Only a few miles away from the Columbia, MD Mall shooting and just days away another tragedy struck Wednesday evening. In what I am sure was the most sad and tragic day of his life Montgomery County, MD Police Sgt James Stirkens found his son, Christopher, violently stabbing his mother with pruning shears. Unable to stop him Sgt Stirkens was forced to shoot his own son in an attempt to save his wife. Sadly his son died instantly and his wife died later at the hospital.

Once again all who knew this family is in shock. But Denise left an all too obvious clue on her Facebook page just the week before this that said, it was Mental Health Awareness Week and stated: “Depression, anxiety and panic attacks are NOT a sign of weakness. They are signs of having tried to remain strong for too long,” “Share the support! Let those who struggle know they’re not alone …”

No, those struggling with depression, anxiety or panic are rarely alone any longer…seems they all have Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor, Remeron, Wellbutrin or one of the many other antidepressants on their backs – drugs designed to increase the levels of serotonin. The only problem with that is the increase in serotonin coming from the serotonin reuptake has always been known to produce impulsive murder and suicide.
