A woman who was suffering from depression died
after taking a cocktail of prescription drugs, an inquest heard.
Bolton
Coroner’s Court heard that Samantha Andrews, aged 32, of Harpford Close, Breightmet,
died after taking drugs including sleeping tablets, anti-depressants and
anti-hystamines.
But Assistant Deputy Coroner Peter Watson said there
was insufficient evidence to prove that Miss Andrews committed suicide and
recorded an open verdict.

Angeles, Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010. Monjack said the portrait by photographer Bruce
Weber was Murphy’s favorite photo of herself. (AP Photo/Chris

A month after Brittany Murphy’s mysterious death, her mother and husband say
they are convinced the actress died of natural causes, not drugs or an eating
disorder.
In an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday, Sharon Murphy and Simon
Monjack said that Murphy did not use drugs or alcohol and that they are awaiting
a determination from coroner’s officials that will end speculation prescription
medicine caused Murphy’s death on Dec. 20 at age 32.
Monjack said some of the prescription medications found in the couple’s
Hollywood Hills home belonged to him.
Murphy had mitral valve prolapse, a common condition where a heart valve does
not properly close, but doctors said the actress “would live a long and healthy
life,” Monjack said.

OKLAHOMA CITY The latest Oklahoma soldier to die in Iraq had become depressed and demoralized by the deaths of friends in combat, and family members suspect he committed suicide, his sister said Friday.
The Defense Department announced Thursday that Spc. Matthew Hastings, 23, of Claremore, died Monday from injuries he received in an incident not related to combat in Baghdad. A cause of death hasn’t been released by military officials, who say an investigation is under way.
Michelle Brazil believes her brother committed suicide based on a recent e-mail his best friend received just before he died.
