PROZAC: Remembering Del Shannon – Taken From Us 25 Years Ago Today

del shannon5

Del Shannon saving lives through his tragic death – exactly the way he would want it. Few knew how compassionate a person and spiritual a person Del was. He would want the world to learn from what happened to him to cut his life so short. He would want the world to know that suicide was NOT something he chose, He would want the dangers of antidepressants broadcast loud and clear!

Del was taken from us 25 years ago today by the first Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor on the market in the US, Eli Lilly’s Prozac. He shot himself just over two weeks after starting on the drug his doctor clearly lied to him about in order to persuade him to take it. To read the full story and hear his hit song of all time, Runaway, please see the blog post I put out just a few months ago by clicking the link below ….

A Tribute to Del From the UK

I also recommend you read this beautiful tribute to Del by Brian from another site I highly recommend www.AntiDepAware.co.uk Brian has been gracious enough to put this together for Del today on his site. If you have not seen Brian’s site I highly encourage you to do so as he is doing what we are doing in gathering cases for the UK and documenting them there, mainly from inquests.

Apparently Brian has been a lifelong fan of Del Shannon and his work See his beautiful tribute to Del by clicking the link below……

WITHDRAWAL WARNING: In sharing this information about adverse reactions to antidepressants I always recommend that you also give reference to my CD on safe withdrawal, Help! I Can’t Get Off My Antidepressant!, so that we do not have more people dropping off these drugs too quickly – a move which I have warned from the beginning can be even more dangerous than staying on the drugs!

WITHDRAWAL HELP: You can find the hour and a half long CD on safe and effective withdrawal helps here: http://store.drugawareness.org/ And if you need additional consultations with Ann Blake-Tracy, you can book one at www.drugawareness.org or sign up for one of the memberships for the International Coalition for Drug Awareness which includes free consultations as one of the benefits of that particular membership plan.
