heartedly” discussed their plans with each other online.

“As they put it, they just wanted to kill as many people as possible,” Miller said.

Homicidal and suicidal ideation does not consist of just killing others or oneself. Rather it is having constant ruminating thoughts and compulsions about killing and how to accomplish that. Sounds like what these boys are being accused of doing. So what we need to know is “Were they suffering homicidal and suicidal ideation from antidepressants or other serotonergic medications?” This is the question that should ALWAYS be asked in these cases! With the most common denominator in school shootings being the use of an antidepressant by the perpetrators it is only common sense to do so.

Mother Kills Daughter, 2, After Hearing Biblical Story of Abraham

kimberlylucas.jpg

Kimberly Dawn Lucas

Little doubt this is an antidepressant-induced case. Besides what the mother did in killing one child, attempting to kill another and then attempting to take her own life – all indicating that to be the case, she and her ex-partner were both mental health counselors and she was also gay and a VERY LARGE MAJORITY of gays are on antidepressants. And in many cases what is not being told to patients is that the change in sexuality is often an adverse reaction to an antidepressant or other medication.

One of my very first cases in Florida was that of a married doctor who was shocked that he began having homosexual sex after having adverse reactions to Prozac. He also became alcoholic and developed an addiction to cocaine as well.

And one of my very worst cases in Florida was a married man who suddenly after beginning the use of an antidepressant flew to NYC to have a sex change surgery. A month later he returned home to apologize to his wife and through tears told her he had no idea why he had done this.

Antidepressants are not the only medications that can cause this change in sexuality. Please see this case we posted a while back out of France where a drug, Requip, which is similar in action to antidepressant but given for Parkinson’s symptoms had this reaction and sued the drug makers for it: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/didier-jambart-man-became-gay-1463143

What happened in this is just like the Jimmy Stewart movie from the 50′s that I included in my book – the movie Bigger Than Life, is a real life story about a mild mannered school teacher who went into a manic psychosis from steroids before doctors realized the drugs could do that. Now it is being repeated worldwide daily by the use of antidepressants. Better check her meds to see if she was on the same ones Andrea Yates was given at maximum dose before she drowned her five children. If you are interested there is an entire database of similar cases documented at www.ssristories.net.

PROZAC: Police Release Findings in Sparks NV School Shooting

Jose Reyes

12 Year Old Jose Reyes,

Sparks Middle School Shooter – 3 Days on Prozac

Thanks to our Washington Director of the International Coalition for Drug Awareness for bringing this information to us. If you will watch the video posted below, Why I Took a Gun to School, you will meet Jay and his son and see why this is such a big issue for Jay.

The Sparks Nevada student, Jose Reyes, was only 12 when he shot and killed a teacher, Michael Landsberry, who was attempting to stop the shooting, and wounded two other students before killing himself. He had been placed on generic Prozac only three days earlier and wrote two suicide notes.

Think that is not enough of one of these drugs to cause a murder/suicide? Then you need to read the transcripts of the Tobin vs Glaxo case in Cheyenne, WY where Donald Schell took only two pills of the antidepressant Paxil before rising early the morning after the second pill to shoot his wife, visiting daughter and baby granddaughter, before shooting himself. After hearing all the evidence with the majority of it coming from Glaxo’s expert witness, Dr. John Mann, the jury ruled that the two pills of Paxil were the main cause of this tragedy and awarded $6.4 Million to the family for that.

I encourage you to listen to the only school shooter who has survived to tell his story before a camera. See the second link below to watch his video “Why I Took a Gun to School” from the Gary Null movie The Drugging of Our Children.

25 Years After Wesbecker’s Rampage Another Prozac Tragedy in Louisville, KY

Maddie Yates

Maddie Yates, Teen’s Prozac-induced suicide

Yet another Louisville antidepressant-induced tragedy but certainly not the only one over the past 25 years. How very sad and tragic that they continue this many years later … Maddie Yates, a teen in Louisville, KY has committed suicide on Prozac after posting online that she was going to do so. Louisville, KY, of all places – right where Joseph Wesbecker, on Prozac, went on the 1989 big shooting spree at the printing company where he worked in Louisville, KY thus blowing open the controversy about Prozac and violence.

From my book Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare, we read about this case: “On September 14, 1989, Joseph Wesbecker blew the lid off the Pandora’s box unveiling one of the most terrible of the paradoxical reactions to Prozac when he walked into his former place of employment, Louisville, Kentucky’s Standard Gravure Corp., took the elevator to the third floor, and as the elevator doors opened, started firing with an AK-47 semiautomatic assault rifle. In what authorities called a ‘blood bath you don’t get over,’ Wesbecker took eight lives and wounded twelve others before taking his own life.”

When the makers of Prozac were sued by the surviving family members of those who lost their lives along with some of the survivors of the shooting spree we were not told, but later learned, the case was a set up to make Prozac appear completely safe and not the instigator of this blood bath. Apparently it worked well in Louisville, KY with few hearing that Judge John Potter was brave enough to spend the next two years proving this case in his courtroom was settled by Lilly in the middle of the trial and then allowed to go to a not guilty verdict. Why? So that Lilly could go on national television bragging that Prozac had been found to be safe and not the cause of this tragic violence.

No one ever knew just how much was paid out on the case, but in one instance Judge Potter found indication of one survivor getting about $50 Million. We do know that it has been reported that during the decade that Mitch Daniels, now the head of Purdue where we recently had another bizarre case of a violent murder by a young man suffering depression, headed Eli Lilly there was a total of ONE BILLION paid out to keep all this controversy about Prozac and violence and suicide quiet.

So here is yet another tragic and senseless death as a result of that silence TWENTY-FIVE years later!!! Although reported as a suicide I say this was NOT suicide! This was murder, premeditated murder! And I will explain why it qualifies as such….

Who is responsible for Maddie’s death and why do I call it a “premeditated” murder?

#1 Eli Lilly, the makers of Prozac, who were told by their own scientists BEFORE Prozac went on the market that the drug itself was actually CAUSING suicide and chose to ignore those warnings and instead chose to blame the suicides on the patient’s “underlying disorder.”

#2 The FDA for issuing the strongest warning possible for increased suicidal ideation for anyone under the age of 25 who takes ANY antidepressant they have ever approved and ANY antidepressant they approve in the future except for Prozac which works like all the rest of them.

#3 The doctor who was stupid enough to give a child this drug when it is in the same family of drugs as all the others with Black Box Warnings for suicide. What is wrong with reading just a little research when a life is at stake – especially a life like Maddie’s that had only just begun?

Everything Maddie lists as her reasons for her death are all commonly reported side effects of antidepressants – the feeling like you are evil or have something evil inside you, cursing and saying hurtful things you do not even remember saying and certainly do not mean to say, and seeing no hope of ever getting better since these drugs only make depression worse, instead of better, because the hypothesis behind the drugs is backwards. Serotonin is NOT low in depression, but elevated. What is low is a person’s ability to metabolize serotonin – exactly what antidepressants are designed to do thus leading to long term worsening of depression.

I repeat, this was premeditated murder and it needs to stop!

I am so sick and tired of seeing these! For 25 years I have spent every penny I had trying to stop it, to get the truth out before more die, but the almighty $$$$ is far too important to those responsible not only for the death of Maddie Yates, but far too many others! How many more are we going to allow them to kill? Yes, I said “allow” because we are condoning these deaths by allowing these drugs to remain on the market and to continue their ridiculous advertising of them.

The FDA also now warns that any abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis. These reactions can either come on very rapidly or even be delayed for months depending upon the adverse effects upon sleep patterns when the withdrawal is rapid!

Louisville Male High School in Louisville, Ky., is mourning the death of student Maddie Yates, who committed suicide after posting a heartbreaking video explaining her decision to YouTube.

Jefferson County Public Schools temporarily shut down student access to Twitter and YouTube after learning of Yates’ passing and the video she made.

She was planning to participate in a fundraising walk to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in memory of her friend, Brianna Berrier, who also committed suicide almost exactly one year before Yates’ passing.

Yates and two friends visited Berrier’s grave on April 12, the anniversary of her death, just days before Yates took her own life.

By her social media activities, Yates seemed a bright, happy youth, posting smiling pictures with friends and maintaining a makeup channel on YouTube.

In the above video, she encourages kids to be accepting of others and preaches the importance of staying strong and optimistic.

A still from the final video.

The video is a heart-shattering look into her struggle with depression and anxiety. On her decision to commit suicide, she said, “I just don’t see how this is a bad idea,” and described it as the difference between deciding to jump from a burning building or staying in it and dying “a slow, excruciating death.”

“I’ve been like this for so long,” she said, “and there’s still a chance that the worst day might be coming.”

Do Not Miss This Movie – Sleepwalk With Me – REM Sleep Behavior Disorder

Sleepwalk With Me

Mike Birbiglia

This is a movie about the REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) which I have one DVD out on the subject already and am finishing up an e-book on the subject currently… My comment on the movie?

“This is a movie that should be seen by absolutely everyone!!! In 2010 there were 250 Million prescriptions written for antidepressants in America yet 86% of those being diagnosed with the potentially deadly sleep disorder featured in this movie were found to be on an antidepressant … no one should miss this movie! Mike Birbiglia has done an excellent job of presenting this now all too common sleep disorder, very funny, yet making it clear to the audience just how serious this condition can be and disruptive to normal life.”

Although this disorder has gotten much press lately as being associated with the sleeping pill Ambien, the drugs in that class are found to be in 3% of the diagnosis of RBD while a staggering 86% of those diagnosed with RBD are taking an antidepressant! Even worse is to know that RBD used to be a rare disorder and mainly found in drug withdrawal from psychoactive illegal drugs. But with 86% currently being on an antidepressant when diagnosed with this disorder in which patients have no paralysis during sleep and thus can act out whatever they are dreaming or having a nightmare about we need to be very concerned about the number of cases found in withdrawal from antidepressants.

What is the connection to antidepressants?

One theory is that it is the elevated serotonin levels that stimulate the brain stem and remove paralysis during periods of sleep.

It has been my experience in working with patients having reactions to antidepressants that the side effect of vivid or abnormal dreams or nightmares are the first sign of the manifestation of RBD.

Egbert movie review: “The hero of Mike Birbiglia’s “Sleepwalk With Me” is a stand-up comic who suffers from REM behavior disorder. One night in a motel in Walla Walla, he leaps through a second-floor window while acting out a nightmare he was having and narrowly escapes death… but has to have glass splinters removed from his legs. His doctor tells him to start using a sleeping bag to sleep in — and wear mittens so he can’t get out of the bag to act out his dreams or nightmares.

“Funny stuff, if it weren’t true….” (continue reading by clicking the following link): http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/sleepwalk-with-me-2012

Maryland Police Officer Kills Son to Stop His Attack on Mother

James and Denise Stirkens

Sgt James Stirkens and His Wife Denise

Only a few miles away from the Columbia, MD Mall shooting and just days away another tragedy struck Wednesday evening. In what I am sure was the most sad and tragic day of his life Montgomery County, MD Police Sgt James Stirkens found his son, Christopher, violently stabbing his mother with pruning shears. Unable to stop him Sgt Stirkens was forced to shoot his own son in an attempt to save his wife. Sadly his son died instantly and his wife died later at the hospital.

Once again all who knew this family is in shock. But Denise left an all too obvious clue on her Facebook page just the week before this that said, it was Mental Health Awareness Week and stated: “Depression, anxiety and panic attacks are NOT a sign of weakness. They are signs of having tried to remain strong for too long,” “Share the support! Let those who struggle know they’re not alone …”

No, those struggling with depression, anxiety or panic are rarely alone any longer…seems they all have Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor, Remeron, Wellbutrin or one of the many other antidepressants on their backs – drugs designed to increase the levels of serotonin. The only problem with that is the increase in serotonin coming from the serotonin reuptake has always been known to produce impulsive murder and suicide. SC Family of Four Dead in Murder/Suicide

miller family

Sheddrick Byron Miller, 38, Kia, 28, Kyler 3 and Syrai, 1

The father shot all of them this past week and everyone who knew them is looking for the anser as to why someone would do something so completely out of character. Each family member died from a gunshot to the head, Watts said. Once again when this is so out of character we have to ask if antidepressants were involved. Hopefully we will have those answers quickly in this case but the answer rarely comes quickly or easily. We do know the markers are there because it generally takes a brain tumor or a chemical to change behavior that drastically.

Friends struggling with why religious Irmo man would kill his family, himself

BY NOELLE PHILLIPS

A photo shows a smiling family wearing their Sunday best while standing on the front porch of a recently bought home.

The happiness in that Facebook picture – and dozens of others posted on the social media site – is how friends and acquaintances knew the Miller family.

And people who talked Thursday about that family said they don’t understand what would have led the father, 38-year-old Sheddrick Byron Miller, to shoot and kill his wife and two children before turning a gun on himself.

“I’m sick to my stomach,” said Tammy Doctor, who owns a beauty salon next to a barber shop that Miller owned. “He never showed one sign. I can’t see it.”

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released a short report Thursday identifying Miller, his wife, 28-year-old Kia Von Miller, and their children, Kyler, 3, and Syrai, 1. Each family member died from a gunshot to the head, Watts said.

It appeared that Sheddrick Miller shot his children and wife before turning the gun on himself, the coroner said. However, the exact time and the circumstances surrounding the shootings remain under investigation, he said.

Two cars were parked Thursday evening outside the family’s white, two-story home in the Riverwalk subdivision off Broad River Road. Two teddy bears and a splash of white flowers had been placed in the front yard.

Richland County sheriff’s investigators said they were called to the home around 10:30 a.m., Wednesday by Sheddrick Miller’s mother. She had gone to the house after she did not hear from her son for several days, according to earlier sheriff’s department reports.

Investigators found the children in their own bedrooms and the adults were found together in another room. A handgun was near the father, the sheriff’s reports stated.

The family appeared to have spent much of their time in the Broad River Road area as their home, business and church were off the major thoroughfare that runs from north Columbia to Irmo.

They attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, where they were known by pretty much everyone in the congregation, said Gary Malcome, a minister. A neighbor said the couple hosted Bible studies at their home.

Church members were struggling to accept the news, and Malcome said they hoped to release a statement soon.

“As you can imagine the situation is just terrible, and we don’t know what to say at this time,” Malcome said as he put his hand on his forehead. “What do you say in a case like this?”

Malcome said he was just trying to take care of his congregation.

Sheddrick Miller owned Kyler’s Barber Shop, a storefront tucked into a pocket of small businesses on Seminole Road, off Broad River Road. The shop was named after his son. Miller also had created a line of fragrances that he had named “Syrai” after his daughter and sold them in the shop.

Miller had owned the barber shop for several years, Doctor said. They visited each other’s shops often to talk or to make change if one of them needed smaller bills, she said.

The shop had a barber’s chair shaped like a race car for children, and the Millers’ son would sit in it when he came to work with his father, she said. Doctor also described Miller as a “genius with the clippers,” saying he could cut any design into a person’s close-cropped hair.

Kia Miller was a stay-at-home mom, Doctor said. The couple each had ties to New York, she said.

“He was a religious man,” she said. “He loved his kids. Beautiful wife.”

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas, but the Miller family had gone to Walt Disney World in Orlando over the holidays, Doctor said. Sheddrick Miller was expected to re-open his shop on Monday but did not, she said.

“His clients started coming over here,” Doctor said. “They had been calling and calling and calling.”

As far as Doctor could tell, the Millers were a happy, loving family. There were no outward signs of problems, she said. She said she has no idea why Sheddrick Miller would have shot his family and himself.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott declined to offer further details about what might have caused Sheddrick Miller to do what he did.

“It’s a tragic situation,” he said.

In 2013, domestic violence led to an increase in homicides in the county, Lott said. He lamented that 2014 has started with four homicides caused by domestic violence.

“What bothers us is how do we prevent this from happening,” he said.

Coroner identifies family as the victims in Riverwalk murder-suicide

Updated: Jan 26, 2014 12:18 PM PST

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of the four people killed in a murder-suicide on Forest Walk Court in Irmo.

Coroner Gary Watts says 38-year-old Sheddrick Miller, 28-year-old Kia Von Miller, 3-year-old Kyler Devane Miller, and 1-year-old Syrai Raquel Miller all died from gunshot wounds to the head.

“It appears that Mr. Miller shot his family members and then turned the gun on himself making this a murder-suicide,” said Watts.

Watts says it is currently unknown when exactly the incident took place.

Deputies received a call about the incident at Forest Walk Court before noon Wednesday. Wilson said the male victim’s mother came to the home and found the scene after not hearing from her son for several days.

Neighbors tell us the Millers were Jehovah’s Witnesses and very involved in their religion. Sheddrick, a barber, was a small business owner.

On Thursday, crime scene tape at the Forest Walk Court home was replaced by a memorial to Kyler and Syrai — two teddy bears on the front lawn and flowers.

The sign on the door at Miller’s barbershop has said closed for several days, with customers saying they haven’t seen Miller since last week. They’re shocked that something like this could happen to what seemed to be a tight-knit family.

“Everybody’s in awe, everybody’s shocked, because he catered to a lot of people in the community,” said customer Christopher O’Berry. “A lot of people around here went in there and got their hair cut, came and visited with him. He was a genuine character.”

O’Berry says this incident is not in line with who Miller was — a clean-cut guy always in suits.

“He was always talking about his religious beliefs and he seemed to be a well-rounded individual,” said O’Berry.

Customers in the shop said Miller had talked about the family’s recent trip to Disney World. They also said Kyler was always in the barbershop with his father.

“All of us are waiting to hear what led to this,” said O’Berry.

Sheriff’s investigators continue to look into the circumstances leading up to the Miller’s deaths. The coroner’s office, meanwhile, says they’re still waiting on several toxicology reports.

Three Dead in Maryland Mall Shooting

Maryland Mall Shooting

Three Dead in Maryland Mall Shooting

Three people are dead Saturday morning in a Columbia, MD mall. One of the dead is presumed to be the shooter. Five others were treated for injuries, one from another gunshot and the others from scrambling to get out of the line of fire. The two victims were employees at the mall in their early 20’s and nothing has been released yet about the shooter. This story is still developing.

Ironically this is the same area where Marc Pizzuto, the young man featured in the front of my book, Prozac: Panacea or Pandora?, grew up. It is also where Marc took his life in his home not long after being given Prozac. And decades later this drug-induced nightmare continues!

Was this yet another shooter among the large majority so far who were taking antidepressants?

Additional Critical Information on Mass Shootings

Prophetic statement to me by a pharmacist on school shootings in 1999:

“The symptoms I see in patients who abuse serotonergic drugs of any form…could aptly be described as the “Hitler syndrome” (over confidence in ones own policies or decisions, no fear of consequences, criminal behavior, death of people close to the abuser as the preferred method of solving problems in the abusers life, coldness and lack of humanity). I feel that in twenty years or less we will be confronted not with one Hitler but with thousands or millions… numbers so great that we will be forced to interact with their distorted thinking on a daily basis. (Littleton, CO., Riverton, KS., Jonesboro, AR., eventually little Hitlers in every town in America will grow up into BIG HITLERS) It is happening right now.

“The most insidious factor about long-term serotonin abuse is that it enhances the individuals persona to the point that they are able to manipulate others into their way of thinking just as Hitler did. This causes the distorted thinking, abnormal behavior, and loss of morality to spread like a contagion to otherwise normal people who have not even been exposed to the drugs. Those on the drugs are converted by the pharmacologic/physiologic processes into sociopathic demagogues.

“Do you have any comments on these thoughts, Ann? Please respond. Tell me we are not the only ones who see what is happening to our world!” (From Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare)

Video of the only school shooter to ever speak out tells his story about what happened to him:

Medicated & Depressed FL Mother Who Killed Her 2 Teens Seemed “Off”

Berman Family

Jacqueline, Alexander and Jennifer Berman

Jennifer Berman emailed her ex-husband on Monday to say that she intended to ‘do harm’. Mr. Berman rushed to the home only to find her body was later along with her children Alexander and Jacqueline who had all been shot dead at their Florida home in West Palm Beach. Jennifer Berman had killed them all.

From the clips below from several news articles listed we can see all of the typical clues that those of us who know what to look for would find. Those are highlighted in bold.

1…..”…another neighbor said he suspected something was wrong with Mrs Berman when he saw her over the weekend.

‘I looked into her eyes and she just had this weird look,” said 69-year-old Marian Sklodowski.

‘She had tried to sell me her house for a knockdown price because she wanted the money quick. I knew her very well, and I had never seen this look on her face.

‘She was just off. There was nothing there behind the eyes. I told my wife, but she said I should not get involved.
‘I just wish I had said something now because we have this awful tragedy.’

2…..Their mother, Jennifer Berman, appeared “off” recently, according to neighbor Marian Sklodowski, who lives across the street. “The last time, compared to the first time, something was missing. Something was missing. What was missing, I don’t know,” said Sklodowski.

“Just two days ago, when Sklodowski last saw and spot Jennifer Berman, he said, she appeared upset, disappointed and confused. “You can notice that, from the face, from the eyes, something was strange in her face,” said Sklodowski.

“Just across the street, neighbor Sheren Kirk also noticed something was not right as of late. “It’s shocking that it happened, but, I think, they had a lot of stress,” said Kirk. “There’s been a divorce; there’s been financial problems.”

“A few houses down from Kirk, resident Tim Frank said after the divorce, Jennifer Berman seemed distraught about the future and her kids. “She anticipated that it was going to be very tough for her to move on,” said Frank.

3…..”Two of Jennifer’s cousins who didn’t want to be named said Berman previously threatened to harm herself, but never the children. Police said the morning of the shootings, Jennifer Berman sent emails to Richard Berman and other family members and said she was going to harm herself and the children.
Kaufman said on behalf of Richard Berman that if Richard ever thought Jennifer Berman was a danger to the kids, Richard “would have gone to the end of the earth to stop it.”

“Jennifer Berman was devastated after the loss of her father, grandmother and most recently, her mother, said a cousin who wished not to be named. Jennifer Berman, who was working as a caretaker for a 99-year-old man, had been depressed for a while. The cousin believed she was on medication but wasn’t sure if it was a sleeping aid or for depression.

“Jennifer Berman, an only child, felt alone when she was left without the three people closest to her, the cousin said, and her depression developed as the deadline neared to leave her home. Jennifer Berman’s mother owned the home on Pershing Way and when Jennifer and Richard were going through financial troubles, they moved in. The cousin said Jennifer felt the house was her last connection to her mother.

“Her mother and her were very close,” she said. “I don’t think she would have done any of this if her mother was still alive. I feel like because she was leaving her mom’s home I think the depression turned into psychosis.”

[This is often a time when medication doses are increased or changed – a time when the FDA warns that an abrupt change in dose (whether up or down) can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis.]

“The cousin said Jennifer Berman had previously threatened suicide and was battling with the thought of it
