CBN 700 Club Blames Antidepressants for Texas Church Massacre

CBN’s Pat Robertson – Antidepressants & Violence

In 2004 or 2005 while traveling home from the FDA antidepressant hearings  Columbine’s Miracle Boy, Mark Taylor, and I did an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) about the dangers of antidepressants. Apparently Pat Robertson listened closely that day and has put 2 and 2 together in summing up the Texas Church Shooting this past week leaving 26 dead & another 20 wounded! Watch him make this statement below…and below that is a video on Mark Taylor’s Fight for Truth about Columbine which includes sections of our CBN interview…..

From the November 6 edition of Christian Broadcasting Networks’ The 700 Club:

Robertson: “I hope and pray they don’t politicize this thing and start talking about gun control and all that because it won’t be necessary”

PAT ROBERTSON (HOST): Do we have a climate of death in this country? What isn’t going on? We understand a lot of these shootings, the people involved have been taking antidepressant drugs, and that may well be the causative factor, but something is going on. Our CBN News national security correspondent Erik Rosales is with us, Erik, there are reports that the shooter turned to atheism and mocked believers. What do you know about him?

ERIK ROSALES: Yeah, he certainly did, Pat. He was very outspoken of his atheistic views on Facebook and would often challenge people on Facebook is what we’re being told. His former classmates describe him as an outcast, simply crazy, and just plain weird. They said that he would often be so outspoken about his atheistic views that he would often just turn people away.

ROBERTSON: He’s mentally unstable. But I hope and pray they don’t politicize this thing and start talking about gun control and all that because it won’t be necessary. But I do think there’s got to be a thorough investigation into the effect of antidepressants on these [inaudible]. And they’ve been so many of these mass killings and almost every one, as I said before, has had some nexus to antidepressants. So, we need to see what we are giving people. But my goodness, our prayers are with those people from that small community in Texas. The worst shooting — church shooting — in the history of the United States of America.

Deadly Drugs – www.SSRIstories.NET

SSRIstories.NET is a database of the cases our group at the International Coalition for Drug Awareness has gathered over the past 2 1/2 decades, including nearly every school shooter and mass shooter in the country. The question remains in all of these cases as to the level of consciousness of the perpetrator – something that is never tested in the court cases and should be. (Tragically in this case that is no longer an option.) Testing is still back in the dark ages with blood levels of drugs rather than brain waves which will detect the level of consciousness and therefore culpability. These are drugs that accumulate in brain tissue at an alarming rate. Testing the blood tells us nothing about the level of toxicity.

EXCESS SEROTONIN PRODUCES EXTREME VIOLENCE

What so many were not aware of is that an increase in serotonin by an accompanying decrease in one’s ability to metabolize serotonin was long known to produce both impulsive murder and suicide. See this study out of the Southern California:

ANTIDEPRESSANTS PRODUCE SLEEP DISORDER KNOWN TO

INCLUDE BOTH MURDER AND SUICIDE

What the world remains unaware of is the fact is that 86% of those who are diagnosed with the most deadly sleep disorder known as REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) are currently taking antidepressants. REM Sleep Disorder is a condition in which there is no paralysis during sleep thus allowing the patient to act out the dreams or nightmares they are having. Tragically 80% of those going into this sleep disorder hurt themselves or others including both murder and suicide as a result.

This is possibly the most deadly of all reactions one can have to antidepressants. Even more frightening though is to learn that before the introduction of the SSRI antidepressants RBD was known mainly as a drug withdrawal effect. Thus the chances of going into this dangerous reaction should be expected to increase as one goes into withdrawal. This is why it is so important to avoid as much of the withdrawal effects as possible by tapering off the antidepressant very, very slowly. Feel free to join us on Facebook to learn more about this disorder on our Antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Disorder group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/106704639660883/

See more information below on safe withdrawal from antidepressants. Never ever ever ever attempt to come off one of these medications without researching the antidepressant withdrawal extensively! It is so important to learn all you can first in order to save yourself possibly years of misery.

Two School Shootings in the News on Columbine’s 18th Anniversary

Today, Thursday, April 20, 2017, marks the 18th anniversary of the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado and marks the day after Barry Loukitis, in one of the first school shootings in this country, was once again given 189 years for killing a teacher and two classmates in Moses Lake, WA while no mention of these drugs and the role they played in that case has ever been mentioned in his defense! And while the real guilty parties in these school shootings continue to live in plush luxury with no repercussions whatsoever to this day!

The 12 students listed below and one teacher, William “Dave” Sanders, 47, were killed during the attack on the morning of April 20, 1999. And Eric Harris and Dylan Kleebold lost their lives in either a double suicide or a murder/suicide after the attack. Today we remember all the lives that were lost that day as well as those were severely injured and those whose lives were changed forever when Eric and Dylan reacted to their antidepressants:

Cassie Bernall, 17
Steven Curnow, 14
Corey DePooter, 17
Kelly Fleming, 16
Matthew Kechter, 16
Daniel Mauser, 15
Daniel Rohrbough, 15
Rachel Scott, 17
Isaiah Shoels, 18
John Tomlin, 16
Lauren Townsend, 18
Kyle Velasquez, 16

The day this happened I was on the phone with Ruben Ortega, Chief of Police in Salt Lake City, discussing with him some local tragedies to help him to understand the impact of these drugs upon the community he served and the public as a whole. The Salt Lake Family History Library shooting had recently happened with an elderly Russian man killing two before being shot. That elderly Russian man had an experience very similar to the German Wings pilot who two years ago took a plane with 150 to their deaths as he flew it into a mountain side in the Alps. This elderly Russian man noticed that he was losing his eyesight as a result of his antidepressant so he just stopped taking it with NO IDEA what that can cause! (If you see the REM Sleep Disorder listed in the Evidence section on School Shootings you will see the reaction he had that morning on his daily walk past the Family History Library as he opened fire killing one of my dear friends, Don Thomas, whom I had warned over and over again about the danger he was in there as the Family History Library security guard.) As Chief Ortega learned more and more about how these drugs work and how they can produce psychosis and violence and are so very similar in action to a slow fuse LSD or PCP he mentioned that was the case in the recent KSL shooting as well. The woman who came into that building shooting and killing a woman who worked there and her unborn child was also on one of these drugs. He then asked me, “Do you think what is going on right now in that school shooting in Littleton, CO could be caused by these drugs as well?” I replied that I did not generally see a case where two people go off the deep end on these drugs at the same time, but if they commit suicide too, you can bet it is one of these cases.” I was to later learn that about the same time I was making that statement to Chief Ortega is when Eric and Dylan lost their lives to the suicidal ideation we now have warnings are doubled for those under the age of 25 who take these drugs.

Mark Taylor’s Fight for Columbine

Please watch Mark Taylor’s Fight For Columbine to see how this tragedy has never gone away for Mark and has only gotten worse for him after he filed suit against the antidepressant maker of Luvox . Luvox is the antidepressant Eric Harris was taking when he shot Mark. And before anyone starts in on we don’t have any evidence of Dylan being on anything you need to know  that a girlfriend of Dylan’s came to Mark Taylor’s mother and then spoke with me about trying to help Dylan come off his Zoloft and Paxil (the same drug found guilty in the suicide of one of the nations’ leading attorneys.

Claire Davis, Shot in Arapahoe, CO School Shooting Died Today

Claire Davis

CLAIRE DAVIS, DIED SATURDAY

FROM INJURIES ARAPAHOE SCHOOL SHOOTING

At the makeshift memorial at Arapahoe High School today many came to say their goodbyes. Shannon Wilhelm cried and held her son tightly in her arms. “Being a parent, the fact that you have to lose your child around the holidays or any time, it’s just not something you want anyone to go through,” she said.

Last Friday Karl Pierson set off one of the incendiary devices he brought into Arapahoe High School just eight miles from Columbine and fired five shots before killing himself just one minute and 20 seconds after entering the building and being confronted by an armed guard. In that minute and 20 seconds he also shot 17 year old Claire Davis who was just sitting with a friend.

Sadly today Claire Davis the high school senior shot last week in the Arapahoe High School shooting died at 4:29 p.m. in the Littleton Adventist Hospital after eight days on life support. Even though we have not had the opportunity to visit for several months now, Claire passed away in Littleton at the same time I was visiting over the phone with Mark Taylor in Denver. Mark was the first boy shot at Columbine High School.

Ironically Claire reminds me so much of Rachel Scott, the first girl shot at Columbine High School. Besides looking so much alike, they both were so very sweet and caring – beautiful on the outside as well as beautiful on the inside.

Classmate Maggie Hurlbut said of Claire, “One time I remember I was upset in the hallway, and she came up to me and she just – it was like, `Hey Maggie, I know we don’t know each other well but are you doing OK?’ And I told her yeah, and she was like, `Anything you need, I’m here for you,'”… “she just wants to take care of others, and that was really just a good representation of her character and who she was.”

Allison Bruhn, a junior at Arapahoe, arrived Saturday evening just as she had the previous eight days….”I’ve been coming every night and praying for an hour, praying that Claire would be OK, that she would get better,” she said. “Our school loves Claire. She was such a nice and giving person.”

Although we do not know yet if Karl was prescribed an antidepressant which could have contributed to his violent behavior and suicidal behavior, both adverse drug reactions known to double in this age group if given an antidepressant. We do know that 68 out of the 70 school violence incidents investigated thus far have found a perpetrator on an antidepressant: http://www.drugawareness.org/ssri-nightmares/school-shootings/ Increasing serotonin – the mode of action of antidepressants – has LONG been known to produce impulsive murder and suicide http://www.drugawareness.org/fda-testimony/dr-ann-blake-tracys-september-13-2004-to-the-fda .

Listen to a school shooting suspect describe what happened to him when he took a gun to school and what triggered it for him: http://www.drugawareness.org/recentcasesblog/why-i-took-a-gun-to-school-1

As I have said so many times before, our world cannot afford these losses! We have lost far too many loving, caring, and brilliant individuals. We need them here! We cannot afford to let any more of them leave! Something must be done to prevent this from continuing!

Yet another school shooting today with reporters asking why another in Colorado again?

I can tell them why!

Original article: http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/13/us/colorado-school-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Yet another school shooting today with reporters asking why another in Colorado again?

I can tell them why! It is because when Columbine happened they used the funds coming in to help the survivors to build a new counseling center where they peddled antidepressants like crazy! The kids could not even pick up their mail from those sending condolences to them unless they picked them up at the new counseling center where they would of course do all they could to put more of them on the meds. And it was not just the children, but whole families. Therefore much of Colorado became medicated at that point.

We then began to watch more and more cases involving antidepressants came in from Colorado.

So now we wait to see how long it will take to find out what this young man was taking. But while we wait I would encourage you all to share with as many as you can our list of school shootings: http://www.drugawareness.org/ssri-nightmares/school-shootings/ along with our list of school shootings in video format: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpFoivbZH1o&feature=youtu.be and our video of a school shooting incident Why I Took a Gun to School … http://www.drugawareness.org/recentcasesblog/why-i-took-a-gun-to-school-1 where the young man who took a gun to school while under the influence of Effexor and in withdrawal from Paxil explains what happened to him. As far as I know this is the only interview of a school shooter talking about what happened because most commit suicide after as this young man did today in Colorado.

Also see this same young man involved in that shooting incident as he joins together with Mark Taylor, the first boy shot at Columbine High, to tell the world why these shootings continue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPOcNp5OgyY

MARK TAYLOR’S FIGHT FOR COLUMBINE

mark

FEAT-IMGsm-Mark_Taylor-01

 MARK ALLEN TAYLOR

On April 20, 1999 Eric Harris opened fire outside Columbine High School. Standing with his friends having a discussion on the Bible was Mark Allen Taylor. The first bullets hit Mark with anywhere from 7 – 13 entering his body. The damage was so great that doctors could not determine the number of bullets that entered. The following video documents Mark’s life from that moment on. Click to view: http://youtu.be/XH7m-YNApU4

https://www.facebook.com/ReleaseMarkTaylor

Our webmaster for the International Coalition for Drug Awareness at www.drugawareness.org, Todd Bentley, who is Mark’s best friend and my incredible son-in-law and best father to my grandchildren anyone could ask for, put this video together and entered it in an Infowars contest (thus the reference to Infowars. I encourage you to share this everywhere!

I am extremely concerned about Mark’s health due to the damaging effects of the drugs he has been forced to take. He has worked long and hard in fighting this battle to bring awareness about the dangers of antidepressants and the truth about the cause of school shootings. And I do believe what he has been through is payback for the effectiveness of the battle he fought.

Now Mark needs our help to set him free from the system that is destroying him! What damage he suffered at Columbine is NOTHING in comparrison to the damage he has suffered from the past several years of forced drugging with the same drugs he was working so hard to warn society about!

Go to www.drugawareness.org to donate and help us raise the necessary funds to get the legal help he needs to set him free and safely withdraw from the medications that are killing him!

“Very bold & informative”

“Priceless information that is giving me back to me”

“The absolute best reference for antidepressant drugs”

“Well documented & scientifically researched”

““I was stunned at the amount of research Ann Tracy has done on this subject. Few researchers go to as much trouble aggressively gathering information on the adverse reactions of Prozac, Zoloft and other SSRIs.”

WITHDRAWAL HELP CD TESTIMONIALS:

“Ann, I just wanted to let you know from the bottom of my heart how grateful I am God placed you in my life. I am now down to less than 2 mg on my Cymbalta and I have never felt better. I am finally getting my life back. I can feel again and colors have never been brighter. Thanks for all that you do!!” … Amber Weber

“Used your method of weaning off of SSRI’s and applied it to Ambien. Took 6 months but had been on 15 mg for years so what was another 6 months. I have been sleeping without it for 2 weeks and it is the first time I have been able to sleep drug free for 15 years. What a relief to be able to lay down and sleep when I need or want to. Ambien may be necessary for people at times but doctors giving a months worth of it at a time with unlimited refills is a prescription for disaster. It is so damn easy to become dependent on. Thanks for your council Ann.”… Mark Hill

Intro to Columbine Victim Mark Taylor’s Fight for Columbine

Mark Taylor

Columbine Victim Mark Taylor

Mark was the first boy shot at Columbine High School when Eric Harris opened fire on April 20, 1999. Today is the anniversary of that tragic day. We have been working to produce a video to show what Mark has been doing since Columbine and where he is now. Below you will find an introduction of what we are putting together and should have available for you within the next couple of days giving you insight into some of the information about Columbine you never knew – especially surrounding Mark’s case against Solvay, the manufacturers of the antidepressant, Luvox, which Eric was taking when he shot Mark 7 – 13 times.

PLEASE HELP US GET SOME CRITICAL INFORMATION OUT TO THE PUBLIC

Mark Taylor
MARK ALLEN TAYLOR

(FIRST BOY SHOT AT COLUMBINE HIGH)

At the International Coalition for Drug Awareness we have been in the process of putting together some very critical information on antidepressants and school shootings and other acts of violence for the Columbine anniversary and we need your help. For over two decades I have worked to fund by myself most all of what we have done in the raising awareness of the dangers of antidepressants (mortgaging my own home multiple times and putting the funds from our materials back into this). But after a couple of decades at this point I do not have any funding to help when we now need to gather some of the most critical information yet – information that should REALLY help to wake up society. So I am asking for help from all of you to help us do that.

We have been informed that to get this information it is going to cost us between $400 – $600. Any of you who can help us in any way we urgently need your help! This is because we need to get the information BEFORE the Columbine anniversary on April 20 to get media attention from that. (I am sorry because of the late notice. It took me some time to track this information down and I would have sent this request out much sooner had it not been for the terrible accident my brother suffered last week – thank you for the prayers as they have produced miracles but things are still extremely critical.)

Please help if you can! Any amount so that we can get this done will be GREATLY appreciated and this information will be shared with the world. Much of this information most have been unaware of before and this will bring it to public light. I firmly believe it will make a BIG difference in this battle we are waging for truth about these drugs. I know you will be excited to share this as soon as we get it. PLEASE go to our website to make your donation now:

http://www.drugawareness.org/contact/support-the-site

Then watch over the next couple of weeks for this explosive information to begin to be posted from our DrugAwareness.org site!

Thank you!

FDA WHISTLEBLOWER SPEAKS OUT – THINK YOU HAVE DRUG SAFETY? BETTER THINK AGAIN!!

551037 10151181872387931 452514515 a[1]

Prescription drugs, taken as prescribed (according to FDA guidelines), are the third leading cause of death in American (according to THEIR figures which could easily be tampered with to keep the figures lower than what they really are). This article will help you to see why we are seeing such a large number of deaths as a result of the FDA’s policies.

Another FDA whistleblower has stepped forward, and what he has to say about the agency’s drug safety reviews is shocking even to the jaded reports my friend Dr. Joesph Mercola. This article is an alarming wake up call for those who have been under the assumption that the FDA has the public safety in mind & is busy protecting our health & safety.

Learn how the FDA bypassed or ignored safety issues on major drug approvals from Ronald Kavanagh, who was a drug reviewer for the FDA in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research from 1998 to 2008
He reveals some of the internal rules of the FDA that are clearly designed to thwart serious safety reviews from the get-go, and other loopholes frequently used by drug companies to circumvent safety investigations
Five years ago, a Subcommittee on Science and Technology report entitled “FDA Science and Mission at Risk” detailed how the FDA cannot fulfill its mission, in part because its scientific base has eroded and its scientific organizational structure is weak
The subcommittee concluded the FDA’s failures place the health of Americans and the financial health of the nation at grave risk

On September 13, 2004 Mark Taylor, the first boy shot at Columbine High School, stood before the FDA and asked them where their protection was the day he and his classmates were shot. He then told them that if they had been doing their jobs Columbine would have never happened. You will find his testimony before the FDA Advisory Committee on the safety of antidepressants in children chilling:

“I am Mark Allen Taylor and I am a victim of the SSRI antidepressant era. I took six to thirteen bullets in the heart area in the Columbine High School shooting when Eric Harris on Luvox opened fire that now infamous day. They almost had to amputate my leg and my arm. My heart missed by only one millimeter. I had three surgeries. Five years later I am still recuperating.

“I went through all this to realize that SSRI antidepressants are dangerous for those who take them and for all those who associate with those who take them. I hope that my testimony today shows you that you need to take action immediately before more innocent people like me, and you, do not get hurt or die horrible deaths as a result. As Americans we should have the right to feel safe and if you were doing your job we would be safe. Why are we worrying about terrorists in other countries when the pharmaceutical companies have proven to be our biggest terrorists by releasing these drugs on an unsuspecting public? How are we suppose to feel safe at school, at home, on the street, at church or anywhere else if we cannot trust the FDA to do what we are paying you to do? Where were you when I and all of my classmates got shot at Columbine?

“You say that antidepressants are effective. So why did they not help Eric Harris before he shot me? According to Eric they “helped” him to feel homicidal and suicidal after only six weeks on Zoloft. And then he said that dropping off Luvox cold turkey would help him “fuel the rage” he needed to shoot everyone. But he continued on Luvox and shot us all anyway.

“So, why did these so called antidepressants not make him better? I will tell you why. It is because they do not work.

“We should consider antidepressants to be accomplices to murder.”

Former FDA Reviewer Speaks Out About Suppression of Safety:

According to FDA whistleblower Ronald Kavanagh people would be shocked if they knew just how malleable safety data is. As examples, he points out that human studies are typically too short and contain too few subjects to get a clear picture of potential risks. In such a scenario, even a single case of a serious adverse event must be taken very seriously, and data from other longer term safety studies also need to be carefully analyzed. [This “even a single case of a serious adverse event must be taken very seriously” was our reasoning in putting the SSRIstories.com database in place. We did not want even one of these tragic cases to go unnoticed!]

The nation is at risk if FDA science is at risk…

“On one occasion, the company even told me they were going to call upper management to get a clear requirement for approval that they did not want to fulfill eliminated, which I then saw happen. On another occasion a company clearly stated in a meeting that they had “paid for an approval,” Kavanagh says.

Pediatric drugs also end up posing unnecessary risks due to the FDA’s failure to adequately review safety risks, and the many scientific loopholes employed by pharmaceutical companies. For example, the following flawed parameters are typically used in pediatric drug studies:

Dosages are based on approved adult dosages, without regard for metabolic differences between a developing child’s body and an adult
Exposure studies oftentimes use overweight children, and include too few children to adequately evaluate risks
No allowances are made for race, age, puberty, or actual weight
Dangers to pregnant women and their developing fetuses are also frequently ignored. The cost to us all is great whether we have taken these dangerous & deadly drugs or not, we all pay the price in higher insurance costs, higher taxes to support those now disabled and loss in productivity and contribution to society by those lost to the deadly effects of these unsafe drugs. All in all, the FDA appears to be engaged in a systematic hush-operation designed to give just about anything Big Pharma develops the green light. Essentially, dangerous drugs are given a rubber stamp of approval—the necessary go-ahead to make obscene profits while killing and injuring hundreds of thousands daily. It is, quite simply, inexcusable. The mainstream media has a lot to answer for as well, as their lack of reporting on these issues contributes to the problem by keeping a lid on reality.

Do I believe our media should be held accountable? Without a doubt! I have seen sections of newspapers discontinued for continuing to publish my information on antidepressant, major television shows canceled for doing a show on this subject, etc. This failure to warn on their part leaves blood on their hands as well. We NEED investigative reporters willing to cover the truth about something as critical as our health like Martha Rosenburg, the author of the original article containing this interview with an FDA whistleblower for the online news magazine Truth-Out. Our very lives are at stake in this. This is why Our International Coalition for Drug Awareness site is dedicated to the Washington Post reporter Morton Mintz who was awarded for his reporting keeping the deadly drug Thalidomide off the market in the United States. He is author of the incredible book giving us a very early warning of this approaching nightmare via the FDA, titled appropriately A Therapeutic Nightmare: A report on prescription drugs, the men who make them, and the agency that controls them (1965). In a telephone conversation in 1994 Morton Mintz told me to not to waste my time, energy, & resources publishing my book Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare because no one would bother to read it & heed the warning just as they had not read his book & heeded the warning contained there. Then to my utter shock & amazement he told me that only 5000 copies of his book sold – an absolutely amazing book that I would recommend everyone have a copy of in their library!

This FDA whistleblower goes on to say that the FDA works to discredit whistleblowers & then even make it clear that speaking out may not only cost them their jobs, but also cost them their lives. Is that what has happened to Columbine survivor Mark Taylor? In face the evidence seems quite clear that this is the case. He may have survived 7 – 13 bullets at Columbine, but surviving the pharma mafia after speaking out against these drugs is another story! Pray for Mark! PLEASE!!!

PROZAC: Suicide: Woman Set Herself on Fire: England

Paragraph nine reads:  “By this time she was also
taking Prozac
and diazepam and had been given
several referrals for alcohol treatment programmes.”

Note:  The Physicians Desk Reference states that antidepressants can cause a craving for alcohol and
alcohol abuse. Also, the liver cannot
metabolize the antidepressant and the alcohol simultaneously,  thus leading
to higher levels of both alcohol and the antidepressant in the human
body.

Brighton mum who set herself on fire was depressed after redundancy,
inquest hears

2:33pm Thursday 19th November 2009

A Brighton mother-of-two committed suicide by dousing herself in barbecue lighter
fluid and setting it alight after battling with a chronic alcohol problem and
depression since being made redundant, an inquest heard today.

Birgit Bartlett’s body was found by her daughter in the garden of her home in
Hollingbury Crescent on August 8.

An inquest at Brighton County Court
heard the 51-year-old died of suffocation after inhaling the flames which
enveloped her body.

Pathologist Mark Taylor, who carried out a
post-mortem examination, said she had an acute thermal injury to her windpipe
and believed she would have died “rapidly”.

Mr Taylor said she had low
levels of alcohol in her blood, equal to having consumed around four units, but
added that he found excess fat around her liver, “in keeping with her history of
chronic alcohol abuse,” although this did not contribute to her death.

Mrs Bartlett’s husband, Michael, said his wife began drinking heavily
when she was made redundant in 2007 and he and his adult son and daughter would
often find empty bottles of wine hidden around the house.

In 2008 she
stopped drinking when she became employed as an admin assistant, but took it up
again when she lost the job in February of this year.

This time her
alcohol abuse was worse, and she took to drinking a bottle of spirits a day. Mr
Bartlett said the family confiscated her credit cards and cheque book in a bid
to stop her.

By this time she was also taking Prozac and diazepam and
had been given several referrals for alcohol treatment programmes.

During a visit to her GP in March she denied thoughts of suicide but
admitted she had been feeling low, before she was admitted to hospital in May
after setting fire to her duvet cover while in bed.

She suffered third
degree burns to her thigh and lower back and was referred to the local community
mental health team.

The inquest heard that German-born Mrs Bartlett had
no previous psychiatric problems but her sister had committed suicide six years
ago.

Psychiatrist Graham Walton said he saw Mrs Bartlett three times in
July but said he felt “she didn’t want to engage” with him.

He said he
did not think she seemed suicidal but “she did admit there was endless
drinking”.

Mr Bartlett said his wife underwent a detoxification
programme to try to stop her from drinking and said she felt “ashamed” of her
condition.

“She was petrified that somebody she knew would see her going
in or out,” he added.

In the days leading up to her death she told him,
“I’ll never find another job” and “I’m no good”, the inquest heard.

On

the day she died Mr Bartlett said he noticed she was missing so thought she
might have gone for a walk and he searched her local haunts. He arrived back at
the house at around 1.30pm to find police, fire engines and ambulances outside.

Detective Sergeant Helen Paine of Sussex
Police
told the inquest that officers were satisfied that there were no
suspicious circumstances surrounding Mrs Bartlett’s death.

Summing up,
Dr Karen Henderson, assistant deputy coroner for Brighton and Hove, said the
inquest had found “little evidence that she seriously wished to stop drinking”.

She added: “She was also offered a lot of help from social services, her
GP, and from substance misuse services. It is quite clear she did not wish to
engage with these services.

“The manner of her death is truly terrible
but we have heard evidence that her death would have been mercifully brief and
mercifully painless.”

Recording a verdict of suicide, she added: “I know
that the family did everything they possibly could to help Birgit,” and offered
them her condolences.

Mr Bartlett declined to comment on the hearing.
