Antidepressants may have caused Robin Williams suicide

Just in from our Washington State Director of ICFDA and my comment is:

“After specializing in adverse reactions to antidepressants and testifying in cases for almost 25 years I will say Marlon is exactly right. In fact I and our organization, The International Coalition for Drug Awareness, put together a database of about 5000 cases at www.ssristories.net which has been used in medical studies to discuss this reaction involving suicide as well as murder.

“In Robin’s case I fear it may have been a reaction to the drugs known as a REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) where you act out nightmares in a sleep state. Of those being diagnosed with RBD 86% of the patients are currently taking an antidepressant. Murder and suicide have both been seen in RBD. But before these drugs RBD was known mainly as a drug withdrawal state. And with Robin recently in rehab it is far too likely that there were medication changes going on which can trigger these reactions.

“Such a tragic loss for us all! When will the world wake up to the dangers of these deadly drugs?!

“When I was the expert in comedian Phil Hartman’s death and we got a wrongful death settlement for both his and his wife’s deaths I thought that might wake up the world, but no one even paid any attention. Hopefully in Robin’s passing it will wake up the world and save many lives! But what a terrible price to pay in order to learn this!”

ANTIDEPRESSANT?? Another Great Comedian, Robin Williams, Lost to Suicide or Murder by Prescription?

Robin WilliamsRobin Williams 1951 – 2014

The question remains…HOW MANY MEDS CAN ONE TAKE WITH SUICIDE WARNINGS BEFORE THE SYNERGISTIC EFFECTS PRODUCE SUICIDE WHEN WARNINGS INDICATE ONLY ONE IS ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SUICIDE???

From the  Levadopa package insert warnings we read: “All patients should be observed carefully for the development of depression with concomitant suicidal tendencies”

Of course this same warning comes with “any antidepressant ever approved by the FDA or any antidepressant to ever be approved by the FDA in the future” ….. the wording of such a comprehensive warning still rings in my ears as I stood in anticipation to hear the conclusion of the FDA Advisory Committee a decade ago. Sadly that warning was not comprehensive enough to save one of America’s most beloved comedians.

Today the toxicology confirmed all I said – statements I got a lot of flack for even from those who are suppose to know how deadly these antidepressants are! Several of Robin’s close friends have also said they thought these drugs caused his suicide. Now, according to the article below, we know that Robin Williams was on THREE prescription drugs that carry suicide as a warning!!! He was taking two antidepressants (antidepressants should never be given together due to the toxic effects of doing so) along with an anti-Parkinson drug also known to produce suicide as a side effect.

Just how much did they think he was capable of warding off those powerful mind altering effects?! After working these cases for 25 years I would say his family should not even hesitate in filing a wrongful death case in his behalf! He would not have had a chance on that combination of drugs! “Williams had two types of antidepressants in his system when he died, as well as a Parkinson’s medication, caffeine and another ingredient found in tea and cocoa, the autopsy found.”

In 1998 the world lost comedian Phil Hartman in a tragic murder/suicide. Pfizer, the makers of Zoloft, settled a wrongful death suit for their deaths brought against them by the Hartman children, Sean and Birgin. We also came too close to losing Jim Carey and Roseanne Barr to the same medications that took Phil from us – antidepressants. But just how similar was Robin William’s situation to that of singer Del Shannon who was lost to antidepressants in 1990?

Del Shannon (Charles Westover) died February 8, 1990. February 26, 1990 People ran a ridiculous article titled “Singer Del Shoots Himself, Leaving Others to Wonder Why He Ran Away” It went on to say, “For now, Shannon’s family and friends, like the character in the singer’s most famous song, can only wonder why.”

In September of 1991 I met Del’s wife, Lee Anne, after she had learned why she lost Del. We became fast friends when we both testified before the FDA Advisory Committee on Prozac induced suicide. We were to later learn that the members of that committee had major vested interests in the millions but were allowed to sign wavers stating that those funds would not influence their vote that day. And so the committee reassured the world that Prozac was not causing suicides as they ran home to count their money coming in from the drug makers.

From the beginning Del’s wife believed her husband’s death must have been an accident. “Del was too loving, too considerate a person to do something like this,” she says. “He would never do it, knowing it would hurt those who loved him.”

By the time we met a year and a half later she had learned his death was murder, pre-meditated murder via Prozac with the culpable parties being Eli Lilly and his family physician. Del’s career was beginning to really take off again and he was quickly reaching burn out. So he had gone to his family doctor who suggested Prozac. After going very holistic to beat a previous alcohol addiction Del refused the prescription because he did not want to use chemicals of any kind any longer. So the doctor told him that Prozac was not a chemical, but a mineral he was missing! Three weeks later he shot himself after kissing his wife as she left for the grocery store.

The People magazine article addressed his previous drinking problem: “When I was 20, I was drinking,” Shannon told the Los Angeles Times last year. “When I was 30, I was drinking more, and at 40, way too much.”

The one major issue that caught my attention in 1990 with this first SSRI antidepressant, Prozac, the mother of all SSRI and SNRI antidepressants, was the compulsion to drink alcohol. Living in Salt Lake City at the time I watched Mormons raised without any alcohol become staggering alcoholics almost overnight when given Prozac. Then as Zoloft was introduced we found it to be doing the same and such has been the case with all of these serotonergic medications since then. Someone who has a problem with alcohol should NEVER be given an antidepressant because of the potential of these drugs to produce these overwhelming cravings for alcohol!

Did Del’s use of Prozac bring those cravings for alcohol back making him think he could never overcome his addiction that he was so sure he had beaten leading him to lose all hope? The possibility is a strong one with more recent studies showing that almost half of those who take SSRIs after a problem with alcohol will INCREASE their drinking. Del’s wife did file a wrongful death suit and I have no doubt in my own mind (for many varied reasons) that case was settled by Eli Lilly and the doctor who lied to Del.

According to reports Robin Williams had recently been dealing with alcohol problems and went into rehab. Rehabs are notorious for prescribing antidepressants! I would hope his family would persue this and look for what really happened to Robin. If an antidepressant had been consumed this was not a suicide, but a premeditated murder! Warnings should be given for those who have had problems with alcohol or drugs in the past.

As for the Parkinson’s he was diagnosed with, I have no doubt that was caused by the antidepressants they had given him because Parkinson’s symptoms were the very first adverse reactions seen with the mother drug of all these antidepressants, Prozac. Antidepressants can cause all kinds of movement disorders, the worst being akathisia which is a Greek term meaning “can’t sit still.” It is also known to trigger suicide.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Robin Williams’ autopsy found no alcohol or illegal drugs were in his body when he killed himself at his Northern California home in August, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

The results released by the Marin County sheriff’s office found that the actor had taken prescription medications, but in “therapeutic concentrations.”

The coroner ruled Williams’ death a suicide that resulted from asphyxia due to hanging.

Sheriff’s officials have said Williams was found in the bedroom of his home in Tiburon on the morning of Aug. 11. His death had been preliminarily ruled a suicide, with sheriff’s officials saying he hanged himself with a belt.

Williams’ wife, Susan Schneider, has said the actor and comedian was struggling with depression, anxiety and a recent Parkinson’s diagnosis when his personal assistant found him dead.

Williams had publicly acknowledged periodic struggles with substance abuse, and he had entered a substance abuse program shortly before his death. According to the coroner’s report, his wife told an investigator Williams did not go there because of recent drug or alcohol abuse, but rather to reaffirm the principles of his rehabilitation.

According to his wife, Williams was having trouble sleeping and had shown increased signs of paranoia before he committed suicide, the autopsy report said. Medical records confirmed he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in November 2013 but had symptoms since 2011, including a left arm tremor and the slowing of left hand movements. Treatments with drugs in May 2014 led to some improvement, according to the report, and he remained physically active until his death.

Williams had two types of antidepressants in his system when he died, as well as a Parkinson’s medication, caffeine and another ingredient found in tea and cocoa, the autopsy found.

Authorities have said Williams was last seen alive by his wife when she went to bed the night of Aug. 10. She woke up the next morning and left, thinking he was still asleep elsewhere in the house.

Shortly after that, Williams’ assistant came to the home and became concerned when he failed to respond to knocks at a door. The assistant found the 63-year-old actor in a bedroom, according to sheriff’s officials.

Williams also had superficial cuts on his wrist, and a pocketknife was found nearby.

The results of Williams’ autopsy, including the toxicology tests, were originally slated to be released Sept. 20. Marin County officials later announced a Nov. 3 release date, but the report was further delayed. Toxicology reports routinely take up to six weeks to complete.

Former Utah man accused of killing his wife, a Filipina model

Aiko Jim 3

Aiko and James Edward Moore II

After beating his wife to death Jim Moore then called his first wife to apologize for everything he had ever done, alluded to committing suicide, then hung up and attempted to kill himself. This has left his visiting five year old son stranded at an orphanage in the Philippines.

His comment on this picture in May: “Aiko, you are absolutely gorgeous, radiant and blooming, and this photo only begins to capture that essence. How did I get so lucky?”

Another entry on January 1 reads: “HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Greatest Holiday Season EVER!! What more could a father ask for? A loving wife, endearing children, and all together for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. This is a first for me, and I must say, I wouldn’t trade it up for the world!! I love u all!”

Someone stated in the comments on the following news article about the murder/suicide attempt that this is a nightmare. My response follows:

“A nightmare is right! Now to learn if it was literally a nightmare as it was the case in the murder of comedian Phil Hartman where his wife acted out her nightmare in a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder. Someone needs to ask if Jim was taking an antidepressant (often given after a divorce) because these drugs produce REM Sleep Behavior Disorder known to produce both murder and suicide. In fact 86% of those diagnosed with this deadly sleep disorder are taking antidepressants. Did he stop taking it when he remarried and then start again when the typhoon hit? According to FDA warnings, these abrupt changes in dose can cause suicide, hostility and/or psychosis. There were indications of all three of those in this case.

“Here is your clue that this was not just a normal argument but that something went terribly wrong: “At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Seddon said she got an incoherent phone call from her ex-husband, James Edward Moore II.

“He basically told me that he’s very sorry for everything that’s happened, that he’s done, to please forgive him,” Seddon said.

“Seddon said Moore threatened suicide, then hung up.” See full articles below…

Remember the case of the elderly man, David Benson, in Southern Utah, who last year on Halloween morning hit his wife in the kitchen in the back of the head with a hammer, then beat her to death with the hammer by hitting her in the face while under the influence of multiple prescription meds. This was a couple so much in love that friends and neighbors said seeing them together was like watching two 16 year olds in love.

As I said in the blog on the case I posted last night of the young man in SLC who stabbed his grandmother 111 times a drug company expert was compelled to testify of his own research on serotonin in a mass murder/suicide case in WY in 2001 (Tobin vs Glaxo). His work, as so many other studies on serotonin since 1950 determined as well, when you impair the body’s ability to metabolize serotonin (serotonin reuptake inhibition – considered the therapeutic aspect of antidepressants) you produce impulsive murder and suicide. The jury determined after hearing all the evidence (something the public has never heard) that the two tablets of antidepressants the man had taken was the main cause of this murder/suicide.

ANTIDEPRESSANT??? Spanaway, WA Husband Confesses to Killing Wife & Daughter, Before Attempting to Kill Self

gLi3R.St

Dean Holmes in Spanaway, WA turned himself in this past Wednesday admitting that Tuesday night he had shot his wife multiple times while she slept. He then woke up his 11 year old daughter & her friend who was sleeping over. After dropping off the friend at her home, he then drove back toward his home while his daughter fell asleep in the back seat of the car. At that point he stopped the car, got out & through the back window shot his daughter multiple times. He then drove through a McDonalds for breakfast with his daughter’s body still in the back seat. After returning home he placed his daughter’s body next to her mother in bed & attempted to shoot himself. When he could not pull the trigger he drove to the police department & turned himself in.

Here is the comment I posted on this article in response to a friend of the family who had stated she could not understand because Dean appeared to love his wife & daughter so much.:

“Washington state is loaded to the gills with antidepressants! Do you know what these drugs do? They cause you to act out your worst nightmare & that is called a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD). Of those being diagnosed with RBD 86% are taking an antidepressant. And of those suffering RBD 80% hurt themselves or someone else. If Dean seemed to really love his wife & daughter this would have been his worst nightmare. Someone had better start asking about meds! (By the way I was the expert in comedian Phil Hartman’s murder/suicide & their wrongful death suit has been settled by the makers of Zoloft.)”

WITHDRAWAL HELP CD TESTIMONIALS:

“Ann, I just wanted to let you know from the bottom of my heart how grateful I am God placed you in my life. I am now down to less than 2 mg on my Cymbalta and I have never felt better. I am finally getting my life back. I can feel again and colors have never been brighter. Thanks for all that you do!!” … Amber Weber

“Used your method of weaning off of SSRI’s and applied it to Ambian. Took 6 months but had been on 15 mg for years so what was another 6 months. I have been sleeping without it for 2 weeks and it is the first time I have been able to sleep drug free for 15 years. What a relief to be able to lay down and sleep when I need or want to. Ambien may be necessary for people at times but doctors giving a months worth of it at a time with unlimited refills is a prescription for disaster. It is so damn easy to become dependent on. Thanks for your council Ann.”… Mark Hill

“I’m so thankful for Ann Blake-Tracy and all her work. Also for taking the time out to talk to me and educate everyone! She has been a blessing to me during this awful time of antidepressant hell!” … Antoinette Beck

ANTIDEPRESSANT: SIX DEAD: DAMIAN RZESZOWSKI NOT GUILTY IN MASS MURDER CASE

N0439001344860140469A[1]

This beautiful little girl is Kinga Rzeszowski (5) who was stabbed to death along with her mother, younger brother, maternal grandfather, friend & her friend’s mother by her father who then stabbed himself 40 times even to the point of collapsing one of his lungs, then slashed his throat & wrists another 20 times! A jury in the UK has just found him not guilty of murder, but guilt of the lesser charge of manslaughter. A day or two before the murder he had overdosed on antidepressants. Few realize that as the serotonin rises you have an LSD or PCP reaction because the body reacts to LSD or PCP as a rush of serotonin. They mimic serotonin. There is little difference when antidepressants force the serotonin level too high! Would anyone have been surprised by his actions had he been taking PCP? Of course not! But they remain CLUELESS when it comes to this similar effect with antidepressants!!! So clueless that he continues taking a cocktail of drugs in prison – a common theme in these antidepressant-induced tragedies.

After two decades of testifying & consulting in these antidepressant-induced violent murders & suicides it amazes me how absolutely ignorant the entire world remains, including the court system, to the connection & true cause of such incomprehensible violence!!! I have worked Columbine & MANY other US school shootings, comedian Phil Hartman & his wife’s murder/suicide & MANY more murder/suicides wiping out entire families, Andrea Yates’ case & MANY other mothers who have killed their children over the past 20+ years. Yet the courts & everyone else seem to continue to remain ignorant of the fact that antidepressants cause you to act out your worst nightmare in a sleep state called a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD). Of those being diagnosed with RBD 80% hurt themselves or someone else & 86% of those diagnosed with RBD were found to be taking an antidepressant. It antidepressant is the single most common denominator in these cases, yet it seems the whole world is failing the simple math in this case!

How do the pharmaceutical companies keep these cases suppressed the way they do?! They have LONG known their drugs cause these tragedies. The large numbers of secret settlements remain hidden from the public so you are not aware how often they happen. Goggle ssristories to see a database of just a few all too similar cases. (Especailly note the Donald Schell case in Wyoming) So WHO is guilty of premeditation in this case? Do you really think Damian Rzeszowski was warned that taking an antidepressant could possibly cause this? NO! And few other patients have ever been warned either!

You can continue to cry for vengeance upon this man or any of the others instead of looking at the true guilty parties in this horrific tragedy, but mark my words … in doing so the cost may be your life or the life of a loved one someday soon.! This is a serious public safety issue! When is someone near you on an antidepressant going to slip into a toxic nightmare (literal nightmare of RBD) & include you in that nightmare?

Look how many times this man stabbed himself! even to the point of collapsing his lung! That cannot happen without this frenzied drug state! He had just overdosed on these drugs. Tragically, few are aware that the brain goes dead before the body in an overdose with antidepressants. Why was he released from the hospital before the full toxic effect of the rising serotonin hit him to cause this psychotic reaction?

WARNING: If you are taking an antidepressant you must know that it is more likely that this violent sleep disorder, RBD, is more common in withdrawal .So, weaning off an antidepressant MUST be VERY, VERY gradual (months or years, rather than days or weeks) so as to avoid this serious toxic reaction.

In all of these articles out yesterday in the news covering the story by
Dylan’s mother there is STILL no mention of any medication use on Dylan’s part.
Yet we have a friend of Dylan’s who came forward claiming to have been helping
him withdraw from both Zoloft and Paxil.
But the coroner claims they found nothing in his system (I could go into
why that report is suspect but will save that for another time).
IF there really was nothing in his system, was Dylan in withdrawal from his
SSRIs at that point? We know that withdrawal can produce that same extreme out
of character violence since the REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) is more
prevalent in the withdrawal from these drugs than while on them. And yet of
those being diagnosed with RBD a staggering 86% were taking an antidepressant!
(To learn more about RBD read my FDA testimony on comedian Phil Hartman and is
wife’s Zoloft-induced murder/suicide – a classic case of RBD also found posted
at www.drugawareness.org.)
And if Dylan had been taking antidepressants were they prescribed to
Dylan? If not, where was he getting them? (Let us point out that anyone can
obtain these drugs easily. They have been sold in the streets since the early
90’s to be used recreationally and samples can be found ANYWHERE. Someone just
let me know that they found a bottle of Effexor in a shoe at a second
hand store!) Was a friend sharing their prescription? It happens regularly
from reports I get from kids. Were either of his parents taking one that he was
using for himself?
Years ago I was called in on a case of a 19 year old who was staying with a
married couple where the wife had been prescribed Zoloft and did not like how it
made her feel. She stopped taking it and placed in on top of the fridge. So when
the young man started feeling a little down he remembered the pills were for
depression and were suppose to help you feel better. So he took a couple, waited
a couple of hours and took more because he still was not feeling any better.
Then again took more a little later expecting to feel better right away. After

about five pills he recalls nothing about stabbing a man over 100 times with a
screwdriver.

Mother
of Columbine killer tells of horror 10 years after massacre

•Susan Klebold says she is haunted by school killings
•’I cannot look at a child without thinking about it’

The
mother of one of the two teenagers who murdered a dozen fellow students and a
teacher in the massacre at Columbine high school has broken a decade of

silence to say that she is unable to look at another child without thinking
about the horror and suffering her son caused.

Susan
Klebold, whose son Dylan and another youth, Eric Harris, hunted down pupils at
the Colorado school with shotguns, a semi-automatic pistol and a rifle before
killing themselves, has described her trauma over her son’s actions.

“For
the rest of my life, I will be haunted by the horror and anguish Dylan caused,”
she wrote in O, The Oprah Magazine. “I cannot look at a child in a grocery
store or on the street without thinking about how my son’s schoolmates spent the
last moments of their lives. Dylan changed everything I believed about myself,
about God, about family and about love.”

Neither
the Klebold nor Harris families has spoken about the massacre, in which 21
students were also wounded.

Klebold
recounts how the last word she heard from her son was a gruff goodbye as he
rushed out of the door early on the morning of the killings in April 1999.

“I
was getting dressed for work when I heard Dylan bound down the stairs and open
the front door … I poked my head out of the bedroom. ‘Dyl?’ All he said was
‘Bye.’ … His voice had sounded sharp. I figured he was mad because he’d had
to get up early to give someone a lift to class. I had no idea that I had just
heard his voice for the last time,” she said.

Dylan
Klebold was headed to make a final video with Harris to say goodbye and
apologise to their families before they drove to the school to plant bombs,
which failed to detonate, and to carry through their plan to kill their fellow
students.

After
the killings, the authorities said there were indications that the two youths
were disturbed and hints of the looming catastrophe. Harris’s blog included
instructions on how to make explosives and, later, angry denunciations of
society that attracted the attention of the police after Harris posted a death
threat against another student. Closer to the massacre, Harris listed his
stockpile of weapons and posted a hit list. Klebold was less overt but with
Harris made secret videos of their weapons and wrote in his diary of a desire to
plan an attack that would match the bombing in Oklahoma City by rightwing
militiamen that killed 168 people.

Klebold
writes that she had no idea that Dylan was contemplating killing himself or
anyone else. “From the writings Dylan left behind, criminal psychologists have
concluded that he was depressed and suicidal. I’d had no inkling of the battle
Dylan was waging in his mind,” she wrote.

“Dylan’s
participation in the massacre was impossible for me to accept until I began to
connect it to his own death. Once I saw his journals, it was clear to me that
Dylan entered the school with the intention of dying there. In order to
understand what he might have been thinking, I started to learn all I could
about suicide.”

Five
years after the killings, the FBI said they believe that Harris was a clinical
psychopath who masterminded the plan and Klebold depressive.

The
massacre continues to generate debate about the motives of the two youths and
whether anything could have been done to stop them. The magazine said that Susan
Klebold was not paid for the article and will not be making an appearance on
Oprah Winfrey’s television

This appeared in today’s Dallas Morning News Letters to the Editor.
Interesting comment from the perspective of someone who volunteers for
an emergency hotline. Thanks to Rosie Meysenburg for passing this
along to us. Mark

Psychiatric drugs

There has been much talk about what is causing the rash of shootings by
children. No one explanation has nailed the source of the problem. One
explanation often heard is untreated mental problems.

In truth, three of the recent shooters had been treated and given
psychiatric drugs – Springfield’s Kip Kinkel (Springfield, Ore.) with
Prozac, Eric Harris (Littleton, Colo.) with Luvox and Thomas Solomon
(Conyers, Ga.) with Ritalin.

I was a volunteer for a hot line and received many complaints from
people
whose behavior became irrational after taking mood-altering drugs like
Prozac. The wife of comedian Phil Hartman, who killed her husband and
herself, was on the psychiatric drug Zoloft.

Why has there been no mention of the risks of taking these drugs? I
think
we have put too much trust in the psychiatric community in allowing
them to
put so many of our children on drugs. The pharmaceutical industry which
is
making big money on the proliferation of legal drug use and the rising
costs of drugs is not going to complain. We must complain.

My antidepressant made me do it!

The Hartman estate says Zoloft was
to blame for a murder-suicide.

July 19, 1999 | It was May 1998, and comedian Phil Hartman and his wife, Brynn, were planning a party. Their son, Sean, was soon turning 10 and they wanted to make it special with a bash at Planet Hollywood. Brynn was inviting her son’s friends, including some of his classmates from his school in Encino.

In mid-May she called Kathryn Alice, the mother of one of Sean’s friends, to get her address. Sean and Calvin, Kathryn’s son, played together and had visited each other’s homes. Through their sons, the moms had gotten to know each other, too. They chatted on the phone, and Brynn confided that things were tough. “She said she was barely hanging on by a thread,” Alice recalls. “I told her things will get better, but she said ‘I don’t know.'”

The invitation soon arrived in the mail, but the birthday party never happened. On May 28, at about 2:30 a.m., Brynn Hartman returned home from a night out with a female friend. As Sean and his sister, Birgen, slept in their rooms, Brynn entered the master bedroom and shot her sleeping husband three times. Four hours later, with police in the house and friends listening outside, Brynn lay down on the bed next to Phil’s body and pulled the trigger once more, killing herself.

How could this happen? Why did a woman who was, by all accounts, a devoted and protective mother, deprive her children of their parents? In the days after the killings, the tabloids and mainstream press ruminated over the problems in the couple’s often stormy relationship, speculating that Phil was preparing to leave her, or that she had relapsed into an old cocaine addiction. People magazine reported that she had recently started drinking again after 10 years of near-sobriety and had checked into an Arizona rehab clinic earlier in the year. Indeed, toxicology reports cited in press accounts indicate that at the time she died, Brynn Hartman had both cocaine and alcohol in her system.

But the couple’s family and their lawyers have another answer: Zoloft made her do it.

In late May 1999, one year after the deaths, attorneys for the Hartmans’ estate and children filed a lawsuit against Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant that makes Zoloft, a new-generation antidepressant similar to Prozac. The suit contends that Brynn Hartman’s violent outburst was caused by a rare but previously documented side effect of the medication that left her agitated, jittery and “out of touch with reality.” It is one of more than 170 wrongful death lawsuits filed against the makers of these new antidepressants since Prozac first hit the market 12 years ago.

The Hartman suit also charges that Arthur Sorosky, the psychiatrist that supplied Brynn Hartman with Zoloft, was not really her doctor and never conducted an evaluation. Sorosky, the complaint alleges, was actually her son Sean’s doctor and gave Brynn medication samples — the kind doled out to physicians by drug company salesmen — “without the benefit of a history and physical examination [or] diagnosis.”

Sorosky’s attorney, Joel Douglas, told Salon Health that his client and Brynn Hartman had “a doctor-patient relationship” and that Sorosky had prescribed the Zoloft in a proper and appropriate way. “From what I understand,” he added, “with cocaine and alcohol in her system, you don’t need to look for Zoloft to understand what happened.”
