ANTIDEPRESSANTS: UT 16 Year Old Charged as Adult for Double Murder in Suicidal Crash

Marilee Gardner crash

Marilee Gardner, 16, survived, Tyler Christianson, 19, and Maddison Hann, 20 Died

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with two counts of 1st degree murder for allegedly causing a crash on purpose that killed two people Thursday in Roy, Utah. Of course she was being treated for depression and had recently been hospitalized which makes anyone wonder if she had a recent medication change greatly increasing her chances of a serious adverse reaction like this. The FDA warned when they issued the Black Box Warnings for increased suicide in those under 18 who take antidepressants that any abrupt change in dose, whether increasing or decreasing the dose, can produce suicide, hostility and/or psychosis.

To be charged at age 16 with a double charge of first degree murder for a suicide attempt is one of the harshest charges I have seen in 25 years of working on these cases!

“Marilee Patricia Gardner was charged in state court in Ogden with two counts of first-degree-felony murder and two third-degree felonies for failure to stop at the command of police and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

“Gardner was traveling about 100 mph in a 45 mph zone early Thursday when she rear-ended a sedan with her SUV, sending the car into a traffic signal pole….Gardner stole her parents’ SUV earlier in the evening with the intent to meet a 17-year-old friend; the two planned to take drugs and crash the car as part of a “suicide pact”

“She also has a history of being suicidal and was recently hospitalized for treatment, according to the charges.

“Several of Gardner’s neighbors said Friday they were shocked to hear what happened. Some said that they knew the girl had been battling depression and other problems. But all of the neighbors the Deseret News spoke with had high praise for Gardner’s parents, saying they have been trying for some time to help her.”

DeJa Vu – Jeanette Sliwinski – Three Dead in Suicidal Crash

How horrible that this Utah case  is almost identical to this crash in Chicago in 2005, also caused by all the drugs they call “medications” and hand out like candy to these kids when they KNOW the drugs DOUBLE suicidal ideation (compulsions) in this age group!!!! Had anyone really listened in Jeanette’s case this new case and oh so many others could have been prevented and many lives spared!

Seroquel, Sinequan, Zoloft and Klonopin is the list of drugs Jeanette Sliwinski, 23, a model, was taking to help her sleep when she ran three red lights and then plowed into a stopped vehicle in a suicide attempt. Jeanette was removed unharmed from the wreckage as she screamed, “I just wanna die!, I just wanna die. you don’t understand!”

The crash killed three popular musicians who all worked together,  and were just on their way to lunch, Michael Dahlquist, 39, Douglas Meis, 29, and John Glick, 35, all of Chicago. PLEASE be careful and alert tomorrow on your way to lunch or wherever you are going as you never know who might have recently been released from a Psych Hospital or might have run out of meds and is having an abrupt change in dose as a result.

Here is a link to Jeanette’s case out of our SSRIstroies.NET database of cases…..

In 2004 the FDA issued warning about the doubling of suicidal ideation in youth and teens but with the continued widespread prescribing of antidepressants to youth you would never know there should be any concern about doing so!!! Why? Why? Why? Why FDA did you not ban these deadly drugs with both homicidal and suicidal ideation (compulsive thoughts and action) at that time or any time since then. This is long overdue! How can you consider “medications” with suicide and homicide warnings as safe and effective?
