A San Francisco woman
who asphyxiated her 3-year-old daughter during an apparent suicide attempt in
their Ingleside Terrace home has been sentenced to 25 years to life in
prison.
Linda Woo, 43, was sentenced Tuesday in San Francisco Superior
Court by Judge Cynthia Ming-Mei Lee for first-degree murder. Woo will serve a
concurrent term of seven years to life for the attempted murder of her
4-year-old son, who survived the incident.
Twenty-five miles east of downtown Estacada,
near the Ripple Brook Ranger Station on Highway 224, a mentally disturbed
Estacada man went on a rampage Nov. 18, breaking windows, chasing family members
from the home and firing shots from a .22-caliber rifle.
But after a
two-hour standoff with Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputies and SWAT negotiators,
Brent A. Hatcher, 28, was taken into custody and booked in the Clackamas County
Jail for unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangerment, with bail set at
$200,000. Charges of attempted murder were dropped, but Hatcher remains in jail
under close supervision.
A BALLARAT woman has admitted to trying to kill her elderly
mother at a nursing home by stopping her from breathing.

Clark, 51, yesterday pleaded guilty in Ballarat Magistrates Court to one count
of attempted murder.
Prosecutors said Hrehorowicz attacked his wife in January 2008 – about two weeks after she filed for divorce. In the attack, he placed a plastic bag over her head before she was able to get away and run to a neighbor’s home.
Sheldon remarked on the “high emotions of divorce court” spilling into felony court before sentencing Hrehorowicz to six years in prison.
I frequently wandered around in a daze, or ran around at all hours of the day and night. I became intensely suicidal.
“Now he is serving 15 yrs. in jail for the death of his little girl and the trauma that his son had to face.”
