VERY FRIGHTENING LEGISLATION!!!!! Although it died once someone is working hard to resurrect this ENHANCED ACT! Thanks to a tip from Laura Nugent I just found this interesting little site:

That is seriously the title of this site promoting the use of Electro Convulsive Treatment! (The practice of electronically triggering seizures … keep in mind that seizures produce brain damage.) Now I don’t know about you, but my mom and dad taught me very well not to stick my finger in electric sockets as I was growing up so why would anyone think they could talk someone into believing they should stick their heads in one!!!
Anyway … let’s get on to the scary legislation mentioned on their site which they are so excited about – the “EHANCED Act” … put these senators on your “you know what” list and watch them closely … and even I thought Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was brighter than this!!!!
Also keep in mind once again as you read this that the VERY LARGE MAJORITY of cases of both depression, and especially the cases of Bipolar Disorder, which has absolutely skyrocketed since the introduction of the SSRI antidepressants – with an increase of 4000% just from 1996 – 2004, are CAUSED by antidepressants!!!! Both are known to be the result of elevated levels of serotonin – exactly the intended effect of SSRI and SNRI antidepressants. Reading the research by Dr. Malcomb Bowers from Yale will enlighten you on that issue. You can search him on our site and read about his concern at the high numbers of manic psychosis resulting from antidepressants.
*** PLEASE be sure you DO NOT share this site below, thereby promoting both the barbaric practice of ECT and this horrific act which takes us the exact opposite direction of where we need to go with this issue, without including my negative remarks explaining the wrong direction of this Act or at least include your own statement.***

Stabenow, Voinovich, Brown, Kerry Announce Bi-Partisan Legislation to Help Treat Americans Suffering from Depression and Bipolar Disorders
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), George Voinovich (R-OH), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and John Kerry (D-MA) announced the bi-partisan “ENHANCED Act” to establish national centers of excellence for the treatment of depression and bipolar disorders. These centers will create a national network to help diagnose people in need and improve access to evidence-based, quality care. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) is also a co-sponsor.
“Depression and bipolar disorders affect one of every five people in the United States. Unfortunately, nearly half of all diagnoses are missed,” said Senator Stabenow. “This legislation will provide direct federal support to better treat people with depression and bipolar disorders. It will save lives and improve the quality of life for millions of Americans.”
