a Ph.D. in Health Sciences with the emphasis on Psychology, is the director of the International Coalition for Drug Awareness. She has specialized for 14 years in adverse reactions to serotonergic medications (such as Prozac, Sarafem, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor, Serzone, Anafranil, Fen-Phen, Redux and Meridia) and has testified before the FDA and congressional subcommittee members on Prozac. She has testified since 1992 as an expert witness in Prozac and other SSRI related court cases around the world. Her first book on the issue was published in 1991. During the last twelve and a half years she has participated in innumerable radio, television, newspaper and magazine interviews. We know of no one with such extensive experience and expertise on all of these issues surrounding the SSRI antidepressants as Dr. Ann Blake Tracy. You can learn a lot about these medications from her latest book on the Prozac family of antidepressants: PROZAC: PANACEA OR PANDORA? (2001). The book is the product of many, many years of intensive research, and the cases of approximately 1,000 patients on a long-term basis. Dr. Tracy also has an hour and a half long audio tape/CD, “Help! I Can’t Get Off My Antidepressant!,” which explains the safest withdrawal methods from these antidepressants and how to rebuild the body and brain after the use of these drugs. She has spent the last thirteen years working with patients coming off of these antidepressants. That experience has helped her to know much about the serious and very dangerous withdrawal effects and how to avoid those in coming down off the drugs.

One response to “Emily – Zoloft-induced suicide”

My story of loss has recently been posted on this site under pre-ssri stories.
It happened decades ago. However…The Truth finally surfaced after all this time.

I at age 13 NOT KNOWING had a glimpse not only into the future of something that was going to get so big, and take so many innocent lives, but also NOT KNOWING I too had a glimpse of the past that had already happened, and took many lives even before it hit my families home in 1981 with the loss of my 25 year old sister Lori.

Lives had already been lost due to the invention of these drugs- but the innocent people who soon turned into victims of “suicide” without their concent…never connected the mental changes they were having with the many LEGAL “rx drugs” from yesterday through today!

They were given to people all ages including children..teens and young adults not just for depression but for “other uses” as well. Today it is still given but at any age!
(Families like mine have been in the dark for decades!) UNTIL NOW!

In other words.. when my sister’s SUDDEN death hit our family decades ago.. as I looked through the window at her body with denial and shock I could only think of one thing…SHE DID NOT DO THIS!

What bothered me more than what I saw was the unanswered questions of why? The events leading up to her death just did not make sense.

Something was just not right… something was missing…Nothing made sense to me.

Before her sudden death they labeled suicide..
Her Divorce was final, She fought hard for full custody of her child and won hands down.,she was looking forward to the future. UNTIL SUDDENLY SOMETHING WENT WRONG!

(full details in my story on this site under pre-ssri stories)

Who knew then that I at the age of 13 was right to be suspicious!
IT WAS NOT “SOMEONE” who did it to HER ..IT WAS “SOMETHING” that something was a antidepressant drug called (Imipramine) generic for Tofrinal.
It was used even before prozac came out in the late 1980′s.

Research has showed me that the drug my sister started Aug. 18 1981 not only induced suicidal ideation, but when she stopped because she did not like the way it made her feel physically..she soon after came down with a terrible flu- which we now know was NOT THE FLU BUT THE UNKNOWN WITHDRAWL OF THIS DRUG!
She shot herself on Sept. 22 1981

LORI LOST HER LIFE IN 1981 BECAUSE OF THE CONCEALED INFORMATION OF THE DANGERS OF NOT ONLY STARTING THIS DRUG. BUT STOPPING “COLD TURKEY” WHICH THROUGH HER INTO A DEEP.. DEPRESSION TYPE WITHDRAWL.

Who knew that decades later… the truth would finally surface and that 13 year old girl ME… would finally find her answers that she searched for just about her entire life. (Concealed) information could of saved not only my sister’s life. BUT THE COUNTLESS NUMBERS OF OTHERS LOST DUE TO THESE DRUGS!

LIVES HAVE BEEN TAKEN, FAMILIES HAVE BEEN ROBBED, DESTROYED DUE TO THE ONCE CONCEALED DANGERS OF THESE DRUGS, AND THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

Thanks to Ann Blake Tracy…for working so hard, the research, and making this site available to the public…many families like mine.. will start putting the pieces together as I have, and maybe now…there loved on can finally rest in peace and the families can have some kind of closure if that is possible. There loved one is still gone..but to have the answer to why. is HUGE!

I hope my story helps bring closure to all the families of the lost victims who were mislabeled suicide. These deaths did not have to happen.

(Read Lori’s Full Story and forward to anyone you know who it may help!)
