To “Celebrate” the Fifteenth Anniversary of Columbine …

Natalie Carpenter, 18, Arrested for Planning Two School Shootings

And She Threatened Columbine

Today, April 20, 2014, is the 15th Anniversary of the Columbine School Shooting. And this week it was announced on CBS in Denver that the threat made against Columbine last September was made from a cell phone owned by Natalie Carpenter – an 18 year old girl in Connecticut. She was arrested in March for planning to shoot up Danbury and Stratford high schools in Connecticut to get back at students she believed bullied her.

My first question would be “Was she depressed after the Sandy Hook shooting and given an antidepressant for that – the same drugs behind the majority of school shootings – the same drugs that list “homicidal and suicidal ideation” as side effects which are almost double for those her age?”

We have only had one case of a teenage girl who was the shooter in a school shooting incident and that was Elisabeth Bush, 14, who shot her best friend a Catholic school in PA, while under the influence of Paxil. Reports have been increasing of more and more females commiting violent crimes – something I have been trying to get people to see for some time. Since the introduction of SSRI antidepressants we have continued to see more and more cases of violence with women as the perpetrators. And woman began committing very violent suicides unlike what had been seen in the past.

25 Years After Wesbecker’s Rampage Another Prozac Tragedy in Louisville, KY

Maddie Yates

Maddie Yates, Teen’s Prozac-induced suicide

Yet another Louisville antidepressant-induced tragedy but certainly not the only one over the past 25 years. How very sad and tragic that they continue this many years later … Maddie Yates, a teen in Louisville, KY has committed suicide on Prozac after posting online that she was going to do so. Louisville, KY, of all places – right where Joseph Wesbecker, on Prozac, went on the 1989 big shooting spree at the printing company where he worked in Louisville, KY thus blowing open the controversy about Prozac and violence.

From my book Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare, we read about this case: “On September 14, 1989, Joseph Wesbecker blew the lid off the Pandora’s box unveiling one of the most terrible of the paradoxical reactions to Prozac when he walked into his former place of employment, Louisville, Kentucky’s Standard Gravure Corp., took the elevator to the third floor, and as the elevator doors opened, started firing with an AK-47 semiautomatic assault rifle. In what authorities called a ‘blood bath you don’t get over,’ Wesbecker took eight lives and wounded twelve others before taking his own life.”

When the makers of Prozac were sued by the surviving family members of those who lost their lives along with some of the survivors of the shooting spree we were not told, but later learned, the case was a set up to make Prozac appear completely safe and not the instigator of this blood bath. Apparently it worked well in Louisville, KY with few hearing that Judge John Potter was brave enough to spend the next two years proving this case in his courtroom was settled by Lilly in the middle of the trial and then allowed to go to a not guilty verdict. Why? So that Lilly could go on national television bragging that Prozac had been found to be safe and not the cause of this tragic violence.

No one ever knew just how much was paid out on the case, but in one instance Judge Potter found indication of one survivor getting about $50 Million. We do know that it has been reported that during the decade that Mitch Daniels, now the head of Purdue where we recently had another bizarre case of a violent murder by a young man suffering depression, headed Eli Lilly there was a total of ONE BILLION paid out to keep all this controversy about Prozac and violence and suicide quiet.

So here is yet another tragic and senseless death as a result of that silence TWENTY-FIVE years later!!! Although reported as a suicide I say this was NOT suicide! This was murder, premeditated murder! And I will explain why it qualifies as such….

Who is responsible for Maddie’s death and why do I call it a “premeditated” murder?

#1 Eli Lilly, the makers of Prozac, who were told by their own scientists BEFORE Prozac went on the market that the drug itself was actually CAUSING suicide and chose to ignore those warnings and instead chose to blame the suicides on the patient’s “underlying disorder.”

#2 The FDA for issuing the strongest warning possible for increased suicidal ideation for anyone under the age of 25 who takes ANY antidepressant they have ever approved and ANY antidepressant they approve in the future except for Prozac which works like all the rest of them.

#3 The doctor who was stupid enough to give a child this drug when it is in the same family of drugs as all the others with Black Box Warnings for suicide. What is wrong with reading just a little research when a life is at stake – especially a life like Maddie’s that had only just begun?

Everything Maddie lists as her reasons for her death are all commonly reported side effects of antidepressants – the feeling like you are evil or have something evil inside you, cursing and saying hurtful things you do not even remember saying and certainly do not mean to say, and seeing no hope of ever getting better since these drugs only make depression worse, instead of better, because the hypothesis behind the drugs is backwards. Serotonin is NOT low in depression, but elevated. What is low is a person’s ability to metabolize serotonin – exactly what antidepressants are designed to do thus leading to long term worsening of depression.

I repeat, this was premeditated murder and it needs to stop!

I am so sick and tired of seeing these! For 25 years I have spent every penny I had trying to stop it, to get the truth out before more die, but the almighty $$$$ is far too important to those responsible not only for the death of Maddie Yates, but far too many others! How many more are we going to allow them to kill? Yes, I said “allow” because we are condoning these deaths by allowing these drugs to remain on the market and to continue their ridiculous advertising of them.

Louisville Male High School in Louisville, Ky., is mourning the death of student Maddie Yates, who committed suicide after posting a heartbreaking video explaining her decision to YouTube.

Jefferson County Public Schools temporarily shut down student access to Twitter and YouTube after learning of Yates’ passing and the video she made.

She was planning to participate in a fundraising walk to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in memory of her friend, Brianna Berrier, who also committed suicide almost exactly one year before Yates’ passing.

Yates and two friends visited Berrier’s grave on April 12, the anniversary of her death, just days before Yates took her own life.

By her social media activities, Yates seemed a bright, happy youth, posting smiling pictures with friends and maintaining a makeup channel on YouTube.

In the above video, she encourages kids to be accepting of others and preaches the importance of staying strong and optimistic.

These videos exist in stark contrast to Yates’ final video, simply entitled “Important,” where she speaks emotionally of her love for others and declares herself “not a good person.”

A still from the final video.

The video is a heart-shattering look into her struggle with depression and anxiety. On her decision to commit suicide, she said, “I just don’t see how this is a bad idea,” and described it as the difference between deciding to jump from a burning building or staying in it and dying “a slow, excruciating death.”

“I’ve been like this for so long,” she said, “and there’s still a chance that the worst day might be coming.”

Yates was a writer, some of her work and biographies hint at her struggles.

In a poem posted to her Teen Ink page called “Falling Asleep,” she envisions herself as a “cold dead body.”

Diagnosed With Schizophrenia at 17, Las Vegas Man Kills Mother & Sister

Darius Sorrells

Darrius Sorrells (30)

Diagnosed schizophrenic at 17, Darris Sorrells’ sister awoke a week earlier to him standing over her with a crow bar, a week later she was dead in a bloody confrontation that somewhere along the line of events involved knives and a bloody chain saw and body parts in a fridge.

[Keep in mind that schizophrenia is a condition of elevated serotonin and which meds increase serotonin? Antidepressants. Osama Bin Laden’s son has been diagnosed schizophrenic due to his use of antidepressants. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/3047072/Omar-bin-Ladens-wife-on-why-they-split-up.html See just how many clues pointing to antidepressant use you have here from this interview with the friends.]

“Neighbors and family friends also indicated mental health issues involving Darius Sorrells.

“In the report, police said a family friend was contacted a week before by Natasha Sorrells who said she woke up to her brother holding a crow bar over her. The call prompted the first welfare check which was made on March 28 after the friend’s calls to Natasha Sorrells went unanswered.

“In investigating Darius Sorrells for the deaths, police found a hardware store receipt dated March 28 for a chainsaw inside the SUV involved in the chase.

“In an interview, Darius Sorrells claimed memory loss of every event before his arrest on March 29. He also refused to speak any further with investigators.

“The report said he showed no emotion when he was told he was being booked for the deaths of his mother and sister”.

DeJaVu: Active Shooter at Fort Hood

fort hood

Source: Active shooter at Fort Hood

Thanks to our webmaster Todd Bentley for bringing this case to us….

Considering how many at Fort Hood were medicated after the last mass shooting there which was done by an Army psychiatrist I would wonder if it might be someone who was medicated to cope with that shooting who is going off the deep end now. But considering how quick the military is to medicate with antidepressants for almost any reason, it could be military personnel. If anyone hears anything would you please share?

Remember that elevated serotonin (exactly what antidepressants are designed to do) has long been known to be associated with violent crimes, be it murder, suicide, rapes, arson, etc. http://www.drugawareness.org/fda-testimony/dr-ann-blake-tracys-september-13-2004-to-the-fda

See the breaking news below….

Here is the press release stating clearly he was on antidepressants – SSRIs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCvvg2M8ZH8&feature=youtu.be

When will they learn that you CANNOT prescribe so many drugs together?! Most especially they should not be giving someone two or more drugs that produce the deadly sleepwalk disorder of REM Sleep Behavior Disorder such as Ambien and an antidepressant.

Lopez was undergoing a variety of treatment for psychiatric issues, ranging from depression to anxiety to sleep disturbances. He said Lopez was taking “a number of drugs,” including Ambien, for these conditions, and that he had seen a psychiatrist just last month. McHugh said there were no indications during that examination that Lopez showed any “sign of likely violence.”

Milley said Wednesday that Lopez had been undergoing an assessment to determine whether he had post-traumatic stress disorder.

More info on shooter:

The initial report is below. The following is the latest report indicating he was being treated for “depression and anxiety” with a traumatic brain injury on top of that.

“The gunman had served four months in Iraq in 2011 and was currently under diagnosis for post traumatic stress disorder, but had not been officially diagnosed with PTSD, Milley said. He added the shooter was undergoing behavioral health care for depression and anxiety, had a self-reported traumatic brain injury and was not physically injured in combat.”

Additional info on shooter Ivan Lopez:
“Milley added that the suspect had not been stationed at Fort Hood long, arriving on post less than two months ago. “He recently arrived at Fort Hood in February from another installation and we’re checking with the other instillation to determine the background of the soldier,” Milley told reporters.

“Ivan Lopez served one tour, four months, in Iraq back in 2011.  When he returned, he diagnosed himself with a traumatic brain injury.  At the time of the shooting, he was being treated for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, but had not officially been diagnosed.  Milley said the suspect was undergoing the diagnosis process for PTSD and, in the meantime, was receiving specific treatment for behavior, health and psychiatric issues.”

OBAMACARE: CAN YOU NAME THIS OLD PHYSICIAN’S TOOL?

Tobacco enema

A friend just shared this picture along with the following explanation which seems so appropriate in light of the recent news which for some strange reason is making headline news as a great success story. Instead you would think they would be embarrassed about anyone knowing the results. That is the news indicating as the deadline for Obamacare reached its end yesterday the media reported as a “great success” that 7 million out of 314 million Americans (a whopping total of 2.2%) signed up for Obamacare!

Even if you figure in children to the equation the rate seems extremely low to me. It gives me hope that the 97.8% who did not sign up will have a greater rate of survival since there will not be a free ticket to drug them with anything (especially an antidepressant which seems to be the cure for anything that ails you) the doctor feels like prescribing.

I guess I am just having trouble figuring out how having 2.2% of the population sign up is being considered a success. Anyone want to explain that to me? In the meantime you will find the following very interesting and humorous……

CAN YOU NAME THIS OLD PHYSICIAN’S TOOL?

THOUGHT YOU WOULD ENJOY THIS EDUCATIONAL MOMENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY. GIVE IT A GUESS, THEN LOOK BELOW FOR THE ANSWER. HINT: USED BY A PHYSICIAN…

HINT: ITS A KIT… TOBACCO SMOKE ENEMAS (1750S-1810S). THE TOBACCO
ENEMA WAS USED TO INFUSE TOBACCO SMOKE INTO A PATIENTS RECTUM FOR
VARIOUS MEDICAL PURPOSES, PRIMARILY THE RESUSCITATION OF DROWNING VICTIMS.

A RECTAL TUBE INSERTED INTO THE ANUS WAS CONNECTED TO A FUMIGATOR AND
BELLOWS THAT FORCED THE SMOKE TOWARDS THE RECTUM. THE WARMTH OF THE SMOKE WAS THOUGHT TO PROMOTE RESPIRATION, BUT DOUBTS ABOUT THE CREDIBILITY OF TOBACCO ENEMAS LED TO THE POPULAR PHRASE “BLOWING SMOKE UP YOUR ASS”.

IT HAS BEEN REINTRODUCED IN WASHINGTON , BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE NEW HEALTH CARE PROGRAM, OBAMACARE.

Breathing Rosemary Oil Enhances Memory, Fights Alzheimer’s

Rosemary

Rosemary Boosts Memory

Old Superstitions Were on to Something
When It Comes to This Memory Herb

Antidepressant medications have extreme adverse effects upon memory. So adverse are those effects upon memory that amnesia was listed as a frequent side effect to the first SSRI antidepressant Prozac and should follow for all subsequent SSRI and SNRI antidepressants released since then. Memory loss is one of the most common long term effects of antidepressants making this information on Rosemary oil just out so important to those taking or who have taken antidepressants.

Ancient Greek scholars wore this herb around their heads to help them remember their studies. The ancient Egyptians put it in tombs and early Europeans threw it into graves to help them remember the dead.

It’s been given to wedding guests to remember the occasion and also to the happy couple to remind them of their sacred vows. It’s been placed under pillows to enhance recall during sleep.

All these old superstitions are fun, but does the herb have any real memory-boosting power? Surprisingly, yes!

Rosemary is proving to have real merit in preserving and enhancing memory and cognition.

15% Improvement in Long-Term Memory

The first tests on this herb for memory were published in 2003. Researchers studied 132 volunteers for the effects of rosemary in the form of an essential oil (a very strong concentrate extracted from the whole herb). Those exposed to the aroma had a 15% improvement in long-term memory.

This can occur because molecules in the oils are extremely small and can be absorbed into the bloodstream through the olfactory nerve in the nose and via the lungs. They can also cross the blood-brain barrier to have direct effects on the brain.

NPR Radio Show on Oils

I did a radio show on National Public Radio with Kathy Farmer, who is now an expert on the oils and teaches doctors about the oils after using these oils to help her daughter come off Zoloft. This was done right after we got the 2005 warning from the FDA on increased suicide in children using antidepressants. But Kathy does a wonderful job of explaining the science behind how the oils work upon the brain and can help after the use of antidepressants.

You can find that NPR program by going down to section #1 on our website at http://www.drugawareness.org/alternatives/ and then click on the NPR logo which looks like this:

nprlogo

Dr. Mark Moss, lead researcher from the University of Northumbria in the UK, commented: “What is interesting is the possibility of using rosemary over a long period to maintain cognitive performance. It could be that a bit more rosemary with lunch maintains a healthy mind throughout life.”

A later study by Dr. Moss tested volunteers’ ability to do mental arithmetic. Those subjected to the aroma of rosemary saw enhanced aspects of cognition, with greater speed and accuracy. Performance outcomes improved for each task tested.

The most recent Moss study tested prospective memory – remembering events that are expected to occur in the near future and remembering to complete tasks at a certain time. Those exposed to the essential oil performed at a 60 – 75% higher level compared to those not exposed. They were better able to remember events, complete tasks and had greater speed of recall.

More Effective Than Dementia Drugs

Rosemary is able to improve brain function by several mechanisms. It contains a chemical important for memory called 1,8-cineole. Blood levels of this substance rise when a person is exposed to the rosemary scent. 1,8-cineole also has the ability to inhibit acetyl-cholinesterase, an enzyme that reduces brain function. It is among the key enzymes that promote Alzheimer’s disease. Most dementia drugs target this enzyme.

Not only does rosemary contain 1,8-cineole, it also contains rosmarinic acid and ursolic acid. These compounds are also able to inhibit acetylcholinesterase. So altogether, rosemary boasts three factors that work to reduce a dangerous mind-destroying enzyme.

Rosemary also contains carnosic acid, a natural chemical that protects against the ravaging effects of free radicals in the brain that contribute to neurodegeneration.

Dr. Takumi Satoh of Iwate University offered this thought about carnosic acid: “It means that we can do even better in protecting the brain from terrible disorders such as Alzheimer’s, perhaps even slowing down the effects of normal aging.”

Makes You Feel Good Too

Experiments with human volunteers suggest another benefit I find very attractive: The aroma of rosemary elevates a person’s mood. People reported feeling fresher and more active, with greater alertness and less drowsiness. Those who had a massage with rosemary oil said they felt more vigorous and cheerful.

Let me make it clear that the only oil I recommend using is Young Living because there are too many oil companies that extract their oils by using chemicals. I would NEVER recommend using oils processed like that for inhalation. Inhaling something is a direct hit to the brain and you want to make sure what you are inhaling is in its purist form. Young Living Oils are processed via low temperatures (which preserves the enzymes in the oils) steam distillation giving you the purist form you can find to use. If you would like to try it for yourself you can order a bottle by clicking the link below:

ANTIDEPRESSANTS – Woman Cuts off Man’s Penis and Kills Him With Hammer

sissors

Hong Kong – Woman (41) Beats Man (32) to Death With

Hammer After Drugging Him, Cutting Off His Penis & Flushing It

The article ran March 12, 2014 and it is now one week later with not one of you reporting it to me when there were almost 20,000 shares of the article. You are really slipping! This makes me wonder what I am doing wrong in teaching you how to spot these antidepressant-induced crimes. This is NOT just my responsibility. I really do need your help in documenting these. All of us are suffering as a society because of the widespread use of these drugs. If we cannot show the world the connection to the drugs in order to stop this drug-induced insanity, I do not want to see what is coming for all of us as an end result!

Excerpts from the London Daily Mail article below give us the story of what happend…

“… Yeung Ki attacked Zhou Hui, her now-married former longtime lover, and flushed his penis down the toilet after feeding him with drug-laced soup, the South China Morning Post reported

“… in 2007, she lost contact with him. Already pregnant, she traced him on the mainland and discovered he was married.
Zhou asked her to abort the child, but she refused. They ceased contact until 2012, when Zhou called her saying he missed her and visited her several times.

Attack and Rape By Zhou

Yeung told police in an interview shown in the court that on the last visit, Zhou had beaten her and her four-year-old daughter because she refused to give him $28,000 to buy a car.
Zhou had also told Yeung he had nude pictures of her which he would post on the internet unless she gave him the money. He then stripped her and had forcible sex with her on the bed.
Zhou ‘beat her, pushed her to the floor, and slapped their daughter’.
During the fight, the girl was sent out to the apartment balcony, while Zhou then ‘forcibly had sex with her’, the High Court heard.

Drugged Soup, Severed and Flushed Penis, and

Subsequent Beating to Death With Uncountable Hammer Blows

“… Afterwards, Yeung fed him with the drug-laced soup, took a pair of scissors and cut off his penis which she flushed down the toilet.
When Zhou was awakened by the pain, he started beating her and as they fought, she saw a hammer and grabbed it to bash him in the face.

… Yeung beat him to death with an ‘almost uncountable’ number of blows from a hammer to his face and the back of his head, prosecutor Nicholas Adams said.
After the killing, Yeung wrapped the body in a bed sheet and covered it with a mattress.
The following day, Yeung took her daughter to a Social Welfare Department centre where she wept and confessed she had severed Zhou’s penis and killed him.

Yeung Ki Suffered From Depression

‘I cut it,’ Yeung told a social worker. ‘I think it was cruel. I did not mean it.’
Yeung says she is not guilty of murder and that she was provoked and suffered from depression.

Now let me point out the main thing, beyond the statement by her that she was suffering from depression that caused this, that would indicate to me she was currently taking an antidepressant when this occurred. This is the “almost uncountable number of hammer blows.

Most humans would find themselves incapable of this, but especially a woman. On an antidepressant this is not the case. I had a woman that it took three big police officers to take her down on Paxil and she nearly ended up taking them down. In another case we had a woman on Paxil who stabbed her husband 200 times. It has to do with the super human strength so many patients report – the steroid effect of these drugs.

About a decade and a half ago I took a neighbor with me to go look at a vehicle for sale across town in Salt Lake City, Utah. As we walked in the door the woman saw my button that said “Just Say No to Prozac” and she immediately began telling us why Prozac was the worst drug on the planet. She said she had no doubt that the first case of cutting off a penis that had recently been reported with Lorena and John Wayne Bobbit involved the use of Prozac. (Subsequent reports would certainly indicate both were on antidepressants after the incident if not before!) Her reason for that is she wanted to do the same. Instead she took a chain saw to every tree on their property. Then she stripped nude and got on her roof to dance with butcher knives. At that point neighbors called 911 and the fire department responded by calling her husband to coax her down off the roof.

Elevated Serotonin = Violent Crime

Remember that elevated levels of serotonin have long been associated with violent crime. http://www.drugawareness.org/fda-testimony/dr-ann-blake-tracys-september-13-2004-to-the-fda

Drugawareness.org YouTube Channel – Teens on SSRIs

Jamie Tierney

It seems few of you are aware that the International Coalition for Drug Awareness has its own YouTube Channel with lots of information there. Once you subscribe to the Drugawareness Channel you will automatically be notified as we send out new videos – something we are gearing up to do a lot of in the near future as we comb through all of my older videos and recordings.

Find one video below as an example of some of the videos you will find there.

Sign up for the YouTube Drugawareness.org Channel here:

And here is a direct link to the videos on our YouTube channel: http://www.drugawareness.org/videos/

The following example is a news piece that covers the experience of two teens, Christopher Pitman & Jamie Tierney. At age 12 Chris was prescribed Paxil and then Zoloft and after only a few months killed the two people he loved the most, his grandparents, and then proceeded to burn the house down with their bodies still inside. Jamie at 15 became suicidal and full of rage after being given Effexor for migraine headaches.

You can see that news piece here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlLiAfiueo4&list=UUo-6uMPDOtwaPe1ec3Rhr3A

In posting the new information over the next few months I would hope it would give you a good picture of how much information has been out there for how long and what all has been accomplished at this point. If you are wondering why these antidepressants are still on the market from what you are seeing and learning currently, just wait until you see all that has already transpired and the information that has been out on the drugs for years now.

I have long said that those beginning to see this situation with these drugs need desperately to learn the history behind what has already transpired. We will also be including some very long, in depth, radio interviews on these drugs that will teach you things you have not yet heard anywhere else even though they are over a decade old. I encourage you to listen and learn and share with others so that they can see this antidepressant fiasco for what it really is.

Study: Tumeric More Effective in Treating Depression Than Prozac, Etc.

Study: Turmeric more Effective than Prozac at Treating Depression

For those who may have missed this…from the article below we read:

A recent study published in Phytotherapy Research says that not only is turmeric effective at treating depression, it may even be more effective than some of the most common anti-depressant drugs currently on the market.

Antidepressants Do NOT Work!

First of all let me point out that the statement quoted above is not completely correct because antidepressants are NOT effective in treating depression contrary to what you hear every evening in television ads. The drugs may give an initial feeling of making a patient think they are feeling better because they work like an anesthetic. When you are feeling nothing of course the feelings of depression, anxiety, etc. stop but you can also lose all the good feelings as well. In fact many patients come off these drugs because they can no longer feel. So, when you consider that information combined with the following facts:

– serotonin has long been known to be ELEVATED rather than low in depression

– serotonin metabolism is what is low in depression and antidepressants inhibit the metabolism of serotonin thus worsening depression

– studies demonstrate the worsening of depression and anxiety after using an antidepressant long term

– the fact that those with anxiety have been found to have serotonin levels EIGHT TIMES HIGHER than normal so clearly elevating those levels with an antidepressant is NOT a good thing

– depression and stress can be detected medically via elevated levels of cortisol, yet one single 30mg dose of Prozac was shown in an early study done by the manufacturer themselves to clearly DOUBLE the level of cortisol!

– the only apparent “beneficial” effects from antidepressants seems to be the stimulant effect they provide as they test out in the blood as amphetamine which explains why patients so often end up with a Bipolar or manic reaction to these drugs

(for supporting scientific research on these statements refer to my book Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare at www.drugawareness.org)

… (so with all of that is taken into consideration) it would appear that this study would demonstrate that tumeric is far more superior in treating depression than any antidepressant ever approved by the FDA.

With this information in mind I invite you to read the information below on the results of this study on tumeric.

But before deciding to make any changes in dose of an antidepressant please see the warnings below and links to withdrawal helps because any abrupt change in dose can cause deadly results if you and/or your doctor do not know what you are doing!!!

Study: Turmeric more Effective than Prozac at Treating Depression

by Elizabeth Renter
July 24th, 2013

It’s common knowledge in the natural health world that pharmaceuticals often (if not always) do more harm than good. It’s also clear that foods, herbs, and other natural sources can offer similar benefits without those nasty side effects. Once again, our beliefs have been affirmed by science: A recent study published in Phytotherapy Research says that not only is turmeric effective at treating depression, it may even be more effective than some of the most common anti-depressant drugs currently on the market.

While previous studies have indicated the effectiveness of turmeric (curcumin) in treating serious depression, this study was the first randomized controlled clinical trial of its kind.

Researchers with the Department of Pharmacology of Government Medical College in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India compared the effects of turmeric and Prozac (fluoxetine), both used together and individually, in 60 patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD).

According to GreenMedInfo.com, the researchers used the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale to measure their results:

“We observed that curcumin was well tolerated by all the patients. The proportion of responders as measured by the HAM-D17 scale was higher in the combination group (77.8%) than in fluoxetine [Prozac] (64.7%) and the curcumin (62.5%) groups; however, these data were not statistically significant (P?=?0.58). Interestingly, the mean change in HAM-D17 score at the end of six weeks was comparable in all three groups (P?=?0.77). This study provides first clinical evidence that curcumin may be used as an effective and safe modality for treatment in patients with MDD without concurrent suicidal ideation or other psychotic disorders.”

While reading the researchers conclusions indicates one treatment (turmeric) is equally effective as Prozac, it doesn’t account for the negative effects of Prozac, which boost turmeric’s value considerably. Prozac is known to cause “suicidal ideation or other psychotic disorders,” frightening side effects that are clearly absent in turmeric use.

In addition to fighting depression, the bright yellow root commonly used in Indian cooking known as turmeric has been found to have numerous health benefits. In addition to this enlightening research on its efficacy in depression treatment, we know it also has value in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, diabetes, and even cancer. If that isn’t enough, it’s also been shown effective in aiding in weight loss and cutting heart disease risk. Plus, it tastes amazing.

Anti-depressant medications are some of the biggest of Big Pharma’s many big money-makers. Equipped with knowledge like the findings of this most recent study, consumers have the potential to undermine their goal of drugging America and the world.

CELEXA & BACLOFEN: Suicide of Australian Model Charlotte Dawson

Charlotte Dawson

CHARLOTTE DAWSON

“According to one friend, Dawson was fixated on an anti-anxiety drug that she thought would help her quit drinking. Fairfax Media understands Dawson was taking Baclofen, a muscle relaxant that French cardiologist Olivier Ameisen claimed had cured him of drinking alcohol, sparking international headlines. ”She looked a million dollars when I saw her last week,” a friend said. ”She had given up drinking and was talking about an anti-depressant she was taking … Charlotte subscribed to the theory ‘you take a pill for everything’. She sent me the link to a story on this drug, believing it would help her.”

The first question should be who on earth got her to believe that a muscle relaxant was an anti-anxiety drug?

Now that sure makes a lot of sense! She was taking an SSRI to increase serotonin … when the main function of serotonin is constriction of muscle tissue and then she took Baclofen, a muscle relaxer? Hmmm….did her body know which direction it was going?! And the muscle relaxer was suppose to help her stop drinking?!!!!!! HOW INSANE IS THAT?!!! Sounds like a terrible mix to me and if she had weaned off the antidepressant the cravings for alcohol would have been gone if only she had know that antidepressants cause cravings for alcohol! http://www.drugawareness.org/book-excerpts/ssris-and-alcohol
