REMERON & SEROQUEL: Robin Williams July 21, 1954 – August 11, 2014

ROBIN WILLIAMS Born: July 21,1951 Died: August 11, 2014

This weekend should not pass us by without addressing the anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest comedians of all time, Robin Williams. He died three years ago of Antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Disorder (RBD). He had at least 2 serotonergic drugs in his system when he killed himself.

One antidepressant found in Robin Williams toxicology test, Mirtazapine, Remeron, has 10 drug regulatory agency warnings citing suicidal ideation.

The mainstream media are reporting that Robin Williams had no drugs in his system when he died, but what they mean is no ‘illegal drugs’. He did have two serotonergic prescription medications in his system, these are legal drugs, and they can often be worse than street drugs as many users will attest to and which have long been known to produce LSD effects and even test positive for PCP. Sadly these (side) effects are not as well known by the public, nor their physicians. But we do know that the hallucinogenic effects of LSD and PCP are brought on by their mimicking of serotonin – the very chemical these serotonergic medications are designed to increase. As a result SSRI’s, SNRI’s, tricyclic antidepressants, MAI’s, atypical antipsychotics, or any other drug which increases serotonin levels can cause all sorts of problems, from inducing self harm, mania, akathisia, suicidal ideation, aggression, homicidal thoughts etc… Anyone on them long-term is asking for trouble…but even short term they can cause all sorts of nasty side effects as was demonstrated in the courtroom verdict finding only two doses of the antidepressant Paxil to be the main cause of the mass murder/suicide of the Donald Schell family in Wyoming in 2001. (Tobin vs Glaxo)

Thanks to Alex Steblowsky for sharing much of this information with links. https://truthman30.wordpress.com/2014/11/08/robin-williams-had-2-antidepressants-in-his-system-when-he-killed-himself-autopsy-reveals/

This weekend should not pass us by without addressing the anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest comedians of all time, Robin Williams. He died three years ago of Antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Disorder (RBD). This is a disorder I wrote about almost three decades ago in my book on about antidepressants, Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare! as being the most deadly side effect, or abrupt withdrawal effect, of antidepressants . Here is our Facebook group by that name on this disorder where one acts out their worst nightmare in a sleep state:

Facebook Group: Antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Disorder

https://www.facebook.com/groups/106704639660883/

Although his wife amazingly was able to track down what it was that drove him to take his life – a REM Sleep Disorder, she attributed it to Lewy Bodies, not knowing how common RBD is to antidepressant use nor the fact that the overwhelming majority of RBD cases, 86%, are diagnosed in those taking an antidepressant.

But Robin was not on just one, but two of these drugs which produce this deadly sleep disorder known to cause the patient to hurt themselves or someone else in 80% of the cases (including both murder and suicide) as they act out these drug-induced nightmares.

Our Facebook groups for the antidepressant and atypical antipsycotic Robin was taking, which we firmly believe need to be pulled from the market….

Facebook Group: Remeron (Mirtazapine) Should Be Illegal

https://www.facebook.com/groups/RemeronandMirtazapine/?ref=br_rs

Facebook Group: Seroquel (Quetiapine) Should Be Illegal

https://www.facebook.com/groups/605535796261627/

The mainstream media are reporting that Robin Williams had no drugs in his system when he died, but what they mean is no ‘illegal drugs’.

So what was his prescription drug history? What all had he been given as he was treated for depression, Bipolar, etc. What doses were they? And how long was he on them? How rapidly was he taken off them? All these things can contribute to this final tragic outcome. I firmly believe Robin’s family deserve to know the truth about the dangers all the prescription drugs he had been given…

Some news sites are reporting the name of the atypical antipsychotics he was given as, Seroquel.

“When authorities found Robin’s body … they saw a closed bottle of Seroquel, a drug that treats schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and depression. It was prescribed a week before he died.

This news site is reporting, Seroquel (an atypical anti-psychotic and the antidepressant, mirtazapine (Remeron Zispin)

http://www.drugs.com/remeron.html

“In general, some antidepressants, especially SSRIs, can paradoxically exacerbate some peoples’ depression or anxiety or cause suicidal ideation.[55] Despite its sedating action, mirtazapine is also believed to be capable of this, and for this reason in the United States and certain other countries it carries a black box label warning of these potential effects.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetiapine

Both classes of these types of drugs all carry Black Box warning labels for suicide.

There is an emerging controversy regarding quetiapine fatalities. The deaths of at least six U.S. military veterans who were given drug cocktails including quetiapine[31] have been attributed to its inclusion by military doctors to treat PTSD.

Approximately 10,000[32] lawsuits[33][34][35][36][37] against AstraZeneca for problems ranging from slurred speech and chronic insomnia to death have been filed by individuals from civilian populations.

Some have argued that additional somatic and psychiatric symptoms associated with dopaminergic super-sensitivity, including dyskinesia and acute psychosis, are common features of withdrawal in individuals treated with neuroleptics.[48][49][50][51] This has led some to suggest that the withdrawal process might itself be psychosis-mimetic, producing psychotic-like symptoms even in previously healthy patients, indicating a possible pharmacological origin of mental illness in a yet unknown percentage of patients currently and previously treated with antipsychotics.

http://perezhilton.com/2014-11-07-robin-williams-autopsy-results-revealed-suicide-parkinson-anxiety-paranoia/?from=post#.VF2FmNYjlo4

The first thing is that Robin was sober at the time of his death. The report stated that he only had four drugs in his system, two were anti-depressants and two were “caffeine compounds.”

However, the report also brought to light the fact that Robin was suffering from paranoia [yet another side effect of these serotonergic medications] and apparently he …

“placed several wrist watches in a sock and gave them to someone because he was worried about their safe keeping.”

Ben Stein: Anti-depressants Gave Me Suicidal Thoughts
CBNNews.com
Monday, August 25, 2014

Tonight’s Emmy Awards will feature a tribute to iconic comedian and actor Robin Williams, who recently committed suicide after a lifelong battle with depression.

Like Williams, actor Ben Stein told CBN News he also struggled with depression and thoughts of suicide.

It’s unclear whether Williams took anti-depressants. But Stein said those drugs played a dangerous role in his personal battle with depression. He said the closest he came to actually taking his own life were the times he was taking anti-depressants.

“The absolute worst I’ve ever felt in my entire life was under the influence of two drugs called Thorazine and Mellaril,” he said. “That was a long, long time ago, when they were supposed to make you feel better and yet, suicidal thoughts – they had the exact opposite effect and I really came close to death,” Stein told CBN Health and Science reporter Lorie Johnson.

“And then within the last several years, a drug called Wellbutrin, which is a well-known anti-depressant was prescribed to me and it actually worked quite well for about two weeks. And then I felt an overwhelming compulsion to commit suicide and I stopped taking it and it went away,” Stein said.

Stein said he has kept his depression and thoughts of suicide at bay through prayer, rest, and fresh air, and getting in a 12-step program.

“Unless there’s some gigantic breakthrough I’m unaware of, I would never think of touching anti-depressants again. That being said, if they work for other people, God bless ’em,” Stein said

COLD TURKEY WITHDRAWAL: SEROQUEL: Triple Murder Demonstrates Why Not To Do This

Derek Saretzky above stopped his “sleeping pill,” the atypical antipsychotic drug Seroquel (Quetiapine) abruptly two months before this tragedy….

Thinking about stopping your medication cold turkey, switching medications, starting Seroquel or any other serotonergic drug???? Read this current ongoing triple murder case and think again!!!!! You may also want to visit our Facebook group “Seroquel (Quetiapine) Should Be Illegal”

The second article is an interview with his grandfather who talks about the drug and alcohol problems Derek had previously and a fairly recent divorce. Keep in mind that antidepressants which produce terrible insomnia are very often prescribed after a divorce. So the Sequel could have been prescribed for insomnia he developed from an antidepressant. If so the Seroquel could have been his second exposure to a serotonergic medication. Each exposure produces more and more intense adverse reactions.

His grandfather also included the information that the elderly woman he killed first was a family friend he had done odd jobs for his entire life.

I have left out the extremely graphic parts of this first article for you…others can read the article for the rest of the story including cannibalism. Always remember that a safe withdrawal is a gradual withdrawal & as you will see there is very good reason why the FDA issued their warnings on withdrawal from these serotonergic medications. Rapid withdrawal is most definitely not worth the risk of going into a REM Sleep Disorder (where 80% hurt themselves or someone else), a manic psychosis or any other type of psychosis…..

ABRUPT or RAPID SEROQUEL WITHDRAWAL & THE REM SLEEP DISORDER

Killed in this case were Terry Blanchette, 27, and his two year old daughter Hailey and Hanne Meketech, 69, who was killed five days earlier than Terry and his small daughter. All of these killings were very brutal deaths which included no guns.

Abrupt withdrawal from any serotonergic medication can produce this type of impulsive murder, as well as suicide, as a patient slips into a REM Sleep Disorder which can appear months after the abrupt withdrawal. REM Sleep Disorder has long been known to produce both murder and suicide in a sleep state as the patient acts out nightmares.
It has been my experience in dealing with the adverse effects of these drugs that increase serotonin that all of them can produce this deadly sleep disorder. But the majority of the drugs involved have been the serotonergic antidepressants. Research indicates that 86% of those being diagnosed with this extremely deadly sleep disorder are currently taking antidepressants even though the REM Sleep Disorder has long been known as a drug withdrawal state.
The big problem with all of these new so called “atypical” antipsychotics like Seroquel, Zyprexa, Abilify,  Risperdal, Geodon, etc. is that they are like a combination of an SSRI antidepressant mixed with an older anti-psychotic. So, you get similar adverse effects to these drugs as you do the antidepressants.
I do know that after testifying in these cases & documenting them for 25 years this drug-induced nightmare we are living in needs to end!!! I hope family members on both sides of this tragedy hold the drug maker responsible for these senseless deaths!!!
In a hearing in 2008 I presented testimony before the FDA on this deadly drug. We also have a Facebook group titled “Seroquel (Quetiapine) Should Be Illegal.” And there is a similar Facebook group for each of these atypical anti-psychotics and antidepressants.

From the article posted below this we read: “….he had stopped taking Seroquel – an antipsychotic medication – which he said he had been on to help him sleep. [PLEASE NOTE The prescription of this antipsychotic drug was for sleep, NOT psychosis! The psychosis was the result of the abrupt withdrawal from the drug.]

Saretzky said he had stopped taking the medication a few months earlier, adding, “Everything’s been a real blur since then.”

McCauley then asked about something Saretzky’s father had said about talking to the devil.

“[The devil] takes control of me sometimes and I don’t know how or why,” Saretzky replied…. [Even atheists have reported to me for years now that they feel possessed on these drugs or that someone else’s brain is in their body.]

He said that he had dated Cheyenne Dunbar, Hailey’s mother, after Hailey was born, but that he ended the relationship when he chose a friend over her. McCauley asked if Saretzky felt like Hailey’s step-dad, to which he responded, “Kinda I guess.”

As McCauley directed the conversation to the murder of Blanchette, Saretzky said, “I don’t even remember going to Terry’s house,” then saying, “God did it, not me. God did it himself.” [The going in and out of consciousness as one acts out the dreams or nightmares they are having.]

While remaining calm and telling Saretzky that he believed he was under the control of a demon

After continuing to deny that he played any role, Saretzky finally broke down… [Often the patient is not even sure what they have or have not done on the drug and it takes a lot of the puzzle pieces placed in front of them for them to realize that what they remember only slightly as a nightmare was reality.]

“Think I’d have a chance if I plead insanity?” Saretzky asked, after first inquiring if he might spend the rest of his life in prison. McCauley responded that it wasn’t something he had control over. [PLEASE note that the patients have always reported they had no control over their actions. I still remember young Kip Kinkle screaming over and over to police after committing one of the first school shootings on Prozac and Ritalin, “I had no choice!!!!” when he was being questioned about killing his parents and shooting classmates.]

Two School Shootings in the News on Columbine’s 18th Anniversary

Today, Thursday, April 20, 2017, marks the 18th anniversary of the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado and marks the day after Barry Loukitis, in one of the first school shootings in this country, was once again given 189 years for killing a teacher and two classmates in Moses Lake, WA while no mention of these drugs and the role they played in that case has ever been mentioned in his defense! And while the real guilty parties in these school shootings continue to live in plush luxury with no repercussions whatsoever to this day!

The 12 students listed below and one teacher, William “Dave” Sanders, 47, were killed during the attack on the morning of April 20, 1999. And Eric Harris and Dylan Kleebold lost their lives in either a double suicide or a murder/suicide after the attack. Today we remember all the lives that were lost that day as well as those were severely injured and those whose lives were changed forever when Eric and Dylan reacted to their antidepressants:

Cassie Bernall, 17
Steven Curnow, 14
Corey DePooter, 17
Kelly Fleming, 16
Matthew Kechter, 16
Daniel Mauser, 15
Daniel Rohrbough, 15
Rachel Scott, 17
Isaiah Shoels, 18
John Tomlin, 16
Lauren Townsend, 18
Kyle Velasquez, 16

The day this happened I was on the phone with Ruben Ortega, Chief of Police in Salt Lake City, discussing with him some local tragedies to help him to understand the impact of these drugs upon the community he served and the public as a whole. The Salt Lake Family History Library shooting had recently happened with an elderly Russian man killing two before being shot. That elderly Russian man had an experience very similar to the German Wings pilot who two years ago took a plane with 150 to their deaths as he flew it into a mountain side in the Alps. This elderly Russian man noticed that he was losing his eyesight as a result of his antidepressant so he just stopped taking it with NO IDEA what that can cause! (If you see the REM Sleep Disorder listed in the Evidence section on School Shootings you will see the reaction he had that morning on his daily walk past the Family History Library as he opened fire killing one of my dear friends, Don Thomas, whom I had warned over and over again about the danger he was in there as the Family History Library security guard.) As Chief Ortega learned more and more about how these drugs work and how they can produce psychosis and violence and are so very similar in action to a slow fuse LSD or PCP he mentioned that was the case in the recent KSL shooting as well. The woman who came into that building shooting and killing a woman who worked there and her unborn child was also on one of these drugs. He then asked me, “Do you think what is going on right now in that school shooting in Littleton, CO could be caused by these drugs as well?” I replied that I did not generally see a case where two people go off the deep end on these drugs at the same time, but if they commit suicide too, you can bet it is one of these cases.” I was to later learn that about the same time I was making that statement to Chief Ortega is when Eric and Dylan lost their lives to the suicidal ideation we now have warnings are doubled for those under the age of 25 who take these drugs.

Mark Taylor’s Fight for Columbine

Please watch Mark Taylor’s Fight For Columbine to see how this tragedy has never gone away for Mark and has only gotten worse for him after he filed suit against the antidepressant maker of Luvox . Luvox is the antidepressant Eric Harris was taking when he shot Mark. And before anyone starts in on we don’t have any evidence of Dylan being on anything you need to know  that a girlfriend of Dylan’s came to Mark Taylor’s mother and then spoke with me about trying to help Dylan come off his Zoloft and Paxil (the same drug found guilty in the suicide of one of the nations’ leading attorneys.

STUDY: ANTIDEPRESSANTS DOUBLE RISK OF FEELINGS LEADING TO SUICIDE

pills

Lead researcher: Believing drugs aren’t dangerous for adults is “a potentially lethal misconception.”

A review of the clinical trials of antidepressants taken by healthy adults with no signs of a mental health disorder has found these drugs used to treat the illness actually doubled the harms related to suicide and violence. Experts working on the study said the analysis was undertaken because the harms of antidepressants, including the risk of suicide, are often explained away as if they are disease symptoms or only a problem in children. Professor Peter Gøtzsche, of the Nordic Cochrane Centre and lead author of the study, said: “While it is now generally accepted that antidepressants increase the risk of suicide and violence in children and adolescents, most people believe that these drugs are not dangerous for adults.

“This is a potentially lethal misconception.”

(Scroll down to read the full article on this research.)

After spending the past quarter of a century now specializing in adverse reactions to antidepressants I cannot agree more with this new research by Dr. Gotzsche indicating a chemically-induced increase in suicidal thinking brought on by the use of antidepressants. It is clearly chemically-induced as the patients themselves are often shocked by their own self-destructive thoughts and wonder where they are coming from.

ANTIDEPRESSANT-INDUCED REM SLEEP DISORDER

AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS

Because I have focused much of my research on the impairment of sleep by antidepressants I would have liked to see more brought out on their repression of REM sleep. That in turn leads to the acting out of both murders and suicides in a dream state brought on by these medications when they chemically-induce the deadly REM Sleep Disorder. Previous research shows that 86% of those being diagnosed with this deadly sleep disorder long known to include both murder and suicide are currently taking an antidepressant. But because REM Sleep Disorder has long been known as a drug withdrawal state, we need to know how many more might be in antidepressant withdrawal at the time of the thoughts of murder or suicide. You can read more on this aspect of the drugs in our Facebook group Antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Disorder:

Antidepressants: Drugs make people ‘TWICE as likely to think about suicide’ study claims

TAKING anti-depressants could double the risk of having feelings which could lead to suicide – a controversial new study has suggested.

The researchers said believing drugs aren’t dangerous for adults is a misconception

A review of trials of antidepressants taken by healthy adults with no signs of a mental health disorder has found the drugs used to treat the illness doubled the harms related to suicide and violence.Experts working on the study said the analysis was undertaken because the harms of antidepressants, including the risk of suicide, are often explained away as if they are disease symptoms or only a problem in children.Professor Peter Gøtzsche, of the Nordic Cochrane Centre and lead author of the study, said: “While it is now generally accepted that antidepressants increase the risk of suicide and violence in children and adolescents, most people believe that these drugs are not dangerous for adults.“This is a potentially lethal misconception.”

The review has been met with criticism of other experts

He added: “The reporting of harms in drug trials is generally poor.“Our review established that the trials did not report much about their methodology and that the reporting of adverse events was generally inadequate.”Thirteen double-blind, placebo-controlled trials were included in the review by the research team from the Nordic Cochrane Centre and the University of Copenhagen. The researchers believe that the review even ‘underestimates the harms of antidepressants’ since they had access to only the published articles for 11 of the 13 trials, rather than being able to analyse the full data held by the drug companies.

Experts said medications that do good ‘can also do harm’

Professor Gøtzsche added: “It is well documented that drug companies under-report seriously the harms of antidepressants related to suicide and violence, either by simply omittingthem from reports, by calling them something else or by committing scientific misconduct.”However, Professor Sir Simon Wessely, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Professor of Psychological Medicine, King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, said the study ‘changes nothing’.
“This paper shows that antidepressants have side effects such as odd dreams, nervousness and shaking.  This is very familiar to most, if not all, clinicians.”But importantly, no data presented in the paper supports extrapolating from these side-effects to self-harm and violence.“The strongest conclusion one can draw from this data is to say that some symptoms such as agitation occur in depression itself and in response to antidepressants, and that sometimes these symptoms are also experienced by people who go on to commit acts of violence or self-harm.“Overall, medications used in any branch of medicine that do good can also do harm. The same applies in psychiatry.“Current evidence from large scale studies continues to show that for antidepressants the benefits outweigh the risks. If the evidence changes then so will our advice, but this study changes nothing.”

Experts said the study only identified ’emergent harms’ associated with suicide

Dr David Christmas, Member of the Psychopharmacology Committee, Royal College of Psychiatrists and Consultant Psychiatrist in The Advanced Interventions Service, Dundee, said the study is not suitable to answer the questions researchers wanted to ask.

He said: “Most of the trials reported varied in the type of drug used, the dose, duration and the mechanisms of reporting harms.

“Importantly, the study only identified emergent harms that are associated (directly or indirectly) with suicide and violence.

“It didn’t identify a higher rate of these outcomes from the studies they used.”

The study was published today by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

ANTIDEPRESSANT? Creed Frontman, Scott Stapp, Announces “I Am Bipolar”

scott stapp

Scott Stapp, Frontman for Creed

Creed frontman, Scott Stapp, has had some serious problems lately and has just been diagnosed as having Bipolar Disorder despite his admission of abusing prescription drugs and alcohol which can trigger a transient Bipolar reaction, but does not need to be treated for the rest of his life with Bipolar meds as he is apparently being told.

HOW SAD!!! Not another one! If they are “medicating” him for Bipolar they are likely giving him antidepressants which produce overwhelming cravings for alcohol and Bipolar reactions – just what he does NOT need! There should be warnings on these drugs that someone who has had an alcohol or drug problem in the past like Del Shannon or Robin Williams or Brynn Hartman, Phil Hartman’s wife, that they should NEVER be given an antidepressant!!!!! They are absolutely deadly for them!

I was the expert in Brynn and Phil Hartman’s wrongful death suit against the makers of Zoloft.

Del Shannon’s widow is a dear friend of mine who follows my work closely because of Del’s suicide on Prozac after only a couple of weeks on it.

Brynn Hartman without doubt and Robin Williams I also believe acted out their worst nightmare called the REM Sleep Disorder, known to produce both suicide and murder. And 80% of those being diagnosed with this deadly sleep disorder are currently taking an antidepressant even though it is generally seen as a drug withdrawal state. So no one should ever come abruptly off one of these drugs!!

Someone is NOT “sober” when he is being given mind altering prescription drugs. I have seen a six month episode of full blown manic psychosis completely disappear with the use of Tahitian Noni juice. I believe the reason for that is it balances blood sugar which has long been considered a potential trigger for mania/Bipolar episodes.

February 2004 FDA Testimony of Corey and Jay Baadsgaard – Why I Took a Gun to School

corey

Corey Baadsgaard

Since it seems from the feedback we received after posting Mark and Cheryl Miller’s FDA testimony that many of you were unaware of all the testimonies on our site I thought I would post a few more for you.

This is Corey and his father Jay Baadsgaard from Mattawa, WA. No one gained more media attention at the February 2, 2004 FDA hearing on antidepressants and children than did Jay Baadsgaard, who has now been serving as our Washington Co-Director for the International Coalition for Drug Awareness for many years. In watching their presentation to the FDA you will see why. Jay has one of the deepest and longrange voices I have ever heard. Find the link to their testimony here: http://www.drugawareness.org/corey-baadsgaard-fda-testimony/

And you can find Corey’s story in the following video as to what happened to him when he suffered one of the most deadly adverse reactions to antidepressants known as a REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) where you act out nightmares in a dream state. Corey got up from a short nap, but did not wake up as he took a gun to school under the influence of Paxil and Effexor. He held classmates at gunpoint while he fluctuated between homicidal and suicidal ideation for 45 and to this day has no memory of it. Here is the link to his story Why I Took a Gun to School: http://www.drugawareness.org/recentcasesblog/why-i-took-a-gun-to-school-1

Robin Williams: What No One Is Willing to Talk About (But us!)

Robin Williams – What No One Is Willing to Talk About

This is an excellent video I would encourage everyone to watch! I am sorry I did not get it out days ago, but with the death of my own mother following Robin Williams death by only three days, I am a little behind schedule.

The following is my posted comment on this video:

“Excellent presentation of the data! I say that after 25 years of specializing in antidepressant adverse reactions, testifying in court cases involving the drugs, writing a large text on these drugs, Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? – Our Serotonin Nightmare, and gathering approximately 5000 cases (including most all of the school shootings and mass shootings) documented as involving antidepressants found at www.ssristories.net

“The hypothesis behind these drugs is backwards. Serotonin is NOT low in depression, but elevated and I can prove that via expert witness testimony by drug company experts themselves. Antidepressants not only cause suicide, they cause murder as well and yes that is documented in court testimony as well (check Tobin vs Glaxo Smith Kline). They often produce this by triggering REM Sleep Disorder (RBD), where you act out nightmares and well known for the potential to produce both murder and suicide. Shockingly 86% of those being diagnosed with this disorder are currently on an antidepressant. Since RBD was known in the past as mainly a drug withdrawal state we should have far stronger warnings about antidepressant withdrawal! Thank you for this!

“And as for why no one wants to talk about this….when I did the Leeza Gibbons Show in 1999, just two years after drug companies were allowed to begin advertising their prescription drugs, they made that answer very clear. As we stepped on the stage to discuss the alarming number of mothers killing their children while on antidepressants we were told we could use the word “antidepressant” but we could not use the brand names of the drugs “because of our advertisers.” If the advertisers are the ones deciding what you can and cannot hear and the main advertisers are drug companies do you really think you will hear this on mainstream media?”

Video: Marlon Wayans: Antidepressants may have caused Robin Williams’ suicide

Antidepressants may have caused Robin Williams suicide

Just in from our Washington State Director of ICFDA and my comment is:

“After specializing in adverse reactions to antidepressants and testifying in cases for almost 25 years I will say Marlon is exactly right. In fact I and our organization, The International Coalition for Drug Awareness, put together a database of about 5000 cases at www.ssristories.net which has been used in medical studies to discuss this reaction involving suicide as well as murder.

“In Robin’s case I fear it may have been a reaction to the drugs known as a REM Sleep Disorder (RBD) where you act out nightmares in a sleep state. Of those being diagnosed with RBD 86% of the patients are currently taking an antidepressant. Murder and suicide have both been seen in RBD. But before these drugs RBD was known mainly as a drug withdrawal state. And with Robin recently in rehab it is far too likely that there were medication changes going on which can trigger these reactions.

“Such a tragic loss for us all! When will the world wake up to the dangers of these deadly drugs?!

“When I was the expert in comedian Phil Hartman’s death and we got a wrongful death settlement for both his and his wife’s deaths I thought that might wake up the world, but no one even paid any attention. Hopefully in Robin’s passing it will wake up the world and save many lives! But what a terrible price to pay in order to learn this!”

Are Vivid Dreams A Concern in Antidepressant Use?

Dr

Dr. Tracey Marks

Thanks to our Southern Washington State Director for ICFDA (International Coalition for Drug Awareness) who learned firsthand how deadly vivid dreams are in association with antidepressant use when his son took a gun to school in a dream state while on Effexor and in withdrawal from Paxil and held his classmates at gunpoint for what seemed an eternity for some.

Dr. Marks downplays any importance of the SSRIs repression of REM sleep and the vivid dreams or nightmares associated with these drugs and even suggests switching to another antidepressant if this reaction bothers you…yet she gives no warning of the dangers of switching medications by going off abruptly and then on another one abruptly – the way all meds are prescribed.

My response to this video and the incorrect information relayed:

“This is perhaps the MOST IRRESPONSIBLE statement I have ever heard on antidepressant adverse reactions!!! These antidepressant-induced vivid dreams are the most dangerous reactions anyone can have next to Serotonin Syndrome. That is because the vivid dreams indicate you are on the verge of suffering an antidepressant-induced REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) where you act out these dreams or nightmares! Add to that the fact that in RBD 80% are known to hurt themselves or someone else. RBD is even known to result in murder and suicide committed in a sleep state! Before SSRIs RBD was rare but not now and now 86% of those being diagnosed are taking an antidepressant – a figure shocking even to the world’s leading experts on this disorder who found this percentage!

“The repression of REM sleep via a medication reaction or sleep deprivation has long been known as a trigger for psychotic breaks. So I am confused as to why would you tell patients not to worry about this? Eric Harris, the lead shooter at Columbine, had those vivid dreams about killing his classmates for some time on the antidepressant Luvox before acting out those dreams on April 20, 1999!

“I have raised the issue of this deadly sleep disorder associated with antidepressants often preceded by the vivid dreams for 2 1/2 decades and would like to know if you have vested interests due to working for a pharmaceutical company? Or are you trying to avoid a wrongful death suit brought by a patient who suffered this reaction? Something just does not smell right when you are downplaying such a deadly reaction to antidepressants.”

The FDA also now warns that any abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis. These reactions can either come on very rapidly or even be delayed for months depending upon the adverse effects upon sleep patterns when the withdrawal is rapid!
