Dr. Rudolph and Stephanie Fajardo
The 7 year old daughter of a Springfield, MO physician called to report the deaths of her mother and father at about 5:30 AM Friday morning. Their four children 7, 6, 3, and 1 were found uninjured in the home. It is believed that Dr. Fajardo, 35, shot his wife Stephanie, 32, and then himself on the morning the little girl expected to be getting a pony for her birthday.
The following was my comment on the article and in response to someone who posted she hoped the children would get the professional help they would need to cope with this tragedy:
“Let’s hope they keep her away from the “professionals” with all their drugs and tell her the truth that will bring her more comfort than any drug ever could. Dr. Fajardo had easy access to the same drugs that drove Brynn Hartman to shoot her celebrity husband Phil Hartman before killing herself …. antidepressants. (That wrongful death case filed in behalf of the Hartman children has been settled by the makers of Zoloft.)
“For several years these drugs have been heavily marketed to physicians with their stressful job situations. The problem is that when antidepressants increase serotonin they produce horrifying nightmares and then remove paralysis of muscles during sleep thus allowing the patient to act out those nightmares. It is called a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD), previously rare, but now 86% of those being diagnosed with RBD are taking an antidepressant. People with RBD are known to commit both murder and suicide.
“Someone needs to check medications to help these children find answers to why their father would do something so completely out of character. Antidepressants are extremely common in murder/suicides!”
WITHDRAWAL WARNING: In sharing this information about adverse reactions to antidepressants I always recommend that you also give reference to my CD on safe withdrawal, Help! I Can’t Get Off My Antidepressant!, so that we do not have more people dropping off these drugs too quickly – a move which I have warned from the beginning can be even more dangerous than staying on the drugs!
The FDA also now warns that any abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis. These reactions can either come on very rapidly or even be delayed for months depending upon the adverse effects upon sleep patterns when the withdrawal is rapid! You can find the hour and a half long CD on safe and effective withdrawal helps here: http://store.drugawareness.org/
