I had the same concerns when I first read Panacea or Pandora. "What is this book trying to do to me ?" I thought. It was only later after getting on top of my health again that I realised the wisdom of the approach. The drugs put you in a hypnotic state where you believe "everything is ok" (spell binding). This is maybe why some people read that book with a growing sense of horror, but that is what compels you to to something about it and to stick to a recovery regime. I'm so glad I did. Thank you Ann !

Sorry if the information makes you feel as though you are doomed for life. That is not the intent, but I refuse to "candy coat" the serious problems with these drugs. The drug makers do a good enough job of that themselves with no help from me at all which is why you now find yourself in the catch 22 you are in.

It is important to note the FDA warning of abrupt discontinuation. They warn that this can lead to suicide, hostility or psychosis. If you are feeling like you are losing your mind while tapering off an antidepressant it is a sign you are tapering much too rapidly and MUST slow down the taper. PLEASE listen to my CD on our site on safe withdrawal (800-280-0730) from antidepressants and atypical antipsychotics so that you will know how to withdraw safely, far less painfully, and how to rebuild after using these drugs. Right now there is a special where you can download the CD free as an MP3 when you order a copy of my book on antidepressants, "Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? - Our Serotonin Nightmare."
