“The work Ann Blake-Tracy is doing is very important and she is truly a heroine...\" Dr. Candace Pert, one of the two developers of the serotonin binding process hich made possible the development of the serotonergic drugs.”

Ann Blake-Tracy’s December 13, 2006 to the FDA

Ann Blake-Tracy, head of the International Coalition for Drug Awareness, author of Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? & Our Serotonin Nightmare. For 15 years I have testified in court cases involving antidepressants. The last 17 years of my life have been devoted to researching, writing, and lecturing about these drugs.

Two of my nieces in their early 20′s, a decade apart, attempted suicide on antidepressants, the first on Prozac, the second just a month ago on Wellbutrin.

Due to time constraints I refer you to my September, 2004 testimony on the damaging effects of inhibiting serotonin metabolism – the very mode of action of antidepressants. Impairing serotonin metabolism results in a multitude of symptoms including suicide, violent crime, mania and psychosis. Suicidal ideation is, without question, associated with these drugs.

Rosie Meysenburg, Sara Bostock and I have collected and posted 1200 [now 3000] news articles documenting many exaggerated acts of violence against self or others at www.drugawareness.org with a direct link to www.ssristories.drugawareness.org

Beyond suicidal ideation we have mania/bipolar increasing dramatically. Antidepressants have always been known to trigger both.

According to the Pharmaceutical Business Review in the last 11 years alone, the number of people in the U.S. with “bipolar” disorder has increased by 4.8 million. [a 4000% increase]

Dr. Malcolm Bowers of Yale, found in the late 90′s over 200,000 people yearly are hospitalized with antidepressant-induced manic psychosis. They also point out that most go unrecognized as medication-induced, remain un hospitalized, and a threat to themselves and others.

What types of threats from manias?

Pyromania: A compulsion to start fires

Kleptomania: A compulsion to embezzle, shoplift, commit robberies

Dipsomania: An uncontrollable urge to drink alcohol

Nymphomania and erotomania: Sexual compulsions – a pathologic preoccupation with sexual fantasies or activities

Child sex abuse has increased dramatically with even female teachers going manic on these drugs and seducing students. The head of the sex abuse treatment program for Utah estimated 80% of sex crime perpetrators were on antidepressants at the time of the crime. While Karl Von Kleist, an ex-LAPD officer and leading polygraph expert estimated 90% – strong evidence of manic sexual compulsions that demand attention.

Diabetes has skyrocketed, has been linked to antidepressants, and blood sugar imbalances have long been suspected as the cause of mania or bipolar. Anyone who has witnessed someone in insulin shock would see the striking similarity to a violent reaction to an antidepressant.

If there has been any increase in suicide since the black box warning it is due to doctors not knowing how to get patients off these drugs safely.

Clearly far too many lives are being destroyed in various ways by these drugs. (831)

Who said I had any faith in the FDA?!! Presenting this information to them leaves them in a position of never being able to say they did not know. I holds them fully accountable for what they are doing to millions by way of their non-action. They had enough information on antidepressants to pull them from the market years ago & save thousands of lives & save others far more pain and suffering!

    Hi Ann Blake-Tracy,

I’m glad you’re showcasing the antidepressant tie to sexual behavior.
It’s one more deviant behavior caused by these meds that the public just doesn’t
get. It seems completely out of their realm of belief, much like all the other
amazingly horrible side effects you talk about.

Someone told me of a couple who was getting a divorce – the young mother had small children at home, the husband was a devoted husband and father. The story was that the woman had found some guy on the internet and had an affair with him. When I heard this, I wondered if she’d been taking antidepressants. Why? Well, because a mom with small children can too easily get stressed and mention this to a family doctor. The doctor will then offer antidepressants as an easy solution.

I emailed the person who told me this story and asked if the woman had been on antidepressants. I asked if her personality had changed? Had her attitude at her place of employment changed, had she become careless? Had her driving habits changed, etc. – all the aspects you’ve written about.

I received a reply from the man saying I had the circumstances pegged almost exactly!

These days I feel like I’m able to intuit situations far more accurately than I want to.
I have some hope that very slowly, much too slowly, some niches of our society are beginning to understand the real dangers of these medications. And interestingly it’s not the authorities in power who learn the truth first, but rather the patients who have suffered, and then found your book, “Prozac: Panacea or Pandora” or something by Peter Breggin or William Glasser.

Recently, I have found several videos on youtube.com about psych med dangers and put links to them on my website:

    http://www.antidepressant-dangers-non-medical-alternative.EFTisland.com/

Perhaps you would want to link to some of the same ones? I also have a link to your SSRIstories.com on my “links page.” Thanks for keeping up the fight against these incidious medications.

I wrote a news article about your FDA hearings in 1991 which I found very moving. http://mindfreedom.org.uk/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=8 … I am glad you still have faith in the FDA. I’m not sure I do but I’m not an American so there might be doves in the FDA that I don’t know about. In my opinion criminal proceedings should be stared against the FDA itself. The future holds the promise of a bottom up approach to health care centered on people from the grassroots. No need for FDA’s or Doctors. We need to teach people to turn away from authority and empower their own life’s rather than depending on things being done for them. This has already happened to a certain extent in South America and communities that look after themselves without intrusive and abusive goverment.
