For people in their late teens
and early 20s, taking an antidepressant may actually increase
the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, at least during initial
treatment. So it’s important that those patients are carefully
monitored.

The
Council of Europe member states will launch an inquiry in January 2010 on the
influence of the pharmaceutical companies on the global swine flu campaign,
focusing especially on extent of the pharma‘s industry’s influence on WHO. The
Health Committee of the EU Parliament has unanimously passed a resolution
calling for the inquiry. The step is a long-overdue move to public transparency
of a “Golden Triangle” of drug corruption between WHO, the pharma industry and
academic scientists that has permanently damaged the lives of millions and even
caused death.

Memories of the year his parents hid a Red Ryder
BB gun behind the Christmas tree come easily to John Stone.
In fact, he can even recount the exact number of
BB cartons he emptied before his parents woke up that frosty morning in
Lewiston, Idaho.
But at 71, John forgets what he had for
breakfast today.
His mind can’t hold a current thought long
enough to retrieve hot dog buns at the grocery store. Or to remember which key
does what on the computer. Or that a dear friend he spoke with at church isn’t a
new acquaintance.

His mental
state now stabilized through medication, Robert T. Hollister has been ruled
competent to stand trial in the stabbing death of his wife, Jeanie “Ellie”

Newport: Sandra Goodrich stood outside her home on Rutland Road on Friday
afternoon, surrounded by her daughter and two good friends who traveled more
than 1,000 miles to be with her.
They talked. They hugged. They laughed.
Considering what had happened inside her house Monday night — as
evidenced by the large bruise on her chin and neck — Goodrich’s mood might seem
surprising. The moments of lightness and fellowship are, and will be, fleeting,
she admits. Goodrich doesn’t know what to do now except live her life, one day
at a time.
