ANTIDEPRESSANTS: MOTHERS KILLING THEIR CHILDREN – LEEZA GIBBONS SHOW

Leeza Gibbons

EPIDEMIC OF MOTHERS (AND NOW GRANDMOTHERS!) KILLING CHILDREN

Leeza Gibbons with Dr. Ann Blake-Tracy addresses the issue of mothers on antidepressants killing their children. Cases discussed: Robert Kirkwood whose wife killed their two small children and herself while on Effexor. Christina Riggs, a nurse whose case is featured here being interviewed from prison, was on Amitriptyline (Elavil) when she killed her two small children. She was not successful in her own suicide attempt, but the state of Arkansas completed that suicide for her after she refused to appeal or do anything else to defend herself so they would kill her. Be sure to read the science below about how antidepressants cause this type of completely out of character violence.

In the early 1990’s the world began to see something they had rarely seen before – an epidemic of mothers killing their children and doing so by more and more violent methods. Those around them were generally in shock by these actions and the one main common denominator was the use of an antidepressant by the mother who had killed her children. These were often described as the very best and most caring mothers. No one could believe what they were seeing. In the summer of 1999 Leeza Gibbons agreed to do a show on this issue even though we were not allowed to mention the brand names of the medications because of their advertisers. Now that drug company advertising is so prolific you see no shows like this any longer. Watch the full show here:

ANTIDEPRESSANTS PRODUCE A SLEEP DISORDER KNOWN TO INCLUDE BOTH MURDER AND SUICIDE

What the world remains unaware of is the fact is that 86% of those who are diagnosed with the most deadly sleep disorder known as REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) are currently taking antidepressants. REM Sleep Disorder is a condition in which there is no paralysis during sleep thus allowing the patient to act out the dreams or nightmares they are having. Tragically 80% of those going into this sleep disorder hurt themselves or others including both murder and suicide as a result.

This is possibly the most deadly of all reactions one can have to antidepressants. Even more frightening though is to learn that before the introduction of the SSRI antidepressants RBD was known mainly as a drug withdrawal effect. Thus the chances of going into this dangerous reaction should be expected to increase as one goes into withdrawal. This is why it is so important to avoid as much of the withdrawal effects as possible by tapering off the antidepressant very, very slowly.

EXCESS SEROTONIN PRODUCES EXTREME VIOLENCE

What so many were not aware of is that an increase in serotonin by an accompanying decrease in one’s ability to metabolize serotonin was long known to produce both impulsive murder and suicide. See this study: http://www.drugawareness.org/mutant-mice-key-to-human-violence-an-excess-serotonin/

Paxil-Induced Murder Suicide Inspired Jennifer Anniston’s Movie “Cake”

Tim Tobin family

Tim, Deb and Alyssa Tobin

Well I don’t normally watch movies but will go watch this one since I worked on the Tobin vs Glaxo case for three plus years. Almost three of those years were spent waiting on the high profile attorney Jerry Spence to see if he would handle the case until he concluded he did not know enough about antidepressants to do the case justice. At that point Andy Vickery, who has been the lead attorney handling so many of these cases for many years, was brought in on the case. In the end the jury ruled that the two Paxil pills taken by Donald Schell before the tragedy was the main cause of Tim Tobin’s father-in-law, Donald Schell, killing his wife, daughter and infant grand-daughter before killing himself.

I actually learned about this case while testifying in the case of a woman in Western Wyoming who had shot her husband while he slept. She too was on Paxil and had no recall of what had happened but knew she must have been the one to shoot her husband as she had what she described as “a smoking gun” in her hand. So this women, described by all as the “nicest woman in town,” walked over to the Sheriff’s office and turned herself in.

Phil - Brynn Hartman

Comedian Phil Hartman and his wife, Brynn

The following morning after driving back from Wyoming the night before I woke up to the reports of the murder suicide of comedian Phil Hartman and his wife Brynn. I was shocked that the case was identical to both of these Wyoming cases from the day before. The following evening I spoke with Brynn Hartman’s family and told them why I suspected the drugs and not to stop looking until they found one of these antidepressants. Because of what I had heard about the case I felt strongly antidepressants were behind it. I was not about to have the Hartman’s children go through life without either of their parents and no answers as to why their mother had done this.

All of these cases were much too similar. Although in the Hartman case the antidepressants involved were Zoloft and Tramadol, instead of Paxil. The Hartman children’s wrongful death case did not go to court as this one did but was settled by Pfizer the manufacturer of Zoloft.

Antidepressant-Induced REM Sleep Disorder (RBD)

Although I agree that pain killers are a very serious problem I am disappointed that the drug involved in the Tobin tragedy was not addressed in this movie instead – the antidepressant Paxil. Antidepressants produce a sleep disorder called REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) where the patient has no paralysis during sleep and can act out the nightmares they are having. It has long been known to include both murder and suicide. Latest figures show that 86% of those being diagnosed with this deadly sleep disorder are taking an antidepressant. Even more frightening is that RBD has long been known as a drug withdrawal state so we could expect even more cases if the patient or their doctor does not know enough to understand that patients should wean extremely slowly off these medications to avoid the withdrawal.

Cake the Movie

Here is an introduction to the movie and background: EXCLUSIVE: The true story behind Jennifer Aniston’s Cake – how movie’s scriptwriter was inspired by the brutal murder of his brother’s wife, baby daughter and mother-in-law

Cake has been acclaimed for Aniston’s portrayal of suicidal mom hooked on prescription drugs in aftermath of car crash that killed her child

Daily Mail Online can reveal movie was written by Patrick Tobin after his brother’s young family was slaughtered by a relative

Deb Tobin and her nine-month-old daughter Alyssa were shot dead by her father, along with her mom Rita Schell, by Don Schell, her father

Tim Tobin, Patrick’s brother, found the horrific scene at father-in-law’s home in Gillette, Wyoming on Valentine’s Day, 1998

Schell was taking anti-depressant Paxil and Tim Tobin sued maker, winning $6.4m compensation after it was named ‘proximate cause’ of killings

Patrick Tobin then quit Hollywood to look after his suicidal brother and eventually wrote Cake as a result of experience

Jennifer Aniston’s career-defining performance in hit movie Cake has earned her a flurry of plaudits and award nominations.

The Friends star gives a gritty portrayal of suicidal mom Claire Bennett who is hooked on prescription drugs while struggling to live with debilitating injuries she endured in a car crash that killed her child.

When it was missed from the Oscars shortlist, many critics said it was a miss and should have been included.

But few watching the heart-wrenching Hollywood film will be aware that the screen drama is in fact inspired by a tragic and brutal real life story.

Daily Mail Online has learned that screenwriter Patrick Tobin penned the powerful movie following a devastating family tragedy that saw four of his brother’s family slaughtered.

Why James Holmes Called Crisis Line to Stop Him From Committing The Shooting

James Holmes

James Holmes, Batman Shooter

Dr. Reid, the prosecution’s expert, clearly knows LITTLE about the drugs he and his colleagues regularly prescribe to patients – the same drugs prescribed to James Holmes which produce “psychosis” and “homicidal ideation” But if he admitted knowing such it would then point the blame on the drug makers and on him and his colleagues’ livelihood. Is that not a vested interest in not allowing the truth of this case to be told? If he admits the drugs pushed James Holmes into this as they have so MANY others: www.ssristories.NET are he and his colleagues any less guilty than someone who slips drugs/alcohol to someone who then commits a crime?

It has already been made public that James Holmes was on Zoloft, a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor – the same antidepressant initially given to Eric Harris from Columbine who was taken off the drug after only six weeks because he was having thoughts of killing that greatly disturbed him. Unfortunately his doctors apparently thought if the name of the drug was different, even though it was the same type of drug/same action in the brain, it would have a different effect upon Eric and switched him to the antidepressant called Luvox. Wrong move!

Zoloft is often referred to as Prozac #2 and Luvox as Prozac #4 since they are clones to Prozac and work similarly in the brain. As you read the medical research below keep in mind that these SSRI antidepressants work by increasing levels of serotonin (5HT) in the brain. These drugs are known to produce both psychosis/schizophrenia and homicidal ideation. Ideation is a compulsion where you think obsessively of both homicide and ways to commit homicide – exactly what James Holmes described in his writings and interrogations.

When a patient suffers this adverse reaction to the medications they long for anyone to stop them because the compulsion is so strong that they cannot stop themselves. James as so many others report was doing things he hoped would lead to someone who would stop him from doing what he was being chemically compelled to do.

As you read this quote from my book Prozac: Panacea OR Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare! it will help you see how similar in action these serotonergic drugs are to LSD and PCP, drugs we have seen in the past that are now illegal although once thought to be “safe and effective” while they were prescribed by physicians. This will also help explain the psychosis/schizophrenia producing effects.

“Tonge and Leonard (1969) compared phencyclidine [PCP], Ditran, mescaline and LSD and their effect upon 5-HT (serotonin) and 5-HIAA (serotonin turnover). All four drugs increased brain 5-HT (serotonin) and decreased 5-HIAA [serotonin turnover/metabolism] over a three hour period. As we pointed out before inhibition of 5-HT (serotonin) is known to result in a decrease of 5-HIAA (serotonin turnover) while it increases extraneuronal content of the 5-HT (serotonin) (Buus, et al. 1975; Nabeshima, et al. 1983). Kenneth M. Johnson in 1978, thirty years after our official introduction to PCP, recommended that, “…Because of the suggestive nature of the foregoing studies with PCP and the proposed role of 5-HT [serotonin] in emotional and psychotic behavior, it is felt that a detailed biochemical study of the effects of PCP on serotonergic function is warranted…” (PCP PHENCYCLIDINE ABUSE: AN APPRAISAL , p. 46).

“This information on elevated serotonin levels and their connection to schizophrenia would imply that Prozac and the remaining SSRIs, along with any of the drugs which raise serotonin levels [by inhibiting serotonin turnover/metabolism] should all be classed as psychotomimetic drugs, [because] over a period of use they are chemically inducing a psychosis thus mimicking schizophrenia. As early as 1986 Prozac’s potential to induce psychosis emerged when an FDA Safety Reviewer uncovered that Lilly had withheld information of psychotic episodes in 52 patients during Prozac’s clinical trials.”

Antidepressant-Induced Psychosis & Everything Else They Cause

Zoloft and heart disease

Understanding Antidepressant-Induced Psychosis

And Everything Else They Cause

I have been going back through my book Prozac: Panacea OR Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare! (Keep in mind that the only reason Prozac is the only antidepressant mentioned in the title is because it is the mother drug to all of the other SSRI and SNRI clones to follow it) to gather information for a court case and thought I would share something I ran across. It seems that so many who know enough to be against these drugs do not seem to know how simple it is to prove the deadly potential of antidepressants in producing psychotic breaks or so many other adverse effects. Hopefully just this one quote (although there is MUCH more) is enough to help everyone understand how similar in action these serotonergic drugs are to drugs we have seen in the past that are now illegal although once thought to be “safe and effective” also will help explain the psychosis producing effects.

“Tonge and Leonard (1969) compared phencyclidine [PCP], Ditran, mescaline and LSD and their effect upon 5 – HT (serotonin) and 5 – HIAA (serotonin turnover). All four drugs increased brain 5-HT (serotonin) and decreased 5-HIAA [serotonin turnover/metabolism] over a three hour period. 2004 February FDA Testimony of Jamie Tierney Given Effexor for Migraine Headaches at Age 14

jamie.jpg

Jamie Tierney

A neurologist, who certainly should have known better, gave the SNRI antidepressant, Effexor, to 14 year old Jamie Tierney. Let her share with you what horrors she suffered as a result. Luckily her parents knew what they were seeing in Jamie’s behavior was not her and continued to search for answers. I still remember her mother’s first call to me and the hours upon hours spent in helping Jamie to be able to withdraw safely off of this deadly drug that almost took her life.

Listen to her February 2004 testimony before the FDA here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhec-FDVEW4

And so common for so many young people who are targeted with these drugs as they enter college Jamie was offered the antidepressant Wellbutrin with the sales pitch that this antidepressant does not work like the other antidepressants (BS!) and it is safe so there is no need to worry. Jamie suffered the same nightmare all over again. Thankfully she survived that and has learned to avoid any of these drugs for the rest of her life!

ANTIDEPRESSANT? 13 Year Old Behind School Machete/Crossbow Attack Killing a Teacher

Spain school attack

Spain: School Attack With Machete & Crossbow

On the 16th anniversary of Columbine yet another school incident in Spain today. No matter the weapon, on an antidepressant the person will find the means to do what this young man just did and demonstrated for the world.

“A 13-year-old student armed with a crossbow and machete killed a substitute teacher and wounded four other people Monday at his high school in Barcelona, Spain, before being taken into custody, police said.

“It was the first documented case in Spain of a pupil killing a teacher, according to the country’s teachers union. The attack took place on the 16th anniversary of the massacre at Colorado’s Columbine High School, during which two students gunned down 12 of their classmates and a teacher before committing suicide…”

“He was very disturbed and saying strange and incoherent things.
– Jose Miguel Company, spokesman for the Barcelona prosecutor’s office.”

“Police in Barcelona said they had no motive for Monday’s killing. The boy’s classmates told local Catalan media that he was not known as a troublemaker. But one classmate told La Vanguardia newspaper that the attacker was obsessed with the military, collected weapons at home and even drafted “kill lists” of teachers at his school.”

RISPRDAL & ANTIDEPRESSANT? Mother Decapitates Three Month Old Daughter

Deasia Watkins

Deasia Watkins, 20

When SSRI antidepressants gained popularity in the early 90’s we began to witness something rarely, if ever, seen before – mothers taking the lives of their children. I began gathering those cases and investigating them finding that nearly every case involved the mother’s use of an antidepressant. In 1999 I did the Leeza Gibbons Show on mothers on antidepressants killing their children. We now have a searchable database of these cases documenting the antidepressant involved in each case posted, along with school shootings and mass murders and murder/suicides, at www.ssristories.NET

In this case the mother reportedly suffers from postpartum psychosis now but all anyone seemed to be talking about in the press conference with the prosecutor and coroner was postpartum depression. My concern is that she was given an antidepressant for postpartum depression that CAUSED the psychosis. At that point what is generally done by doctors is that they then abruptly discontinue the antidepressant when patients began to have this reaction [I might add here that they do that even though the FDA has warned that ANY abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant, whether increasing or decreasing the dose, can cause suicide, hostility or psychosis.] and give them a drug like Risperdal in an attempt to stop the psychosis. That only makes the reaction worse since both of these drugs increase serotonin levels. And this is what we know about serotonin and violence: The Key to Human Violence is an Excess of Serotonin – http://www.drugawareness.org/mutant-mice-key-to-human-violence-an-excess-serotonin/

ANTIDEPRESSANT? Father Acquitted of Sleepwalk Killing of Son, Attacking Other Children

Blake Mitchell and father

Joseph Anthony Mitchell & Blake (4)

Since serotonin directly affects sleep and one of the first adverse reactions seen with the first SSRI antidepressant, Prozac, was that it repressed REM sleep I searched for more and more information on this affect. And since 1992 I have warned and warned and warned that sleep patterns were being drastically disrupted by antidepressants. My strongest warning with one entire chapter of my book, Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare, devoted to this is that the REM Sleep Disorder (RBD), where patients act out nightmares in a sleep state, was being triggered by SSRI antidepressants. This disorder is known to potentially result in both murder and suicide committed in an unconscious sleepwalk state.

Since the initial printing of the book with those warnings the leading experts on this disorder in the US have learned that 86% of those being diagnosed with this deadly sleep disorder are currently taking antidepressant medications with 80% of those on SSRIs.

What is most frighting about those figures is that RBD has always been known in the past as a drug withdrawal state so it should follow that the rate of cases would be higher in the withdrawal from antidepressants which are found in 86% of the cases! Yet no one has done that research at this point that I am aware of. This would explain why there are such serious warnings (warnings of possible suicide, hostility, or psychosis) about any abrupt change in dose of antidepressants which could throw the user into abrupt withdrawal thus increasing the chance of this deadly sleep disorder known as RBD.

In the following case Joseph Anthony Mitchell, an ex-paramedic, never denied that he strangled his son Blake, 4, on the night of September 22, 2010, at the family’s foreclosed home in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Instead his attorney argued that he did it “uncontrollably and without malice” while sleepwalking.

“A North Carolina father was acquitted of strangling to death his 4-year-old son and trying to kill his other two children after the defense successfully argued that the man’s ‘violent sleepwalking’ was to blame for the tragedy.

“A jury on Wednesday decided unanimously that Joseph Anthony Mitchell is not guilty of murder and attempted murder after an expert witness said he was effectively unconscious at the time of his attacks four years ago.”

The defense expert testified that Mitchell suffered a “‘non-REM parasomnia,’ a sleep disorder whose sufferers can perform random acts unconsciously. Because of this disorder, he was incapable of exercising criminal intent, the expert said.”

“Prosecutors described how Joe Mitchell tried to push his daughter’s head between her bed and a wall while wearing a Halloween mask. The girl fought back and survived, along with her brother Devin, reported ABC11.

“Blake, however, was not as lucky. Alexis Mitchell, now 18 years old, said in court she passed out and was later awakened by her baby brother’s screams.
‘I remember seeing my father on my other little brother [Devin], and I tried to get him off of him,’ Alexis testified. ‘He was trying to hurt him. I ran to my mother’s room and told her what was happening, and she told me to go get my brothers.’
When Alexis returned to her siblings’ room, she picked up Blake in her arms, not knowing he was dying. The teen said she thought the toddler was asleep.”

In yet another report you can see the bizarre out of character and suicidal behavior:

“Jurors on Monday watched a portion of a videotaped interview by Durham County Sheriff’s Office investigators with Christine Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell’s wife, and her father, Pete Perolini.

“It’s confusing me all to hell,” Perolini told the two deputies.

“He saved so many lives,” a distraught Christine Mitchell said, noting that her husband previously worked as a paramedic.

She noted that Joseph Mitchell had been unemployed for about two years at the time of the attack but that he had a lead on a new job after a promising interview.

“We were working it out,” she said of the family’s financial difficulties. “We always said we have each other.”

His older son said that his father returned two more times to try again to smother him but that he repeatedly fought him off. On his third time in the bedroom, Joseph Mitchell flicked the light on and off, and Devon saw he was wearing his mother’s yellow jacket.

The children said they thought Blake was simply asleep, so they carried him into their mother’s room, where she began CPR, according to Roberts.

After attacking the children, Joseph Mitchell went into a home office and stabbed himself three times in the chest and slit his throat, and deputies had to break through the door to get to him, according to testimony.

ANTIDEPRESSANT or ATYPICAL ANTIPSYCHOTIC: Suicidal Half Nude Mother Treated for Post Partum Psychosis Stabs Son, 4

Jenea-Mungia

Jenea Mungia

“Just shoot me!” she screamed to police after saying she killed her son.

“Friends who say they’ve known Mungia since elementary school said off camera that she was diagnosed with postpartum psychosis when she had her son, but added that they thought it had been treated and was under control — until this happened.”

The super human strength was so strong that police finally had to kick the half nude mother off her son to stop her from the brutal attack on the little boy that has left him fighting for his life.

My concern is that she was given an antidepressant for depression that CAUSED the psychosis. At that point what is generally done by doctors is that they then abruptly discontinue the antidepressant when patients began to have this reaction and give them a new atypical antipsychotic drug in an attempt to stop the psychosis. That only makes the reaction worse since both drugs increase serotonin levels. Read the brief explanation of research demonstrating how drugs like antidepressants and the new atypical antipsychotics produce this type of violence by increasing levels of serotonin: The Key to Human Violence is an Excess of Serotonin – http://www.drugawareness.org/mutant-mice-key-to-human-violence-an-excess-serotonin/

ZOLOFT & LITHIUM WITHDRAWAL? American Sniper Killer Eddie Ray Routh Found Guilty

Eddie Ray Routh

Eddie Ray Routh

Even though “Routh had been diagnosed with a variety of conditions, including psychosis, paranoia, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress.” And his own victim Chris Kyle, stated just before Routh killed him that Routh was: “straight up nuts” plus he had only been out of a psych ward for a week, released on an anti-psychotic drug, yet the Texas jury did not find him not guilty by reason of insanity??? Chris Kyle’s description of Routh could clearly be used to describe both the justice system and the defense team as well as the prosecution in this case – straight up nuts!

Here is the list of Eddie Routh’s medications according to his father…was he dropped off these to be put on an antipsychotic the week before the killing? Clearly no one considered an antidepressant withdrawal psychosis which the FDA warns of in abrupt changes in dose of antidepressants.

“They prescribed eight medications for his son, which, according to Raymond [Eddie’s father], were placed in “one of those gallon baggies.” Among the drugs were lithium, which treats mania; prazosin, which can help decrease nightmares; and Zoloft, an antidepressant that is a common treatment for P.T.S.D. Raymond said that the cocktail of pharmaceuticals “made Eddie worse,” adding, “I ain’t no doctor. I ain’t no rocket scientist or nothing, but I could tell a difference in him.”
