The following is my comment on an article in an article on a Bellingham, WA case of violent crime by a teen who was in the foster system for years before being adopted in 2009. He has just been sentenced for animal cruelty in the first degree consisting of torturing the family cat by “hitting, slamming, choking, smothering, swinging a body by the neck” See the original article detailing the case, and where you can post your own comments, below my comment here.
“This kid is NOT the root problem but is the product of the problem – the foster “care”/Family “Services” system which we allow to continue damaging these children who have no one to protect them. Family Services or Child Protective Services, or whatever “new speak” term we happen to call them, have been drugging children out of their minds for decades now with few stopping them other than perhaps Senator Charles Grassley who has investigated the financial motives for this practice and been able to stop some of it.
“At least equally culpable is Pharma with their bribing of government officials to get deadly drugs on the market that can produce this behavior and then get government officials to peddle them to children in a situation where they can bring in the bucks at an astounding rate! And who is left to pay the bill for those drugs? You and I and everyone else who also have to live in this world with these damaged children.
“The boy has likely been on antidepressants since first coming into the system and could easily still be on the drugs since the article detailed him having many of the behavioral effects associated with these drug and because antidepressants have such terrible withdrawal most patients cannot get off the drugs once started on them. These drugs are known to cause violence to the point of homicide. Patients report that feeling guilt or remorse is next to impossible as is feeling anything and someone wants this kid to feel empathy? About the only feeling I hear patients on these meds report being able to feel any longer is rage.
“Tragically these poor innocent animals and this child who started out innocent before the system did this to him are the ones who are paying for what WE continue to allow in our society by turning a blind eye. How many children do we allow them to destroy before we say ENOUGH?!”
