ARAPAHOE SHOOTING: WHO WAS KARL PIERSON?

Karl Pierson

Karl Pierson, Arapahoe School Shooter

Who was Karl Pierson and what do we know about him so far?

Yesterday morning Karl Pierson ran into Arapahoe, CO high school where he was an excellent student and began shooting before an armed guard stopped him cold in less that 1 minute, 20 seconds leaving many to ask if we need armed guards in all schools.

Do we have any clues yet as to why this young man would have done what he did yesterday in taking a gun, machete and two suspected Molotov cocktails with him to school Friday, December 13, and opening fire, seriously injuring a female classmate who was apparently just in the wrong place at the wrong time, before taking his own life?

First of all we do know his parents had filed for divorce in 2011 and the divorce was finalized just over a year ago in August of 2012. We do not know if he had therapy for this in which he was prescribed an antidepressant which could have contributed to his violent behavior and suicidal behavior, both adverse drug reactions known to double in this age group if given an antidepressant. Increasing serotonin – the mode of action of antidepressants – has LONG been known to produce impulsive murder and suicide http://www.drugawareness.org/fda-testimony/dr-ann-blake-tracys-september-13-2004-to-the-fda .  Anyone familiar with that research would not be surprised in the least to learn that 68 out of the 70 school violence incidents investigated thus far have found a perpetrator on an antidepressant: http://www.drugawareness.org/ssri-nightmares/school-shootings/

Listen to a school shooting suspect describe what happened to him when he took a gun to school and what triggered it for him: http://www.drugawareness.org/recentcasesblog/why-i-took-a-gun-to-school-1

Other than the parent’s divorce and him being disaplined recently by his debate coach, who he targeted in this shooting, there is little to indicate that Karl Pierson would have ever taken the steps he took yesterday of running into his school armed to do extensive harm. “Pierson’s parents divorced in late 2011, according to court records. The divorce was finalized in August 2012.”

“Karl Pierson was a bright student and enthusiastic high school debater who got into trouble with his debate coach.”

Known as a gifted debator he participated in national finals this past summer…”
neighbors were in shock … Pierson was a dedicated, bright student from a religious family that attends Bible study meetings…They’re just a normal middle-class family, like many of the families around here,” said neighbor Diane Shea.”

“Carl Schmidt and Brendon Mendelson, both seniors at Arapahoe High, knew Pierson. They said he had political views that were “outside the mainstream,” but they did not elaborate.

“Schmidt said the shooter “was an outspoken kid about what he believed and a good political thinker.”

“Mendelson added, “He did have a lot of friends. He was popular with the people he knew.”

But we also know this: “A bright student who voiced strong opinions in class and on the debate team (especially about gun rights), dividing his time between divorced parents, some suggestions that he might have been bullied now and then, a run-in with a teacher who had ordered him suspended when the student threatened the man.”

So….violent behavior had been demonstrated before this in a run-in with this teacher. Yet those who knew him best describe him as someone who would not be expected to act upon any such threat or take revenge.

“I had class with him and knew he was very outspoken and willing to contribute, and also that he had a controlled temper he would use during discussion,” Carl Schmidt, a fellow senior, told the Los Angeles Times.

“A lot of people picked on him, but it didn’t seem to bother him,” Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with Pierson, told the Denver Post.

“High school senior Frank Woronoff told CNN he had known Pierson since they were freshmen together.

“He was the last person I would expect to shoot up a high school. He was honestly incredibly humble and down to earth. He was a little geeky but in a charming way,” he said.”

But there may have been some disappointment in not being able to progress further in the national debate competition this past summer and certainly disappointment in being taken off the debate team. Was there someone there ready to medicate his troubles away when he was only miles from Columbine where not quite one and a half decades ago an entire community had their troubles medicated away with funds donated to the victims of Columbine High? Most likely there were many ready to do exactly that.

ZOLOFT & ZYPREXA: GRANDSON STABS GRANDMOTHER 111 TIMES

Zak Weston

ZACHARY COLE WESTON

Just over a year ago on October 3, 2012 while under the influence of Zoloft and Zyprexa Zak Cole killed his grandmother stabbing her 111 times. The attack was brutal and very gruesome. You can read the details below from the original article.

“SALT LAKE CITY — Prosecutors say a man accused of killing his grandmother in her Avenues home stabbed her 111 times.

“Disturbing new court documents were released Friday as Zachary Cole Weston, 21, was charged with aggravated murder, a capital offense.

“Weston is accused of stabbing Joyce Dexter, 84, multiple times on Oct. 3. Police were called to Dexter’s house, 310 J St., where Weston was living, on a report of a possible domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they found Weston standing over his grandmother while holding a bloody knife, the charges state. He also had blood on his hands and clothing.

“Weston told investigators that he “stabbed his grandma” and admitted that he “slit her belly, her jugular and her heart,” charging documents state. A medical examiner later determined that nine of the 111 stab wounds were to the heart. Prosecutors said several of the victim’s internal organs had also been removed.”

Clearly he had serious reactions to medications with several charges being filed for other incidents within the past couple of years before this tragedy. What a shame that no one caught it all sooner to wean him off the medications. Knowing UNI as I do, it being the first place I was ever invited to lecture on the subject of violence associated with the SSRI antidepressants, I can tell you there is no way they would have ever picked up on what was happening to him!

Once again I repeat that medical research has been clear from the early 50’s that increasing serotonin via interfering with the metabolism of serotonin (or serotonin reuptake inhibition – exactly the mode of action of SSRI and SNRI antidepressants) will produce impulsive murder and/or suicide. For verification of that feel free to access the court testimony of Dr. John Mann in the WY case of Tobin vs Glaxo, decision 2001. Dr. Mann was the expert witness for Glaxo yet was compelled to testify to his years of research into serotonin and impulsive murder and suicide.

The Physicians Desk Reference states that antidepressants can cause mania, psychosis, abnormal thinking, paranoia, hostility, aggression, agitation, confusion, amnesia, abnormal dreams, sleep disorders and a host of other adverse neuropsychiatric effects. Withdrawal, especially abrupt withdrawal, can also cause these same adverse effects.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill could not comment Friday on a possible motive or Weston’s possible state of mind at the time of the attack. He praised police, however, for responding so quickly to the crime scene and confronting the grandson before he left.

Family members have told reporters Weston suffered from a mental illness.

Weston has been involved in a recent series of incidents against relatives and others, showing an apparent trend of increasing violence, according to court records.

Last week, he was charged in 3rd District Court in an unrelated assault against another family member. On Sept. 27, Weston, who was living at the time with his father, got into an argument with his dad and began hitting him, according to court documents. When a female friend of Walt Weston, who was also at the house, tried to intervene, Zach Weston allegedly bit her.

In 2010, Weston was arrested for shoving his mother and hitting a police officer. He pleaded guilty to one of two assault charges. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and complete any recommended treatment.

On Aug. 8, Weston was at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute at University Hospital for an initial assessment when he slapped a UNI employee with an open hand, according to a University of Utah police report, and punched another in the face.

For those incidents, he was charged on Aug. 9 with two counts of assault and interfering with a police officer during an arrest, class B misdemeanors. On Sept. 24 he was charged with two counts of battery and making a false alarm, also class B misdemeanors.

ANTIDEPRESSANTS??? 7-yr-old Made 911 Call in (Physician/Nurse) Parents’ Murder-Suicide

bilde

Dr. Rudolph and Stephanie Fajardo

The 7 year old daughter of a Springfield, MO physician called to report the deaths of her mother and father at about 5:30 AM Friday morning. Their four children 7, 6, 3, and 1 were found uninjured in the home. It is believed that Dr. Fajardo, 35, shot his wife Stephanie, 32, and then himself on the morning the little girl expected to be getting a pony for her birthday.

The following was my comment on the article and in response to someone who posted she hoped the children would get the professional help they would need to cope with this tragedy:

“Let’s hope they keep her away from the “professionals” with all their drugs and tell her the truth that will bring her more comfort than any drug ever could. Dr. Fajardo had easy access to the same drugs that drove Brynn Hartman to shoot her celebrity husband Phil Hartman before killing herself …. antidepressants. (That wrongful death case filed in behalf of the Hartman children has been settled by the makers of Zoloft.)

“For several years these drugs have been heavily marketed to physicians with their stressful job situations. The problem is that when antidepressants increase serotonin they produce horrifying nightmares and then remove paralysis of muscles during sleep thus allowing the patient to act out those nightmares. It is called a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD), previously rare, but now 86% of those being diagnosed with RBD are taking an antidepressant. People with RBD are known to commit both murder and suicide.

“Someone needs to check medications to help these children find answers to why their father would do something so completely out of character. Antidepressants are extremely common in murder/suicides!”

Study: High Psychotropic Medication Rates For Children With Autism

pills

STUDY: HIGH PSYCHOTROPIC MEDICATION RATES FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

(Keep in mind as you read through this critical information that Autism is a condition of ELEVATED serotonin levels and nearly everyone of the medications Autistic children are being given are drugs designed to INCREASE serotonin levels thereby making the Autistic symptoms worse. Yet doctors are prescribing these drugs to 64% of Autistic children with everyone working to find ways to combat the symptoms of Autism while they are taking medications that make those symptoms worse!!! This also indicates that Adam Lanza, the shooter at Sandy Hook, had a 64% chance of being on one of these medications since he had a diagnosis of Autism.)

And research shows that mothers on antidepressants (all antidepressants increase serotonin) have a 3 to 4 times greater rate of having a child with Autism! Autism is only one of MANY birth defects associated with a mother’s use of antidepressants. To give one of those children additional drugs that increase serotonin levels after the initial exposure within the mother’s womb, thus giving the child no opportunity to recover from that initial exposure, is beyond criminal in my opinion!

The very first birth defect noticed in the offspring of children born to mothers on antidepressants was hypoglycemia which contributes to higher rates of seizures, attention-deficit disorders, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or depression. With that in mind read below about those being treated with multiple medications and higher odds of being medicated with these drugs are the ones showing symptoms of seizures, attention-deficit disorders, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or depression which indicates these are more likely those children who became Autistic due to their mother’s use of an antidepressant during pregnancy!!!

Disclaimer: Please do not attempt withdrawal or any change in dose without reading withdrawal information below!

THE STUDY OBJECTIVE AND RESULTS

OBJECTIVE: The objectives of this study were to examine rates and predictors of psychotropic use and multiclass polypharmacy among commercially insured children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

RESULTS: Among 33?565 children with ASD, 64% had a filled prescription for at least 1 psychotropic medication, 35% had evidence of psychotropic polypharmacy (=2 classes), and 15% used medications from =3 classes concurrently. Among children with polypharmacy, the median length of polypharmacy was 346 days. Older children, those who had a psychiatrist visit, and those with evidence of co-occurring conditions (seizures, attention-deficit disorders, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or depression) had higher odds of psychotropic use and/or polypharmacy.

CONCLUSIONS: Despite minimal evidence of the effectiveness or appropriateness of multidrug treatment of ASD, psychotropic medications are commonly used, singly and in combination, for ASD and its co-occurring conditions. Our results indicate the need to develop standards of care around the prescription of psychotropic medications to children with ASD.”Roughly two-thirds of children in the U.S. who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have been prescribed at least one psychotropic medication, according to new estimates published in the journal Pediatrics on Monday.

“In addition, 35 percent of the children were simultaneously prescribed two or more psychotropic medications, including antidepressants, attention deficit disorder medications and antipsychotics.

“Fifteen percent had been prescribed at least three different types of psychotropic drugs.

NO PROOF THESE DRUGS ARE SAFE IN CHILDREN

“I believe the takeaway is that children are on a lot of psychiatric medications without proof that they work or are safe in children,” study researcher Anjali Jain wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. Jain, a managing consultant with health care consulting firm Lewin Group, added that “nothing is known about what happens to effectiveness or safety when drugs are combined — or about long-term effects.”

Suspect Dead: Antidepressant Withdrawal: Thursday Afternoon Woman in Capitol Car Chase With Toddler in Car

capitol shooting

Antidepressant Withdrawal: Thursday Afternoon Woman in Capitol Car Chase With Toddler in Car Gunned Down by Police

This sounds like it could be yet another case when it is a woman who rammed a barrier at the Capitol Building before going on a high speed chase with police while a toddler was in the car with her. No word yet on the condition of the child who was rushed to a hospital.

The impulsive actions, the high speed chase, the road rage in ramming a barrier, and doing all of this with a toddler in the car also might include suicide by cop or even murder/suicide by cop. We see all of this far too often with antidepressants and have from the beginning. The term “road rage,” “suicide by cop,” “high speed chase” … all seemed to appear after the introduction of Prozac to the market.

We will keep you updated as it progresses as it has just happened.

Update: The woman was  it was yet another medical professional, a dental hygienist this time, with a “history of “mental illness” which almost always means she had been on antidepressants to induce that mental illness before endangering her child as she did this afternoon in this high speed chase with police after ramming a police car. She had a one year old child in the car with her that was not hurt. So was she given on of these drugs for Post Partum depression?

http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/03/20805397-woman-shot-and-killed-by-capitol-police-after-chaotic-chase-from-white-house?lite

This is yet another sad and tragic case for this woman and her family. If this was her child there is yet another little one who will be growing up without a mother.

I have long said that the largest single group I have in serious trouble on antidepressants are medical professionals. I have gathered a few cases that have just popped up as I have looked for some other articles in the past week. I should have that list ready for you ASAP

Update #2: If you understand these drugs and their effects these cases are so easy to predict. The latest report is according to ABC News, Carey had a history of mental health issues and suffered from post-partum depression.

Miriam Carey has been identified by authorities as a dental hygienist in Connecticut.

Former boss Dr. Barry J. Weiss told The New York Times that he and his partner fired Miriam Carey from their periodontics practice last year and cited her “temper” but would not go into detail.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/03/miriam-carey-capitol-shooting_n_4040115.html?ir=Crime&ref=topbar

Then the Washington Post reported that she has a sister in Brooklyn who is a nurse and another sister who has been a long time New York City police officer.

She was at home in Connecticut two days ago and no one knew she was in DC and were shocked to learn that. She also had no identification with her.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/miriam-carey-dental-hygienist-at-the-center-of-car-chase-and-shooting-near-the-capitol/2013/10/03/ad805fec-2c83-11e3-b139-029811dbb57f_story.html

Update #3: Friday morning reports surfaced that she thought Obama was stalking her and they found the meds we all expected to be there! (Article directly below) Remember all the false accusations of abuse that come with antidepressants. False Memory Syndrome is a term coined not long after Prozac was introduced to the market and has been a main issue in some high profile cases including that of Kobe Bryant and the Wenatchee, Washington sex ring case where the state had to pay out $100 Million for wrongfully imprisoning 43 people for as much as two years on false allegations made by a 10 year old girl in foster care who had been on first Prozac and recently switched to Paxil.

BREAKING NEWS: “Investigators found two medications in the apartment of Miriam Carey: one used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms of bipolar disorder; the other an antidepressant, a law enforcement source briefed on the investigation told CNN.

“Carey’s boyfriend contacted police in December saying he feared for the safety of their child, who was 4 months old at the time, according to a law enforcement source involved in the investigation. The boyfriend said the woman was acting delusional, claiming the president had placed Stamford under lockdown and that her house was under electronic surveillance, the source said.

“He told police that she was suffering from post-partum depression, was having trouble sleeping and was on medication. Carey underwent a mental health evaluation, said the source, …”

http://on.cnn.com/GCpPANp

Update #4: She had been taking the antidepressant Lexapro and the atypical antipsychotic Risperdone….”Authorities who searched Carey’s apartment in Stamford found discharge papers that listed risperidone, a medication to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, a law enforcement source said. They also found paperwork listing escitalopram, an antidepressant commonly prescribed under the brand name Lexapro, according to the source.”

http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/04/politics/u-s-capitol-shooting/index.html?sr=fb100413capitolshootmeds1045p

Update #5: In an interview by Fox 5 out of DC we learn she was in medically supervised withdrawal which will help you understand why the International Coalition for Drug Awareness has since the mid 90’s warned of extreme caution in withdrawal indicating that it should be extremely gradual to avoid serious reactions and a warning now goes out with all our posts. Few doctors know what they are doing in safely withdrawing patients from antidepressants as they are always trying to withdraw patients far too rapidly than they should which the FDA warns can cause suicide, hostility and/or psychosis:

“Her family said she had been suffering from postpartum depression with psychosis but was not dangerous.

“Carey-Jones said her sister had been on medication for postpartum depression but was being taken off the drugs under medical supervision.

“They told her she could get off medication,” Carey-Jones said, adding, “There were no indications she was unstable.”

ZOLOFT – WELLBUTRIN-INDUCED SUICIDE: OFFICER TOM FORT, JR’s MESSAGE FROM THE GRAVE

Elaine and Tommy

Elaine Billings and her son Officer Thomas Fort, Jr.

A New York State Police Officer, Tommy, lost his life to Zoloft and Wellbutrin

but then came back with a message for his mother and us all….

Everyone, and especially those who have lost a loved on to an antidepressant-induced suicide, needs to hear Tommy’s message to his mother from the grave. His statement is the truth for all who have died on these deadly antidepressants and the same message they would all bring to their loved ones if they could find a way! It is the message I have worked to bring out with my book and my work for two over decades and Tommy’s message only confirms it. Everyone needs to know this!

Please click the link below to watch this video about Tommy and hear his message.

Tommy’s Story: The story of Tommy Fort as written by his mom Elaine Billings.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AqtqbL-Wic&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D3AqtqbL-Wic&app=desktop

Tommy was an investigator and hostage negotiator for the New York State Police. Over 700 people attended his wake.

His mother says this is the only thing she knows to do….she says, “tell my Tommy’s story. His was not a planned suicide. He got up that Thursday morning and cleaned the pool, mowed the lawn, called a friend to have lunch the next day, called the DA to set up a meeting for the following week on a case they were both involved with.”

“Tommy’s wife went out with her mother and Tommy was going to spend the day with his two children, aged 9 and 11.”

“His son asked him if he would go pick up a friend for him to play with. Tommy said yes, and went and got him.”

“Then sometime close to 1:00 o’clock his daughter asked him if  he would go get her friend. Again Tommy said yes.”

“But he never made it there, instead he drove to a big downtown parking lot and got his work gun out of his locked trunk, got back into the car, placed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger!”

“I have asked myself over and over what happened? What agony? Psychotic break? What happened to his mind? When I think of what terrible thing or thoughts hit him to make him think that the only thing he could do is kill himself… sometimes it feels like it’s eating me up, but I know I have to stay strong because  it is what he would want me to do.”

“I know he didn’t mean it, because he came to me and told me. I am now his voice and I will be his voice until I breathe my last breath! The reason is easy for me, I love him with every ounce of my being!”

Only weeks ago I posted about George Zimmerman being on Adderall when Trayvon Martin was killed and that the drug could have produced paranoia where there was little to no reason for it and triggered the extreme violence of the attack…leading to a death that could have been prevented. Well now George Zimmerman has attacked his own wife and she is doubting his innocence after seeing this violence in her husband where he threatened her and punched her father in the nose. She has now filed for divorce.

Am I surprised? Not in the least! The adverse reactions from the medications will continue to worse as time goes on and more and more meds are added on as they are prescribed to treat the adverse reactions he is having to the first one. I would expect that antidepressants were added to his medications after this incident with Trayvon Martin and in Zimmerman’s dealing with the stress of the court case. Of course this would make him more of a powder keg than he would have been while just on the Adderal which has been found in court to produce impulsive cases of murder.

His wife, Shellie Zimmerman, reported to the Today Show this morning that her husband had “a look in his eyes that I’ve never seen before.” And she is wondering now who she is married to – a statement that many, many mates of those on these deadly medications have made repeatedly over the past several decades. And most mates have seen that look in the eyes and know to be frightened out of their minds when they see it….that blank determined stare that brings on serious adrenalin rushes to help you exit quickly!

“Although cops reported that no gun was found after they responded to the dispute, she still believes her husband was packing.

“I absolutely stand by my story,” she said. “I did not see a gun. But … I know my husband. I saw him in a stance and a look in his eyes that I’ve never seen before.”

“This person that I’m married to, that I’m divorcing, I’ve kind of realized now that I don’t know him,” she told Matt Lauer on Thursday. “And I really don’t know what he’s capable of.”

“…this revelation in my life has really helped me to take the blinders off.”

WARNING: In sharing this information about adverse reactions to antidepressants I always recommend that you also give reference to my CD on safe withdrawal, Help! I Can’t Get Off My Antidepressant!, so that we do not have more people dropping off these drugs too quickly – a move which I have warned from the beginning can be even more dangerous than staying on the drugs!

The FDA also now warns that any abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis. And these reactions can either come on very rapidly or even be delayed for months depending upon the adverse effects upon sleep patterns when the withdrawal is rapid!
